  1. Shame it wasn't the team bus. Wouldn't want any serious injuries but a 3/4 out for a couple of weeks would have been interesting!
  2. Me too, and then said Speedie and Dixon would be better, given the right coaching. Idiotic statement.
  3. Well, it's 1am and just back from the match after a couple of pubs and rather too many pints. Great team perfomance and I'd add that there was no one who was an obvious substitution today, but what great 3 subs to bring on! I know Martin is inexperienced but he never really worried me, even though he was occasionally basic in clearing his lines (under orders I thought) and he has some useful pace. A good day....
  4. Only 4 on the bench today including Christian Dailly....
  5. Quite funny really. When I moved to Italy I was getting nearly €1.5 per £. It's now down to €1.15 per £ so thank goodness I've increased my Italian income. "Stable" is not a word I'd use! "Depreciating" might be better...
  6. With or without durtys?
  7. As of 15.27 4th august 2011....
  8. Hmm, I'd have the international clearance problem too, although with my high impact sport bra on and using the tape I normally use on my dodgy ankle I might be able to get away with it..
  9. You can get special dispensation from your Imam in special circumstances, so no excuses.
  10. Swiss footie has already started. I think they have a winter break though? I'm going for 27k and disappointed at that but I've a sneaky feeling I'll be pleasantly surprised.
  11. Isn't it Pilchards who climbs trees at the training ground? Time to send Agent P in the check who's there..
  12. Nothing. (Apart from not accepting that he wasn't going to make the grade and receiving pay for doing nothing). If he'd had any self-respect he'd have resigned, got a proper job and played footie part-time for his local non-league side.
  13. People would prefer to believe 22k and moan, although I have to agree that the marketing has been p-poor. I'm going so 1 more than usual: ticket bought by a mate so I have to pay him a 1 pint ticket tax...
  14. Just to highlight a bit from the press predictions thread - from The Guardian article: ;-)
  15. Yes, I saw that and laughed out loud. Whatever you may think of Cotterill they don't have anything like stability off the pitch.
  16. :-), well, I actually laugh at some or your sallies Mack. Corp and co just annoy me intensely. Our second team could have put up a decent show, so why didn't Pompey play theirs, they surely didn't take their whole squad to the US, surely?? For starters doubt they could have afforded to although I have to admit I've lost track on how many players they have at the club.
  17. Longest my current one - 5 years plus on a Fabia, shortest 10 months - bought a Marina for £100 and sold it for £70 so £30 for 10 months motoring along with a few pence and a pint for my friend to fit new brushes in the alternator...
  18. By De Ridder of Itchen There we stand up There we cheered When we remembered Stevie as per Boney M
  19. So after tonight's match does anyone want to confirm/change their opinion or ignore a pre-season friendly?
  20. Sounds like a printer's error on one particular batch. The club really shouldn't need to check someone else's work for every ticket - it's a big enough job as it is - and the tickets may well have been despatched direct from the printers anyway. I suspect that next year some other firm will be doing the job...

    Oslo blast

I suggest Dune doesn't return to this thread.
  22. True, but he was then working for Scun thorpe, who, I think it is safe to say, didn't have funds, let alone a European scouting network..
  23. Well, at least I've already started my own personal pre-season training so that I'm not completely shattered by my team's two week daily training regime when I get back in August. The only problem being in the UK at the moment is the pre-season training of drinking decent English beer which puts the weight on, but at least that will get me ready for Leeds and pre-and post match pints.. But yes, I agree with the OP and I do miss my footie, and if only we'd beaten the French on penalties...
  24. Well, I'm not Polisih [sic], but you only just about get out of this DP by that apology. Has nobody on this thread thought about how we regard the average, slightly corpulent, badly dressed, badly educated and sexist British male? (Less sexist than the average Italian male, mind).. The thing is, many of us more educated types are economically independent and don't have to conform to some stereotypical girlie idea that seems to be prevalent here. Plus the immigrants here tend to be the more intelligent or get-up-and-go types. You'd hate to meet a Ukrainian or French chavette from one of their social housing estates!
  25. Crikey, students are richer than my day! Anyway, most of them as I live abroad but will be here for Leeds, Barnsley if I can get a ticket and the Boxing Day match if I come over by car, hire one or can get a lift from Maidenhead. I'd probably manage the Cup Final if we got to that and I'm assuming automatic promotion so no need to get to the play-offs (cough, cough).
