  1. Same here: it's been a poor winter for snow and dry for ages but we've had 40mm+ on a couple of days, 20 on others so 4inches or so in the last 3/4days plus on Wednesday it snowed down to 1000m! Still cloudy and threatening but boy, are the mountains looking flush with green..
  2. Good point about 1st team football but he's not "definately" a winger. He can play there, but from the admittedly limited live and Saintsplayer footage I've seen he's got greater football awareness, far more comfortable playing inside and a compact strength to go with the pace. If the reports I've heard about the stop watch timings are true he's no slower than TW.
  3. Symmetry. And why do cows have 4 teats when they only ever have a max of two calves? Why mam, why? an' why is the sky blue... an' why 2 ********, 1 liver, 2 kidneys, 1...
  4. Whatever you do don't use the complete (and long-winded) dog's breakfast that is the EU standard. Two pages maximum. I do actually include interests right at the end since some of them can be relevant to my teaching job, show team mentality, energy and may connect with the interviewer in some way. Standard FE college application forms in the UK are a pain, but where I live now it's all contacts, haven't ever been interviewed, and it's all word of mouth.
  5. Don't worry, he was having a go at me earlier. Time of the month, I reckon. Anyway, it does strike me as slightly odd they haven't ridden the wave of post-promotion optimism. I'm not sure NC still fully understands the football fan dynamic. The optimistic in me hopes it's because they'll be a couple of dramatic signings just as tickets go on sale...
  6. *****y! Anyway, that would be off-topic on this thread.
  7. Best not come here then if it upsets you so much.
  8. Sailed there as part of a round Italy trip and made landfall and anchored just south of Dubrovnik which I visited by local bus: definitely worth a visit. I didn't think it was cheap and the bureaucracy and mooring costs for yachts were a bit of a rip-off, but I'm sure it would be cheaper in slightly lower season and less touristy areas. Good snorkelling and some interesting old Nazi E-boat bunkers to explore on the outer islands.
  9. That made I laugh!
  10. With whom?
  11. Leaving aside parachute payments we could afford, based on crowds, to offer more, but if Swansea are interested.... Mind you, if they were wouldn't they too already have made an offer to Chelsea?
  12. Hmm, it's a view certainly held by a poster (or 2?) but I wouldn't use "popular".
  13. Yep! You've got a lot to answer for Duncan! It's been great entertainment, and always good for a little break from lesson preparation. Buy him a couple to loosen his tongue....
  14. How can Mack Krill not get a mention, let alone Corporate Ho?!
  15. Nah. They're going to use Fratton Park for training on smartbombs. All been organised with agreement of the current owners (whoever they are) to save on redevelopment demolition costs..
  16. I know, just when interest starts to flag... Interesting that both players volunteered to re-negotiate and take pay cuts.
  17. Yep, my local teams tournament. I hope to get a few minutes against Juventus ladies tomorrow!
  18. You don't even need that, just a good general education and an interest in the world around you. Any sailor would also understand as being taken aback is basically stalling the sail. If you sail short handed lots of sailors grab a 15 minute snooze using egg timer type devices, plus the radar alarm on. If you really go into a deep sleep we all know how disorienting it is when you wake up. When I drive across from Italy I have little 15/20 minute breaks if I'm getting tired and relax completely which really helps.
  19. England, Scotland, Wales, Irish Republic, Italy, San Marino, Vatican City, France, Belgium, Holland, all the Channel Islands, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Greece, Croatia, US, Canada, Hong Kong. A pretty poor record really, but I plead poverty plus when I was employed my holiday of choice was skiing. It might have been different if dad had helped me get a job with BA! Never been to Spain, which is surprising. I fancy doing a bit of long distance sailing so perhaps could add a few that way.
  20. From a selfish point of view living abroad I'd like us to go up purely so I can get to see Saints via the internet and occasionally in a local bar with Sky (only managed the FA cup game this season). I may well return to the UK in a year or so, even though there'd be less work for me than I have here, but I'd still want us to go up, and I'd scrape together for a season ticket, probably. My own hope is that Cortese's business model is to get up there and very quickly expand the stadium so that the prices are kept down and the crowds are kept up, giving a great synergy. He's seen what the stadium is like with a full crowd: the sheer buzz and excitement which also helps performances. We've seen how the Wigan's of this world can survive on small stadiums which aren't even full (and the accordingly poor atmosphere). We can do better than that and it won't necessarily mean Arsenal or MU type prices (both teams paying off bid debts).
  21. We're making contacts in the slightly wider solent community for when Pimpley fold.
  22. Living in Italy it's a shame I hate coffee! But you lot are uncouth: one uses loose tea.;-) Nah, I do use teabags when I'm in a hurry but I normally make a massive pot just for myself. Back in the UK in June which is just as well as I've only got a couple of packets left.
  23. AS was good, but I still remember Golac's debut alongside Nicholl. Gawd, I feel old.
  24. ..and we still look forward to our trips to SMS. B*****, aren't we! I'm going to have to extend my summer stay in the UK a little longer than usual just to get in a game as I'm arriving a bit earlier than usual and won't be earning for two months. Anybody in the Solent area need crew? Can I sell some changing room pics from my footie team (joke!). PS: Guys, Dune is just going with the zeitgeist byhighlighting another one of our threads which with the benefit of hindsight seem particularly amusing. Now he can be a bit of a wotsit at times but this time, young man, I shall give you the benefit of the doubt!
