I certainly believe. Unless you're incredibly gullible, it's obvious. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

It's easy to take that line, but if you think through the bigger situation, it's far too simplistic. We have no bids, because we've said he's not for sale. If we now say we want rid, and invite bids, we halve his value. As he's declared Scouseland to be the promised land and Klopp the Messiah, they'll be able to drop the offer even lower since there will be no opposition. Going well so far, isn't it? And then, as has been discussed on here as nauseam, this will give out the message to any of our players that, no matter how long their contract, and how determined Saints are to keep them, if you have a big enough tantrum you can create the situation in which fans and the club will give in and say, "Too much trouble. Get him out of the club now" In other words, players can ignore contracts and always get their own way. It also gives the message to other clubs that it's easy to get our players. Just break the rules, let them know you're interested, turn their heads and tell them to go on strike. At some point this has to stop, or the future of football is bleak. So, IMO, Saints gave a big responsibility to hold firm. £75m, upfront, no add-ons, or he stays. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Absolutely. This really is quite ridiculous. Agent simply says he expects the move to happen. In other words, he's desperate for the move to happen and thinks this might create a bit more pressure. It changes nothing. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

That's not the point at all. The blatent manipulation of the betting market is so obvious, and has been explained on this forum time and time again. I can't believe there hasn't been an investigation into it yet, and I'm even more incredulous that idiot punters are still taken in. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Thanks. Wasn't in the FB post. It's not a lot, and difficult to guage how they'll go. Plenty of Soton-based ST holders won't bother, but then the attraction of a new ground will sell quite a few. Attractive to Northern Saints like me, but not that many STs. My guess is it won't go past ST and maybe not that far. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Yep. Will take quite a U-turn if we invite Liverpool to bid. This makes me feel we should be more determined to tough it out and tell Virgil he's going nowhere this year. Give us a good season and we'll be fair next year. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Simple. Comparison with other fees, and he's probably the best CB available. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

They haven't offered anything. They withdrew interest before they got that far. They've used their usual plants in the media to rubbish the idea he's worth anything like that much and suggest £40-50m Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I liked the idea of capping transfer fees at £40m. Fair price for Coutinho. #freecoutinho Although Scouse logic probably defines the cap for incoming only. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

The price is certainly not way over the top. Didn't Stones go for £50m? Virgil is much better, and prices have rocketed anyway. If no-one will pay now, wait. They will. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I had that thought too. Very possible. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I would be moderately less disgruntled with that. I still think we'd be made to look slightly ridiculous, having threatened Liverpool, got an apology and agreement to end interest, only to say ok, carry on. Rather like finding your other half is playing away. He/she says sorry, won't do it again, so you say ok. Then a couple of weeks later they're at it again so you say actually it's ok. And I still want a condition that he has to put in a transfer request and forego his bonus. Its ridiculous to expect a loyalty bonus for being disloyal. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
