He will soon be at the stage where he can really no longer be called a youngster. He's made almost 60 league appearances and another 20 as a substitute since his Notts County debut over 4 years ago. He's had decent spells when out on loan and this season he has been almost ever present. I would argue he has been given his chance this season, but IMHO he has not proved himself. He still might turn it around, but I just can't help but think that if you're that good, then you should be doing it by the time you're 21 (after all, Shearer left us at the same age).
-
he is 21 actually and made his debut for Notts County over 4 years ago and his debut for us over 3 years ago.

Being a huge egomaniac, I might well do almost all of the above, but I would not be on the pitch 15 minutes before fccukcing kick off. There's a time and a place for sticking your nose in, but that's not one of them. As Pearson said in a forum once, the time just before kick off on and off the pitch is the most crucial time with regards preparing your players for the game ahead.

And you can't even blame the twaat who writes the usual rubbish on the OS as that came straight from Jan's mouth. Please spare us the references to Total Football, the Dutch way, attacking & exciting football, Cruyff, etc etc etc and just start delivering as I'm beginning to find it all a tiny bit patronising.
-
Leaving him out was a big faux pas, as was omitting Perry earlier in the season). My worries about Jan have not gone away.
-
Please don't be fooled by the recent draws. Plymouth at home was poor, Charlton first half was poor and Sheff Weds was another story of pretty football before falling apart in the second half. We have lost twice as many as we have won, which probably means our wins are more out of the blue!!!! Jan is a big boy and should be able to look after himself. He's also been just as guilty of promising much, yet failing to deliver and if you have look back he has also trotted out the standard managerial rubbish (i.e. the target is six wins from ten, we are aiming for the play offs, we will soon thump someone / we will turn the corner etc etc etc). Ultimately this is a results driven business and IMHO after almost half a season i don't think a point a game anything to be proud of.
-
The story is now on the OS and Surman is included there as one of those named as being motivated, but Rudi isn't. I'm sure on the interview I heard hi say Rudi, but may have missed him saying Surman.

Because when I looked at the squads last season I really did think that we were better than Scunny, Colchester, Leicester, Coventry, Blackpool & Barnsley. As it turned out four of those did finish below us. This season I think Donny and Forest are definitely poorer than us, but am not at all sure we are better than Watford or Charlton, and why I want Barnsley, Blackpool et al to be dragged back down.
-
Nope, this is a results driven business. You get the same number of points for a gritty win as you do for a pretty win, or in our case you get zilch points regardless of whether we play pretty or poor.
-
Well, we have lost 9 out of the 10 games where we have conceded first!!!!!
-
I wasn't saying what if Watford or Charlton improve in the way you are intimating. Instead I was saying that IMHO they are underperforming and could well bounce back from this as their squad is arguably stronger than their league position says (they both also have the parachute payment to play with). Whereas I actually think we have reached our zenith and the current form is about as good as it gets, as I really can't see how we can improve (we may even get weaker as a result of the transfer window and our poor finances). I am looking at the "whole siutation", hence my caveats and rationale to some of my thoughts.

Sorry, but I just don't buy that. Mr Wu is very technically able, but he is not a good footballer. The current lot re flatteringn to deceive, results don't lie.
-
On Radio Hampshire and fair play to the interviewer (I think Cope) as he stuck it to him and didn't pull any punches. Jan seemed very shell shocked (and I've said he always seemed so compsed in the past) and pretty angry with some players.
-
Sounds very ****5ed off and scathing of some players who are not motivated and says that is wrong. Says we have to motivate them and that's not right as they should be doing that themselves. Says the following were motivated - Lloydy, Jack, Chris, Rudi, Paul and Adam but then said the others were not (think I got the names right)!!!!!!! Says we never looked like scoring. Not at all happy.
-
Don't worry, some will soon be on here telling us the football is exciting this season!!!! You never know Iwelumo may even big us up again!!!!!!
-
5 in the league (one of which was a pen and another which was really Lallana's). So 3 in open play then, not good enough:smt102:smt102
-
You just made me smile for the first time all evening!!! thanks
-
But my worry is that I can see Charlton and Watford turning it around. They certainly both have squads that are probably better than their league position says, whereas I think we are not really capable of turning things around and instead will just plod on at something like a point a game. I think Forest and Doncaster will stay there and I just pray that someone like Barnsley or Blackpool will get dragged back in or else we could very well end up 22nd and fccukced.
-
He must set himself some pretty low targets then.
-
Please, please, please can we have no mention of exciting and attacking football. No platitudes about how someone will soon get hammered. No quotes about how this wasn't deserved. No lines about how stylish we look. Tonight was very, very, very poor.
-
you don't get any extra bonus points for pretty football, nor for possession!!!!!! It's goals that count and they've got three of the fccukcers
-
I wonder if Goodman' quote about us reminding him of Doncaster Rovers will make it in to the Interim Accounts ?????? Goal difference down to -13. We need to hold on and not concede anymore!!!!!!!!!!!1
-
22 points after 22 games is abysmal. We're so fcccucking lucky that Doncaster, Forest and Charlton are shi777yt. Now Goodman is saying we remind him of Doncaster, fcccuck me things are bad.
-
Fccccucking terrible. Sorry, but this really is poor.
-
And if Pearson had delivered Jan's current record of a point a game, then we would have been relegated!!!!!! Pearson was no demi-god and was not here long enough to prove one way or the other, but he did what he had to do in very difficult circumstances. And as you say, he did unite this Club in those dark days.
