I love the sweeoing statements and generalisations that people chuck out on here. Firstly, I do use the closest car park, opposite SMS and have done so since the stadium opened. I have no disabilities and am certainly not rich. I share the driving and cost of car parking with other people. Secondly, if you read my OP, my comment was about the substantial rise in the cost and the reduction in the times when it can be used not how much it worked out per game.

+1. You should come on here more often, talking sense like that!

TBH I am not really that worked up about it. If true, it would be a shame, but I am more hacked off that my enjoyment of this forum has been compromised by the advent of the DBP/SRS Show where all I see on virtually every thread is you banging your drum about what a ****** NC is. You do have some valid points but sadly they are being lost in the continual waterfall af anti- Cortese vitriol. Sometimes "Less is More"

Some people will still blame him though.

So we assume that the original post is 100% correct and march on SMS with our flaming torches and pitchforks? Or do we reserve judgment until the facts can be verified? Depends on your agenda, I suppose.

[/b] She did say that the club had subsidised the parking prevously and that they had been told that all aspect of the club had to at least cover costs.

I rang the club and asked about CP renewal as I hadn`t heard anything. I used the gravel yard right opposite the stadium. I was told that this was now not going to be available as they only now had use of half of it and it will be used for disabled etc but the cost for Cat A would be £200 but only for League games. She said that we had a couple of weeks to renew and that they were "hoping" to get some letters out soon.

Like last year? From an earlier post by Dav :- "Dan Harding, 21 July 2009 Rickie Lambert, 11 August 2009 Dean Hammond, 20 August 2009 Radhi Jaidi, 3 September 2009 Add in the loanees... Jacob Melliss, 14 August 2009 Neal trotman, 19 August 2009 Pap Waigo, 1 September 2009 Michail Antonio, 5 October 2009 So last season we signed just 1 player before the start of the season."

My daughter very recently married a Skate on the Isle of Wight. Needless to say, the Father of the Bride speech was littered with "jokey" anti-Skate remarks which went down well with 50% of the people there! The reception was followed by a 20 a side Saints v Skates football match in the grounds of the hall (everyone still in their wedding attire!) which Saints won 10 - 7 although in true Skate style they claimed that they actually won by the same score!!

I do apologise. I didn`t realise that moaning wasn`t allowed on an internet forum. How remiss of me. I am really pleased that you take such a great interest in how I spend my money and letting me know if it is money well spent or not. I am grateful for the advice that you have so freely given, without which my life would never be the same. I see it all so clearly now. Thank You.

Is Cortese deliberately trying to annoy the fans.
miserableoldgit replied to landford.saint's topic in The Saints
No. Success or failure for Saint is not simply about season ticket sales or the number of bums on seats. For NC it will be whether the club makes/ doesn`t lose money this year. Success on the pitch (TV money, prize money, commercial opportunities etc) plus more money from the fans that do go will all be part of that. You could have 32,000 at each home game, but if the club is mangaged badly (not in the AP sense) you could still make a loss. Ask P*mpey. I may be that NC has miscalculated things. I personally think that the lack of communication with the fans is his biggest mistake but as I say, Time Will Tell. -

The only answer is "Time Will Tell". This time next year we will all know if Mr Cortese`s strategy has worked. If it hasn`t, no doubt he will change it. -

Really? -
Once again someone who hasn`t bothered to actually read the thread but wants to make sweeping statements. The thread is about the sharp rise in cost for car parking this year. Oh, and I am absolutely positive that no club north of Watford has any car-parking close to their stadiums -hard northern bastards that they are!

Mass rush expected for season tickets tomorrow?
miserableoldgit replied to Liquidshokk's topic in The Saints
He is far too busy to reply ATM:- David Brent[/b];769204]I am currently working on the setup and implementation of a sales and marketing strategy for a blue-chip company, as they expand their business into a new Industry sector. I have also been involved previously in the setup of various sales channels for another multi-million pound business ( on a more junior level though ) dealing with print and digital advertising specifically. Lastly, I was a membership sales manager for a well known gymnasium in the Southampton area, tasked with creating sales initiatives to drive sales and bring people into the club, through outreach / corporate events and advertising etc. Is that enough for you? -
There. Altered it for you.

It is not about paying to park, I have always done that. It was a comment about the amount of increase in the price and the fact that you are getting less for it. How about actually reading the thread before commenting? Not exactly hard is it? Meh.....

Up to 17 posts a day now Stu! Still posting from work?? How are you finding the time with all of that high-powered advertising/business stuff that you do?? -
It`s not a common view. As is usual, it is the few people who don`t like it, for whatever reason, who have made the most noise. I suspect the vast majority, like myself, who are not worried one way or the other, have kept fairly silent on the matter. Look at the people whio are banging on about Cortese - the same vociferous handful, yet reading this forum, you would think that there that there was out and out rebellion! How many subscribers - how many complaints?

Mass rush expected for season tickets tomorrow?
miserableoldgit replied to Liquidshokk's topic in The Saints
As part of your great business knowledge, can you tell me how much profit there is in a season ticket to make, for example, the sale of 5 tickets cover the cost of a radio advert, or 3 tickets cover the cost of an Echo advert?? -
Firstly, it`s not what it was! I have had a parking ticket opposite SMS since the stadium opened. The costs have risen every year and I have not complained. This year it will go from £130 to £200 and will not cover Cup games (another £10.50 per game) and you think that I should just accept it without saying anything? Secondly "Our club MUST run profitably - agreed not at the expense of the masses". So the small minority must pay for the club to run as a viable concern, not "the masses?". I think that it`s you that needs to get over yourself!

My problem with this is that firstly, they are trying to change the way that things have been done in one go - a more phased approach would probably have been more acceptable to the fans - and there has been little, or in most cases, no communication with the fans on this. I don`t think that anyone can argue with the principle of the club being run as an efficient business, bearing in mind what has happened down the M27
