If you had read my posts when Pearson was appointed (you really should try and read, and digest, before you post:rolleyes::rolleyes:), then I was quite clear that Crouch would have to take responsibility for the appointment. Following the Dodd & Gorman debacle, then I was quite clear that if Pearson failed, then Crouch would have had to take repsonsibility. You see, I judge people by their actions and try as far as possible to be consistent in my treatment of them. I wasn't shy in praising Lowe when he did well (and for a few years he did very well), and I wouldn't have been shy in criticising Crouch if I felt it was justified. But of course, that just wouldn't fit in with your blinkered approach on things;) At the end of last season we finished on a points per game ratio of 1.2+, not outstanding, but something to be built on. We had a manager who had the support of the fans and there was a feeling around the place that at last we had something to get behind. We are now on less than a point a game, probably in the relegation zone by the end of this week, 22nd in the current form table and with a Club that is tearing itself apart. No one will ever know whether Pearson would have been just as awful as Poortvliet is turning out to be, but I think if you took a straw poll then I reckon a clear majority (including my nephew) would say that they would have thought that Pearson would have performed better. Which way would you vote??? :smt044:smt044:smt044

Did anyone understand what JP was saying after the match??

But by the same token if his run of 1.2+ points per game wasn't that fantastic, then WTF does that say about Jan's return of less than a pont per game!!!!!! I actually think Pearson's tenure wasn't sensational, but given what he inherited (someone said 3 points from 18 and embarrassed at Bristol Rovers) and the context of a relegation battle it wasn't that bad. -
Getting rid of Lowe may not solve all of the problems we are now faced with, but I think it's safe to say getting Lowe in certainly ratcheted up our problems. His first major decision in firing Pearson and hiring Poortvliet is proving to be another major fccukc up, up there with the appointment of Wigley in that relegation season.
-
To be fair to Lowe, he is in quite good company. For some reason football seems to attract weirdos, egomaniacs and failures!!!!! George Reynolds, Bates, Knighton, Goldberg, Scully, Maxwell, Alex Hamilton, you could go on and on and on.

LMFAO:D:D:D When he first said all that stuff in the Annual Report I was wetting myself, now six games on and 3 points out of 18, I'm almost crying!!!! I wonder what Iwelumo's current take on it all is?????

I don't for one minute think Crouch has been sitting idly by watching all this unfold. Whether he is being met by a brick wall is another matter. -

Rewind a bit and ask yourself why no "big" team has ever come knocking on his door. He's shiiyt here and he'd be shyyt at an even higher level. His CV shows one team of any real distinction and even that job was temporary for less than a season whilst the "real" manager got his coaching badges!!!!!!!! -

For Poortvliet, read Wigley. Both are obviously really nice guys, both tried their best, but both were/are out of their depth. I can't blame Poortvliet for taking the job on, but I do think the twrat he appointed him should be held responsible. We had a manager of reasonable standard who was fully supported by the fan base, so wh the fckukc was he sacked???? Jan to go and Lowe to stand down. -
If we lose all three, then the best that we can hope for would be to be 4th bottom, but with only one point between us and all three teams below us. In reality, I think it would mean we would be in the bottom three. However, I reckon we could get 4 or 5 points out of that lot, as I think the way Reading play suits us and think we could sneak a draw from at least one of the two away games. Hopefully that will be enough to keep us above Forest who must be our immediate rivals.
-
Quite a few of the teams around us are playing each other over the next three games which is rather worrying. Forest have Home to Doncaster Away to Norwich Away to Charlton Given their current form (11th), and with these fixtures, I think they're in with a chance of a few points. Charlton have: QPR (h) Sheff Utd (a) Forest (h) Current form is rock bottom and with exception of Forest game (which of course would take points off Forest), think they will struggle to pick up points. Doncaster have: Forest (a) Burnley (h) Bristol City (h) Their current form is 15th, so could get some points. Norwich have: Palace (a) Forest (h) Charlton (a) Current form is 16th and as they have 4 points on us, we could probably do with them winning the last two, even if it oulls them away from us. We have: Plymouth (a) Reading (h) Barnsley (a) Current form is 22nd and whilst not the easiest of games, we will have to raise our game big time to avoid starting the new year in the bottom three!!!!!!!!!!

We could go back to Southampton St Mary's, St Mary's Young Men's Association FC or St Mary's FC, or go for the names of other teams who I used to watch in the late 1800's such as Southampton Rangers or Southampton Harriers.

The simplest solution to get Lowe to step aside would be if Wilde withdrew his support. Considering he led the charge last time round to cut the head off the snake, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he realises backing Lowe to be CEO was a mistake. That would probably be enough to remove him. Additionally if Askham and/or Richards also withdrew their support then he would be a dead man walking. There must come a time when these two finally see sense and realise he should not be in any executive capacity. There's no doubt that these three supported the original plan, as did many posters on here, but I wonder if they are now reconsidering this position????

Administration is the ONLY way to break this downward spiral

I think you'll find I would think exactly the same irrespective of who was Chairman. The one thing I have a strong opinion on is the need to accept responsibility. If you're happy to take the money and the plaudits when things are going well, then you should have the balls to accept responsibility when things go pear shaped. Mistakes of the magnitude of Wigley (along with how the appointment came about) and the cost of it to the Club were big enough to consider asking those involved to step down, and IMHO so is this decision. Lowe is intrinsically linked with this "Revolutionary Coaching Set Up" and so if Jan goes, then IMHO Lowe's position is untenable. -
I don't for one minute think Lowe would vote against himself , but with less than 6% that does mean that over 94% could. At the moment, it would not appear that that will happen, but that's not to say it couldn't (or wouldn't). The 6% this turkey holds may not vote for Xmas, but the other shareholdrs could easily outvote him. It may not be a solution, because there is no guarantee it would solve out problems, but the idea that there is no alternative to Lowe as CEO is ridiculous in the extreme. Just as every football club has a manger, then almost every club has a CEO. They are not a rare breed. How do you think other clubs and companies get it to work. Unlike our "Revolutionary Coaching Set Up", there's nothing revolutionary about appointing a CEO and getting him/her to run the business on a day to day basis.
-
Exactly, but that hasn't stopped people connected to the new regime claiming that was indeed the case, then feeding certain individuals these little tales in hope that they will get out and in turn be seen as gospel!!!!! It would appear that rather than boast that Jan and the "Revolutionary Coaching Set Up" are the way forward and part of a long term vision, some are now trying to say we had no choice!!!!!!

In Jan I see Wigley, and we all know how that season ended!!!!!!!! And if Jan goes, then IMHO Lowe must walk as well. -
Yours may be unintentional (whereas others are definitley intentional), but the little tales about Paul Allen, Pearson not willing to work under financial constraints etc are all attempts by those connected to the current regime to divert attention from our more pressing worries.

And if we get relegated this season, then I presume it will be the fault of Lallana for that missed penalty or White for giving away a penalty against Blackpool. It will have nothing to do with Lowe employing a manager so out of his depth it's unbelievable???? -
And it serves the new board well to start spreading little stories and tales denigrating the old regimes. Tales that are then peddled by some in a bid to divert people's attention away from the more pressing issues, and failings of today.

What was left????? I think you'll find we added quite a bit to what was left!!!! Since Lowe came in we have brought in: A New Head Coach A New Assistant A Ne whatever Wotte does PLUS Twelve new players That's a lot of choices!!!!!
-
I don't think we have many institutions with shares in the Club, at least none in excess of 3% (with the exception of one samll amount). Our shares stack up something like: Lowe has less than 6% His cabal have circa 20% (Askham, Richards, Withers etc) Wilde has circa 16% Crouch has circa 10% The Corbett's circa 6% That leaves circa 40% out there up for grabs. With 42%, Wilde and Lowe have a base and in the absence of the remaining 58% not pulling together, nothing will change. Wilde certainly has the power to bring about change, as do some in Lowe's cabal and if the remaining smaller shareholders could get organised, then they could certainly put a shot across the bows of those currently in power.

Was thinking exactly the same as I stomped home yesterday. The excuses for our poor performances must be reducing as every week passes. We're shi77t in front of 14,000 and we're shyiyt in front of double that. But lo and behold within hours of that embarrassing display, there were people on here having another pop at the fans, this time for giving the underperforming players a bit of a shot across their bows. Stop blaming the supporters!!!!
-
You do not need a buy out to find and install a replacement CEO and/or Chairman. There may not be a will to replace Lowe in either of those positions, but that is not the same as saying there are no alternativies out there. Just as managers can be replaced, so can football executives.
-
Have no problem with the general concept of living within our means, but as you also point out, the execution of that general principle has been poor. As for what this is down to, well my main belief is that it is mainly down to the coaching set up, as in addition to preparing the team and deciding what formation to play, they also overseen who we have brought in. This is where I start to disagree with you as although Pearson would have had to operate within the same financial restraints, considering we have brought in something like 12 new players, there is no way you can say he would have brought in all of the same players. I also think that Pearson would have gone for more of a mix of youth and experience in his acquisitions. In which case, the solution has to involve Lowe being removed from his position as CEO and Chairman. He has nailed his colours to this "Revolutionary Coaching Set Up", and so when Jan leaves, then Lowe will have to leave with him. The problem is not caused by the lack of finance, more that the lack of money is a constraint within which we (and many other clubs) have to work. And in no way can this be called a solution, as a solution would suggest that it has solved the problem. A strategy maybe, but in no way a solution!!!
-
Being the pedant I am, Pearson actually improved the points haul by 130%!!!!!! His haul of 16 points in 13 games wasn't an outstanding achievement, but when put in perspective of what he inherited and what direction we were heading, it was a very good return.
