  1. Could be that unfortunately, or a midweek meeting between Wilcox, Martin and Mowbray in terms of best (only) offer on the table and a need to reach a conclusion on a 29 year old player. Could also come from pressure from JWPs side of course. Only those very close will know. At the end of last season when Sport Republic issued the appeasement about ‘taking responsibility’ and being ‘committed to Southampton’ I pointed out that should they get us promoted it only restores us to where we were when they took over, no fanfare or thanks required from the fanbase at that point. Restoration not ressurection. Outwardly they have proved nothing so far apart from their ineptitude and stubbornness. The hope is that this has been addressed with Wilcox but the proof in the pudding has still to materialise. It was always going to be painful losing our few stars, but its more about incomings, this window is crucial and so is January if SR are committed and the club are serious. There is no need to attempt be clever, the model is already there, and was used successfully at this club last time we hit rock bottom. You buy a core of players from clubs around you and above you and blend this with your best proven youngsters. You don’t gamble or game in this league. I would expect six starters arriving in this window and so far - front to back - we have one, so lots to do. Last season we were putting out a team with no spine, bereft of character or care. The Sheff Wed win was welcome but Gillingham bloody horrific, so in two games something like five shots on target and four goals against. I like Martin and I like Wilcox but they need to be ruthless and demanding from this point.
  2. I think we have blinked as clearly need to get on with our own business now. Likely cash up front and Downes on loan as part of the deal. Doesn’t look great but those may be the drivers.
  3. At West Ham it would likely be Thrush or Chlamydia.
  4. It will be Goztepe!
  5. Christ yes, all for that!
  6. At last some positive transfer news 😂
  7. Agree, good point. Think he could well be an ‘Alan McLoughlin’ for them.
  8. This makes good commercial sense. Raise it at the upcoming fans forum. Charlie Boss will be all over it, like a boss.
  9. I think he’d be good in the middle of a field - preferably on Salisbury Plain!
  10. Bernard?
  11. We have pots of cash, and could do what Leiberr and Cortese did with their extended version of the Magnificent Seven in L1. At least now we get to see if Jason Wilcox is Bolton’s answer to Henry Kissinger or Eddie Edwards. If he’s worse than the artist formerly known as Rasmus we will likely be losing to Gillingham in the league in a years time having gone from seaside farce to Greek tragedy. Interesting era to support SFC chaps, it was ever thus. Hope Prowsey gets what he wants from the move, but I can’t stand West Fucking Ham!
  12. Apart from the CoT who have had three months. LLSS 👊
  13. Wish the lad well, been a great servant to us, but sincerely wish he wasn’t going to Dildo FC - shithouse club. When Moyes is sacked it’s going to get rather interesting in that fickle boardroom and stadium rather quickly. They’ll probably give the job to Nathan Jones. Perhaps when we pass them we can buy him back for half price.
  14. I’m middle way - it is a tin pot competition and I would love Saints to be in it 😀
  15. Jarring to see GB frozen to his line against Sheffield Wednesday, which in his case seems to be about lack of craft and physicality. This will have been noticed by opposition and frequently targeted unless its addressed. I hope we are at least considering Schmeichel as competition and mentor. We have the new set piece coach of course, but so desperately need to strengthen in terms of height and strength right through the spine.
  16. and absolutely typical for him.
  17. In Martin’s early interviews he stated that it would take time for the squad to adapt to his tactics and that we’d likely lose key players right up until the close of the window, that there would be blips. Early mitigation of course but right to say it. Last night was an early blip but perhaps a blessing in that it came in a cup competition when we put out a side of mainly ‘premier league’ players against a division four side. Whatever you think of that line up it should have been able to achieve a result. Instead, for those of us who have been watching these players much longer than Martin they reverted to type, given a chance they blew it. With the summer window open for a long time yet you would hope that our revolving door would be increasing its rpm after that shitshow. The main positives for me, are getting this out of the way, and the individual chancers into the light now, along with Martin’s post match interview. In the interview he was honest in a way we haven’t seen since Koeman, genuinely angry and calling out the sub-standard players. Dismayed at the performance but frank and now aware that the fringe personnel aren’t up to the job. Wait and see the subs bench against Norwich.
  18. If the board are serious about promotion, they take responsibility, including the debacle of the Ankersen window, and clear any way they can - loans, cut-price deals and frees for the worst. We have a contingent of very poor senior pros that seem to be undermining rather improving the squad.
  19. Championship side with any midfield quality exiting, so a case of who we can afford and who is willing to come. Preference after our last experience in this league is round pegs in round holes. Been saying all summer we need a new spine front to back, and that includes a Romeu type central midfielder, don’t think that’s Charles this season however hard the board would like it to be.
  20. Not on his own.
  21. To be successful in this league the way RM wants to play you have to field better technical players than the opposition. Seems like a very tall order at present. I think Grimes is a good signing of the type we need, I’d shelve the YTS if we are serious this season.
  22. Martin and Wilcox need to see this game as an enema. The chance to clear a long term build up of impacted shit.
  23. Lyanco is the out of date WKD samba special edition.
  24. Agree. There should be enough here to get a result if they are up for it. Still lots of players Martin will want to see commit in a competitive match.
