Came across a nearly new copy of a biography of Nelson, written by CS Forester and published in 1929. I was obviously aware of his "Hornblower" series, but didn't know about this. A very good read!

You are assumimg that we are able to move the "dross" at a price that suits/helps us......that isn't guaranteed. It would appear that if we fail to do this, we will struggle to improve the team much further. The point is that despite winning "the richest one-off game in World football", we can only improve the team by balancing the books. We have to manage with one hand tied behind our back while watching the "Top Six" spend/waste money like it is going out of fashion. The thought that "we are back in the big time" is often tempered by asking "can we really afford it and is it really worth it?"

Whilst this is undoubtedly true, the overall feeling/message is that we are not in a position financially to greatly improve the squad/team, so expectations are low.

On the face of it, not an unrealistic or unfair prediction, but things can change between now and the end of the transfer window.....time will tell!

This is a genuine question.....not having a go. I remember thinking this towards the end of last season. We had many "heart in mouth" moments with the tippy-tapping around the back, in our own goal area, but how many of our 63 goals against were conceded whilst doing this? Don't actually remember that many.

My thoughts on this are much simpler. What has he actually done since that short purple patch with us? How does his goal return compare with e.g. Che Adams? He seems to have scored a total of 18 goal in his career. I would love to be wrong, but what is the attraction? Mainly on here I suspect. A bit understandable. Last season was a real mixture of (mainly) highs and (some) lows. We managed to finish on an unforgettable high at Wembley, when we acheived our return to the "Promised Land" of the EPL. Since then, reality has kicked in and the (percieved) lack of any "Marquee" signings, and the realistic prospect of there not being any, has brought home the fact that next season is liable to be a struggle rather than a triumphant return.

The problem is that Brighton seem to be a well run club with a habit of finding hidden gems on the transfer market and have a decent succession in the management dept. We have been a bit of a basket-case for a while......I wish we were Brighton!😊
