Yeah it did. Just because the people who currently run the church are a bunch of bigots that doesn't mean you can't be gay and Christian. Jesus had a beard and wore sandals FFS. He was obviously a liberal. I reckon he would have been well chilled out about the whole gay thing.

I'm not expert on the Christian religion but from what I have read I reckon Jesus, if he did exist, wouldn't be homophobic. Or sexist for that matter. The rules seem to be made by a bunch of old bigots, I don't see why you can't be a Christian just because of who you fall in love with.

I have already said that I am guilty of being greedy myself. We all are, like I said it's ingrained in our way of life. It's just that some people are more greedy than others

Child benefit was set up after the war to make sure kids didn't live in poverty, not so that rich people can have an extra couple of bottles of Chablis a week without effecting their disposable income. It's been long overdue an overhaul, especially with the economy being so screwed. In most countries it is means tested.

It's greedy to moan about not getting handouts when there are people in genuine hardship. If I had £20 a week taken off me it would be like a fart in a jacuzzi, wouldn't notice in the slightest.

It's nothing to do with tax. Everyone pays tax, the more we earn the more we pay. That's just the way it is, and it's fair. You give back to society part of what you have taken. Handouts are handouts.

If I pay someone cash it's up to them if they want to pay tax on it. Anyway I include myself when I say society is greedy, we have all grown up in a system where greed is good. 50K earners crying like babies when they have their had outs taken away is just a really sick example.

Nope. I'm not in the top tax bracket but me and my wife earn above average salaries. I wouldn't expect handouts if I had a kid.

Well at least we all agree then. I would cut it much further, it's a completely outdated idea. When the news broke I was amazed that people earning so much got the benefits. even in a good financial climate it would be better targeted to people who need it, not just want it. I hate dole scroungers but at least they would spend it not just shove it in a bank.
