  1. Torn between a "name" to bring in the crowds and an easy draw so we can go forward. We'll never win this competition and I think these youngsters have never played these number of games before, so I would go for a big payday (either home or away). Therefore Arsenal away.
  2. And as this thread and many other posts have shown, very few people "hate" Lowe and Wilde. Of course many may have issues with their managerial style, their decisions and the way they conduct themselves and their business, but sadly that is something that people like you find hard to understand (some of course may hate those actions - and the outcomes -, but that is different to hating the individual, something which is obviously a bit tough for you to comprehend). It's just easier to think that people hate Lowe and Wilde, and that hate is driven by ruddy cheeks/duck shooting/tax dodging/being a scouser/liking hockey/investing in a hotel/being snobby (delete as applicable). Posts like yours (and the OP) say so much more about you, than any of replies ever could. HTH
  3. And as I said in my first post on this subject in the grand scheme of things it is pretty irrelevant, but at the same time don't you think that given such a picture is/should be fairly irrelevant, that removing it sort of shows how those currently in charge of our Club think about some things?? It just didn't need to be done and it was always going to be seen by some in a negative light. Why open yourselves up to such criticism? Why not just leave it be? People may be critical of the response, but this could so easily have been avoided if it was left where it was, if Lawrie had kept quiet or if it was removed a year or so down the line (for a picture worthy of replacing it). Instead we score an own goal again and just open ourselves up for criticism.
  4. But the boardroom is more than the place where tough decisions are made. It's also the place where guests are entertained, where opposing teams officials are wined & dined as well as being used for a number of other uses (including press conferences etc). It's normal to have your heritage and history on display in these types of areas. Also on the wall of our boardroom is a shirt from the 1976 Cup Final (think it is Channon's) and I'm sure there's a Matt Le Tissier tribute in there as well. Our solitary FA Cup win is the single biggest thing connected to this Club, so if there was a toss up between a present from Donny, or a photo of our most successful manager holding our only trophy, then I don't think it's that difficult a choice (even for those who hate McMenemy). The last time I had a peep, there were small photos of the Directors (e.g. Corbett, Hone & co) so it would seem natural to change those and even have Lowe and Wilde back up, but this change of pictures just smacks of pettiness, ego and posturing. I did wonder about Lawrie's ego being in play here and why he had to go public, but that still doesn't excuse the petty act undertalen by Lowe & co. Strange how you can find Lawrie's actions as being vindictive, yet you gloss over the petty action of removing it in the first place (then again it's par for the course with you isn't it:smt069:smt069).
  5. You're a retarded optimist!!!! (please don't take offence;)). That loss of 5million was after a profit on player trading of something like 10million (12m brought in from player sales offset by player amortisation). Effectively, on normal operations last year we lost close to 15million, and then reduced this by the player sales of Jones, Baird, the balance of Theo and Bale etc. We've definitely saved some money, but can't see us turning around a 15 million deficit!!!!!
  6. Quite frankly, if there was a picture of Lowe, Askham, Woodford or Reader up on the walls for a valid reason (as you say maybe Lowe & others at a stadium opening ceremony) and an incoming board/Chairman took it down, then I would view it in exactly the same light (i.e. petty, cringeworthy and egotistical). The very fact that it is being replaced with a painting of such significance as commemorating our first visit to Doncaster's new ground (FFS) sort of hints that it was more to do with removing it, than having to find a wall for such a spectacular gift from Donny. It just gives us supporters an insight into the petty politics and make up of those temporarily in charge of our Club.
  7. And I'm pretty relieved that we still maintained a 4 point cushion and next week we are at home whilst Charlton are away at Birmingham. But let's not mistake that for being overjoyed and jumping through hoops. Just like last season I didn't get much pleasure from just escaping the drop and whilst others were on the pitch celebrating, I was still in the stands relieved and shaking my head wondering how the fcckuk we got into this position. It's realictic to say that at the moment we are still involved in a relegation battle.
  8. A run like that can't go on forever, it has to be broken at some point. A double over Reading would be my prediction!!!!!!!!!
  9. Well go and have a look at his career goalscoring record and he gets a goal every 2.5 games which is a pretty decent record. On that form he should only have got 16 last season!!!!! How I would love DMG to get 16 goals this season. Two of the three above him in the scoring charts last season were 34 & 30. That legend on financial statements, Iwelumo, who is currently 2nd, is 30, Phillips at 35 is 5th and Beattie is up there again.
  10. The financial argument is totally different to the ability argument, and I don't for one minute think Stern John has all of a sudden become a poor player. 4th highest scorer last season and people are questioning his ability FFS. As for the financial argument, then that may well be a different matter. Pessimists (or they might even be realists;)) might argue that we can't afford him, whilst the optimists might argue that with his goals we'd be winning more games, climbing the table and getting bigger gates. Now that could be an argument that will run and run as there is no way of proving it either way. But what is undeniable is that we need to score more goals.
  11. He signed a two year deal with us and with all due respect he has only just turned 32. You don't go from scoring 20 goals in a struggling side to being a crock of shyyt.
  12. And you've probably answered the question with your last line. John's season never started here, as he was clearly not wanted and he has been playing catch up ever since. You don't become a bad player overnight. He was the 4th leading goalscorer in the league last season, in a team that seriously underperformed.
  13. He's moved mid season and is probably still settling in as he's only been there a month or so. He's started 2 games, and been on the bench 4 times in the 7 games since he went there. If Bristol City have noticed already, then it would appear they've got a very poor scouting network/manager as what a waste to go for a loan player only to write him off a month later:rolleyes: As someone has mentioned, the same Stern John did turn up in June, it's just that the powers that be had changed. John & some other high earners were told in no uncertain terms that all efforts would be made to move them on. John was never in Jan's plans and even Jamie White was getting starts ahead of him earlier in the season. We have one of the worst goal scoring records in this division and that is something that the manager needs to address as curretly either the formation or the personnel are underperforming.
  14. First part of that sentence is good to hear as we must be one of the lowest goalscorers in this league. We need someone in ASAP (or someone back!!!!). The second part though is a bit concerning, because if Jan really thinks that all DMG and Robertson need is one goal and then more will follow, then he has me worried!!!!!
  15. Your last sentence is a key factor for me. For me, Jan tinkered, tweeked and didn't know who to play where early on (even allowing for injuries). Combined with that, I think he persevered for too long with players who weren't performing. Hopefully, he's now found what is his strongest side and sticks with it. One continuing concern for me though is up front and our inability to put the ball in the net. DMG is not the answer.
  16. next week charlton away at Blackpool who are just above us (not sure what result I want, prob home win) watford away at Brum so big ask
  17. i make it we move up a place
  18. holding on to a point and keeping the 4 pt gap
  19. norwich still losing and watford donny and charlton havent closed the gap
  20. blackpool equalise
  21. All 3 teams above us now lsing and coventry have gt Reading away. 3 teams below us are drawing. Could be a good day if we hold out
  22. Coem on the Owls!!!!!
  23. Good, so I think it's same positions as before kick off would settle for that
  24. Blackpool losing so think we go above them on goal difference (or maybe not as GD the same as is goals scored, we have conceded more though)
  25. That's a lot of changes for one substitute!!!!!!! Fingers crossed.
