  1. Been done loads, but a fun thread. Rasiak - Derby away in the playoffs.
  2. MLG isn't a person, it's a computer program. I believe it was written by one of stevegrant's ex team-mates who was a computer wizz, so that the forum could be more factually accurate. It appears to be becoming outdated and tedious however.
  3. If he'd gone to United, City, Arsenal, Chelsea or abroad I'd have wished him well I think. As it is, I hope he's a flop and Liverpool have another shocking defence this season.
  4. Jesus Sarnia, give it a rest. You have no credibility, and I think most people believe you're either a troll or have learning difficulties. When someone quotes the horrendous handgun death toll numbers and you reply with 'God Bless America', nobody is going to take you anywhere near seriously. Go careful out there, don't get shot.
  5. I'm much better at the longer stuff with running, 10 mile up to marathon distance. Will be interesting to see if it's the same with cycling.
  6. Yeah I'll definitely be doing that, there are club rides most nights and plenty of speedwork options. I need to get a bike fit done first I think, knee is a bit sore from Saturday and I'm not sure I've got it set up right. I'm a runner so know all about LT training, and the zones I need to be in for Vo2 max improvement etc, just trying to get some good base mileage under my belt before I go too nuts. I'm still trying to get rid of some tendinitis in my knee as well. Cycling doesn't seem to aggravate it much but I'm wary of it anyway.
  7. The Tri ride that goes through is a drop ride, and so out of my league. I've got less than 350 miles under my belt and I've never even cycled the distance for the full route. I tried to hang on the back last weekend but got dropped within a couple of mins, the full route is about 80 minutes for the quickest guys. For me doing the shorter route is still a big ask as I'd never done over 50k until last week and these are 100k+ rides. I definitely need more miles and to be considerably faster to even think about trying to hang on for the full lap. There are plenty of quick guys who get dropped on the full circuit, guys who race regularly. A newbie hasn't got a chance
  8. Good mileage even if it was hard going! Sounds eventful. Out again with this club ride yesterday morning out in the forest in the sun. 12 of us headed out from Chilworth and there must have been another 15 or so on the Soton tri club ride that we met with after a couple of hours. A few of us took the shorter route back to Bealieu because the pace is too quick for some of us on the Tri ride. Starting to see improvement now. https://www.strava.com/activities/333917643
  9. That's insane
  10. This thread will go on forever, or at least until there is a better alternative to the Internet. Things I think are wrong with America: SarniaSaint Too many f*cking guns Portion sizes Desserts for breakfast The whole 'bigger is better' attitude to everything Guns Their self proclaimed 'World Police' status EVERYTHING is exaggerated Guns Attitude towards policing and jailing as many people as possible Baseball 'Football' 'Commercials' Bastardising a perfectly good language Guns Think that about covers it
  11. Threw myself in at the deep end today and went out with this club ride. Previous longest ride was around 50k, did 105k today. Myself and 7 others set off into the Forest for a couple of hours of no drop 'easy miles' (for them, not for me) doing lots of through and off which was new to me. Then stopped at the top of Bramshaw hill for this Sotonia CC ride to catch up. I couldn't believe how quick that group was, I got dropped within a mile, met back up with some guys who weren't going to keep pace with them and we took a shorter route to the regrouping point in Beaulieu. I was completely out of my depth with most of the guys who were out but hung on at the back for the ride back into Southampton then home to Sholing. I was the slowest guy out there but I've got less than 300 miles under my belt since buying the bike. Lots to learn and loads of room for improvement, the guys I was out with were encouraging and didn't seem to mind having to carry me a bit at times.
  12. Obama - "I've had to make statements like this too many times" "This type of violence does not happen in other advanced countries"
  13. Those who died probably weren't armed, that's probably why this happened. I'm sure there will be some kind of public service announcement to tell people to be vigilant and ready to defend themselves at any point. Maybe machine guns next to the church alter? Sarnia, what do you reckon?
  14. Pretty much this.
  15. Averaged 18mph over a 22 miler the night before last, starting to get a bit quicker where the road points skywards. There's a cycling team based in Woolston called DHC racing, they haven't done it for a while but they've just restarted their cycling 'club', lots of group rides going on in the area. I'll be getting out there with them as soon as I can.

Henry's was really good, apart from the weather at the start of the week. We were pitching the tent in that ****ing rain and wind on Monday and didn't sleep a wink that first night. Lizard Point and Kynance Cove and the coastal paths around that area were brilliant. Went to St Mawes, Land's End, St Ives, couple of other places which were all good. Lots of good food and drink. Then the weekend in Newquay which was interesting. Some lads I know were there for the weekend so we were out in the evenings. Absolute sausage fest, must have been 10 blokes to every girl in the bars and clubs, and far too many stag dos. Lots of tw*ttish behaviour because of it and made it a weird atmosphere.
  17. Never. Just a hunch.
  18. Does an offer that low even warrant an official rejection? We should put in a £15m bid for Coutinho just for a laugh and a massive f*ck you to Brendan
  19. Trigger end. Pretty much, yes. I wasn't expecting you to appreciate it, but yeah I thought it was pretty good.
  20. Brilliant again. You may not get many replies on this thread but I bet there are loads like me who read every week and thoroughly enjoy it. Thanks for doing it!
  21. I'm sure Sepp Blatter would rather take a bullet in the head than give up his presidency, it makes complete sense to involve the yanks in getting rid of him.
  22. I feel we're making progress, at least you're starting to get on board with the thread topic. In summary - too many f*cking guns, and morons on the other end of them.
  23. Cheers for the advice!
  24. Also, what's the consensus on these Wiggle sportives? Looking at the New Forest 100 in September as something to train for.
  25. 52k earlier which is my longest ride yet. Hopefully won't be too long before that's just a quick one. One question - what do you big milers do for undercarriage protection? I know I should buy some better quality shorts, but is it going to make THAT much of a difference? Was a bit uncomfortable earlier. The roads were pretty bumpy in places but that's going to be the case in a lot of places.
