One of the best posts ever made on this forum - showing concern does not equate to spreading negativity.

asset stripping, aiming for 7th, or relegation?
Fitzhugh Fella replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
I gave you plenty of time to accept my bet but had given up and not come back to this thread. No one has been proved right or wrong yet incidentally. The Board has delivered (I said all summer I trusted them) and the chances are if the players gel we should be fairly comfortable, but your gloating and subsequent name calling do not enhance your argument. However as it is for charity, my offer of a bet still stands on the original terms ie - if we finish in the top half I will gladly pay a charity of your choice £50, likewise if we don't you pay the charity of my choice. -
Considering the meltdown that we found ourselves in in May I think Koeman and Reed have picked up the pieces well. Chambers fee was way too low but all things considering I think we can be confident we are in good hands. I am intrigued how these options to buy work though, does the player have a say in it? I only ask because if for instance Bertrand has a cracking season and Liverpool come in for him, do we exercise our option to buy and then negotiate with Liverpool or do Chelsea?

Gaston Ramiez to Hull on Season Long Loan - Official
Fitzhugh Fella replied to NorthamSteve's topic in The Saints
When does his contract expire? -
A bit presumptious - I would hate to go fishing with you.

Jake Sinclair - on season long loan to Hibs
Fitzhugh Fella replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Yes his contract is up so this is virtually a goodbye move -
Morgan's head gone- Update: It has been re-attached
Fitzhugh Fella replied to Chez's topic in The Saints
I think a deal has been struck and he will stay until next summer. Anyone know when his contract runs out? -
One of those "if Carling did Saturdays" moments. Slapping Fat Sam is a good feeling but the icing on the cake is the dashed hope along the M27.

Mayuka on the bench is a sign of a threadbare squad
-
If no striker comes in it will have been a poor window imo

Be nice to have some sort of official word on this from the club. Dare I mention transparency?
-
I don't like saying this and I hope I am wrong but I am so reminded how we let Shearer go and got in Dixon and Speedie, neither of whom wanted to be here. It ended in tears very quickly. I remain to be convinced by Les Reed, as I type we have 72 hours left in the market place and we are less strong than we were at the season's end.

Still "weighing up moves"? Hopefully we are a little more focused than that at this stage.

I think one of our mistakes (for want of a better word) this season in attempting to sign players is we have probably aimed a little too high and we are contending with the top 6 and losing out. Admirable ambition but unrealistic in the cold light of day and it wastes time when other avenues could be explored. Cortese obviously thought we could compete but he was in a fool's paradise brought on by having unrestricted access to funds which made him into a having a kid in a sweet shop mentality. Perhaps Les needs to lower his horizons and let's target realistic signings. Just a thought.

Sounds like someone has dropped one

I'd go back on the sauce mate and wait until we actually sign one or two of these players

If you don't like the sentiments expressed on this thread perhaps with respect it is you that needs to move on. Rally boy has given us some truly funny posts and a lot of pleasure and long may it continue. Like someone else said, this takeover is not completed yet, their fans think they own the club but the simple fact is they don't. When the penny eventually drops you watch the fall out from where you want, if its alright to you I shall watch it on here.

New players get less and less time to settle in these days.
Fitzhugh Fella replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
I'd rather not but I take your point. -

Fitzhugh Fella replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
That is very true but he had age and no big expectations on his side. Pelle is anticipated (probably unreasonably) to hit the ground running. He needs another striker to help him and hopefully RK is on the case -
Haven'taclue?
-
He'll go to QPR, Harry is getting desperate.
-
Yes I guess so. I am a little bit underwhelmed by him though, he talks the talk alright but don't think he has an actual position. He's a bit of a jack of all trades master of none.

Fitzhugh Fella replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
The trouble for Pelle is he's not inexperienced so fans cut him less slack, he comes with a high reputation as a goal scorer which equates to high expectations and as Vectis says there is no back up with Gallagher still out with whatever it is he is out with. Plus he replaced the irreplaceable in some fan's eyes. I must admit watching yesterday I suddenly appreciated how much Lambert brought to the side even as he slowed. Maybe a showing at the New Den will kick start his season...if he plays. -
Its been good to see most on this forum are agreed that the small section of fans that booed and then ironically cheered Pelle yesterday are mindless morons. Yes he had a very poor game and has done little to catch the eye up to now but he must be given time to adjust and settle. The new year would be a good time to make a fuller appraisal. I remember a young Mick Channon spending more time on his arse than on his feet in the early days and "Dockers Corner" cat calling him Doreen Channon whenever he ventured within hearing. On the other hand big Ron Davies scored in his third game, again in his fourth, failed in his fifth but then scored in the next ten games. And speaking of Davies how about his namesake, Kevin, who debuted off the bench v Bolton in 1997, dipped a shoulder and went past two defenders within a minute of coming on. We knew we had a star and he was knocking them in with regularity until Irwin crocked him for half a season. Pahars was another who hit the ground running. So some players settle quickly, others take longer, but the trouble is in the Premiership time is at a premium and a new breed of fan grows increasingly impatient at a quicker rate. You only have to look at Old Trafford in recent months to see that.

Pelle was booed by a few at the back of the Northam, take it from me as I winced when I heard it and so did others. I have to say though not only was he poor, immobile and isolated he didn't show any great desire. It is early days but I remember watching the young Kevin Davies come on for his debut at home to Bolton and within a few minutes a dip of the shoulder and a surging run at the defence and his career was off and running.
