  1. i think it was at the time saints were 1.0 up but playing pretty poor, i said to my son, swindon are going to score, lets hope its sooner so we wake things up, rather than late in the game so we end up with a draw, i too hate anyone talking about soaps etc during the game
  2. at the Swindon game i was accused by the woman who stands next to me of not taking saints games serious enough, regularly read this forum, only occasionally post, Been a saints regular since the late 60's, season ticket holder in the northam, do about 6-10 away games a season love the match day experience, which starts as soon as i get to the pub at 12.30, enjoy the whole day with a smile, love verbally praising or abusing the players whichever seems fit on the day, yes i often may say unpopular comments, but they are my opinion as i see it. if saints lose i soon get over it, if saints don't go up this season, que sera sera, i will still renew my season tickets, basically i do have a life away from football. How serious or blinded should you be as a saints Fan ?
  3. many examples of how right you are, many managers are right for some clubs but wrong for others, strachan was great here, i doubt if coventry or boro fans would have the same opinion
  4. me too, automatic promotion is so boring , three awesome days there
  5. just done the bbc predictor thing, i have us finishing 6th brighton charlton bournemouth peterborough huddersfield SAINTS we are well capable of beating anyone over 2 games, so time to look for manchester flights & hotels i think
  6. well said Steve, i really don't get this anti NI attitude that many have, i think its just some kind of jealousy, I've met him many times but can't say i actually know him, in my opinion, he is 100% saints and has the fans view in general at heart, and is prepared to speak out and do something whilst others just sit back & moan
  7. fantastic last season, ok this season, would he be good enough in the championship next season for us, i'm really not sure
  8. the best suggestion yet
  9. season ticket holders should get their own tickets for £30, there after it should be £35
  10. to put this into some perspective, i'm a season ticket holder in the northam, saw there fans try to come through to the saints bit, but they soon got chased back through, so no real problem, after that walked up to the high street with six mates we were amongst the group of bournemouth fans, in general i thought they were ok, they all thought they had been robbed in the game, put after further conversations, they all agreed that we were the better side, even admitting there is no chance of them finishing above us, but they are enjoying the moment. which is fair comment, what i'm trying to say is like all clubs they have a few idiots (we have quite a few) but in general they were a fairly decent bunch
  11. cant see how we are second favourites to be honest, but the league is quite weak, so a good run could see us quickly rise up the table
  12. http://www.skybet.com/betting/football/npower-league-1/npower-league-1-winner-10-11/e12314416.html despite everything we are second favourites, as bookies are seldom wrong, we have no worries, automatic promotion it is then
  13. it turns out i was over optimistic with my predictions
  14. 5 of them are away !!!! Saturday, 28 August 2010- Bristol Rovers v Southampton, 15:00 Saturday, 4 September 2010- Southampton v Rochdale, 15:00 Saturday, 11 September 2010- Swindon v Southampton, 15:00 Wednesday, 15 September 2010- MK Dons v Southampton, 19:45 Saturday, 18 September 2010- Southampton v Colchester, 15:00 Saturday, 25 September 2010- Sheff Wed v Southampton, 15:00 Tuesday, 28 September 2010- Yeovil v Southampton, 19:45 i can only see 3 wins & 2 draws out of those games, which will mean we will have just 12 points from our first nine games, i think this could be the end of Pards !
  15. This is always a difficult one, different eras etc, the age of the voter etc, le tiss who is most of our all time saints favourites should never get into the best saints side ever, but i bet he did!! no way as a striker would he be chosen over keegan, channon, shearer, ron davies, martin chivers etc etc and as a midfielder, paine, ball. case, steve williams, david armstrong etc etc would all be ahead of him
  16. concourse areas should be extended, more food and drink outlets and yes a smoking area, the club would make loads more money, so many people i know dont bother at half time cause its too packed & its nearly impossible to have a beer without missing some of the match, i can only comment for the northam, dont know what other stands are like
  17. but some people will always stand, i know its not within the law but its always gonna happen, at least if the northam crowd were together, it would not annoy others that want to sit, you could have the option of choosing to sit amongst regular northam end supporters or not
  18. and all away games for that matter when tickets are issued, would it not be possible to get singing fans together? where i was at wembley there were 12 of us trying to sing, around us were 100's of saints fans that didn't, they just reported us to the stewards for keep standing, to me i am a lively supporter get really into every game, but i understand that others just want to sit back quietly and enjoy the game surely they could reserve an area that would create a lot of noise, all of the northam block 41/42 should be guaranteed a place together, from where i was at times it seemed there were about 6 different songs being tried to be sung at the same time from small pockets of singing fans, if you had the vocal element together, it would just take off
  19. cheating should either be strictly dealt with, after using tv evidence or accepted as part of the game, difficult one really, if one of our players were to cheat to get us a win, would we moan,?
  20. i too had the crap train trip from soton central, got at the station at 6.30, got on the 7.55 train, jammed in like sardines, i was stood the whole journey with the carridge door digging me in the back every 10 seconds trying to close, it was so packed i couldn't even get the room to take my coat off, i honestly dont think that was in any way a safe way to travel My point is if you are running a coach, when you get 50 tickets sold, you either put on an extra coach, or you stop selling tickets!!! once we got to london it was not a problem, the underground system is good, a fantastic day, then couldn't believe it when we went to go home at 8.30pm the train was packed again, not quite as bad as the morning but still 100s of people without seats, then got to eastleigh and they made everyone get into the front 5 Carriages, that was an unbearable squeeze, fortunately not for long
  21. i think saints fans who didn't want glenda back realise it was not lowe but them that cost us our premier league status
  22. thanks
  23. does anyone know if season ticket holders still are entittled to 2 tickets after the first period of selling basically going with mates who cant get there tickets till next week, want to get all the tickets together

    Trouble?

have i just gone back to the 70s, maybe its just me, but this sort of crap is so lower league mentality my story, had a few beers in the farmhouse went & watched the game, sung my heart out, then went home, i never saw a pompey fan outside the ground at all, probably quite boring but i enjoyed the day
  25. lets not get carried away here, we have had two 30k gates, one in a game to get to wembley, the other against pompey, we dont really need a bigger stadium for a while yet
