I didn’t need it, just thought it was an interesting perspective from someone who clearly knows more about the situation than you or I. Is that OK with you?

Think it gives an insight into what Israel is doing to Gaza now.
  3. Short term pain for long term gain. The switch to renewables is inevitable, if we become world leaders in the technology our economy will benefit as well as our environment. Digging stuff up and burning it for energy is just not sustainable, when you read about the possible effects of runaway global warming it would be negligent of us not to act for the sake of future generations.
  4. They are not doing enough but it’s still not correct to say are doing nothing about their emissions, their emissions would be higher if they were not investing in renewables. Our attempt at combating climate change is going pathetically badly, you get the feeling millions are going to have to die before any meaningful action is taken. Still think it’s right that developed countries lead the way because change has to happen at some point.
  5. It's not a stretch of the imagination to believe that some people are born with a condition that makes them want to be a different gender, just like some people are born to be attracted to the same sex? If it is an illness that can be cured why did the WHO change it's classification?
  6. Isn't that just called progress? I mean people like you were arguing that being gay was an illness not long ago.
  7. Gender dysphoria is not a mental illness so that analogy is bollocks. People used to think being gay was an illness, as long as you see it that way there is no helping you. The trans person I worked with went through great effort to make her self look like she did (more than most of the other women in my workplace), she was clearly happy living her life like she was, harming no-one. What exactly would you achieve be calling her a he and telling her she was a man because she was born with a cock? Live and let live I say.
  8. A quick google and I found a study that concluded this: Gender-based victimization, discrimination, bullying, violence, being rejected by the family, friends, and community; harassment by intimate partner, family members, police and public; discrimination and ill treatment at health-care system are the major risk factors that influence the suicidal behavior among transgender persons. Whatever the reason for the suicide rate surely the fact that it is so high means they should be treated with kindness and respect? I worked with a transexual woman a while ago and she was great. I have no idea what genitalia she had but apart from having a cracking set of tits she was clearly a transexual. She obviously felt comfortable living as a woman and made a huge effort in her appearance - IMO it would be out of order to not refer to her as a woman. It's attitudes like yours which contribute to their problems.
  9. The problem is, if Starmer backs a cease-fire then the Israeli lobby over here will cry 'antisemitism', the Tories will follow suit and you end up with 'LABOUR ANTI-SEMITSM' headlines in the gutter press again. It's a difficult call but whatever we do our here won't make the slightest difference to what Israel do anyway so he's probably doing the right thing for the Labour Party.
  10. If it meant that much to someone I wouldn't give a shit. I don't get what half these gender terms even mean but just think it's right to treat people with respect, whoever they are or whatever they want to be called. No skin off my nose.
  11. To be honest, I think anyone who has issues with calling someone 'they' instead of 'she' has their own set of problems.
  12. At least they have sacked the cunt.

Nobody has said that, surely even you can see she made things worse. According to some reports some far right thugs were even name dropping her and quoting her to the plod.

Those banners are disgusting but what sort of cunt spends Armistice day getting pissed up, fighting the police and shouting racist abuse. Absolute scum.

I wouldn't worry about it. Our grandparents fought the Nazis so that we had rights like the right to protest peacefully. Hopefully the wanna-be Jihadists and statue protecters fuck-off and leave the sensible people to make the day a peaceful and respectful one. I doubt it though after all the hype, the whole area will be a bell-end magnet now.

Not just me: The organiser of the sole Armistice Day event at the Cenotaph in central London has given his support for the pro-Palestine march in central London on Saturday. Richard Hughes, from the Western Front Association, a charity that holds a commemoration on 11 November for the casualties of the first world war, said his organisation believed in “freedom of speech”. “I think a lot of people are trying to whip this up,” said Hughes, the association’s legal trustee, who is also responsible for organising the annual commemoration. “The police are not going to let anyone near the Cenotaph. We are a democratic organisation that commemorates those who fought for democracy, so free speech is important.”

I have been to one actually but it's not something the vast majority of people on Saturday will be doing.

That's just two minutes of it isn't it? The rest of the day everybody will just spend it shopping, getting pissed, watching football, wanking off over pornhub or whatever people usually do on Saturdays. Marching for an armistice on Armistice day is not exactly inappropriate in comparison. The march doesn't clash with the 2 minutes silence or go anywhere near the cenotaph, hopefully it won't be spoilt but after all the hype from the Tories and the gutter press there is bound to be some dickheads out to prove a point now.

More people marched to stop the Iraq war and that was nothing to do with Jews, fact is the Israel/Palestine situation has always been a controversial issue here because we helped create it. Plus our government has pledged our support for whatever Israel does so it's bound to encourage protests from people who do not agree. When other Arabs see their people getting killed they see us as partly responsible so if effects us all. I don't have a problem with any race or religion. All religions are a bunch of fucked up fairy-tales anyway but as long as it doesn't harm me I couldn't give a monkeys what people believe. If you want to label someone as anti-semitic you are barking up the wrong tree with me. My parents brought me up to despise anti-semitism as my Nan only survived the blitz in London because of the kindness of a Jewish family. One of my first jobs was with a Jewish family run business in North London and they were fantastic people. The grandfather was actually a holocaust survivor so I have a good idea of what they have to put up with. The only problem I have is with what Israel is doing, not everyone in Israel is Jewish and what the government is doing is not even supported by everyone there so it's lazy to just cry anti-semitism.

This is getting boring now. I thought we were talking about comparing the actions of a country to the Nazis? I only mentioned it because I read a piece written by a Jew who did exactly that and he explained why. He was so ashamed by the actions of Israel that he made the comparison because he knew how Israelis thought about the holocaust and that the comparison would make them understand how the innocent Palestinians would be feeling. Or maybe he just hates all Jews?

I'm not pretending it's simple but the bottom line is if you steal peoples land and force them to live in a world of shit some of them will want to kill you. Whatever the history and complexities that was the situation prior to 7/10, it was simply not sustainable.

Bless you for not understanding but I was talking about Palestinian people not Hamas. Unless the reason WHY groups like Hamas get so much support is deal with there will always be a security threat to Israel and another 7/10. I did answer your question, the best start Israel can make to keeping their people safe is to stop stealing land and building illegal settlements whilst making Palestinians live in a world of shit under the blockade. If they have no hope of a decent life some are bound to want to take up arms and join groups like Hamas.
