  1. The Impossible Dream also springs to mind
  2. Like the one sported by Jimmy Adams and some guy taking part in the Great North Run. WTF are they supposed to signify? They make the wearer look as if he's got some horrible skin complaint.
  3. Last time I looked - yes! Thanks for congrats
  4. Like posting on here instead of working, you mean? I wonder if some of the increase is in part-time jobs instead of full time ones? And/or that people who have lost their full time jobs are doing two (or more) part-time ones instead - a sort of double accounting? I think it's quite disturbing that women seem to be bearing the bulk of unemployment, along with young people, and that the number of people unemployed for more than a year is the highest it's been for 17 years.
  5. You're right of course. Because the last British Grand Slam champion was born in South Africa - Virginia Wade. As predicted, I shouldn't have stayed up to watch Murray because no sooner had I got to sleep than I was woken up as my daughter's second baby was on its way! Delighted to say that their daughter arrived at 2 this morning (she was only actually in labour for about 4 hours) and everything's totally amazeballs, as they say. Proud Nana here
  6. Doone it!
  7. And he.s broken him again!
  8. And he breaks him to go 3-0 up!
  9. I have never seen such amazing, brutal tennis as that last point. Sensational - no-one deserves to lose this match!
  10. How in heaven's name do they keep up this level of intensity? I'm loving Boris' commentary - he's that rare beast, a funny German
  11. Oh!
  12. First set to Murray!
  13. I can see a late night in store for me. Sod's Law dictates that my daughter will go into labour for her second child tonight and I'll have to race over in the middle of the match!
  14. Nice little extra earner for Trev then
  15. No females on your list Jamie? Ennis Sarah Storey Mo Farrah would be my choices
  16. Although, according to the BBC article, Birch doesn't think it'll fly: Last month former Watford owner Laurence Bassini also registered his interest in Portsmouth. However, the advanced nature of the current talks with Chainrai and the PST, as well as the urgency with which a deal needs to be completed, meant Bassini was not considered a serious option at this stage. It is thought that the same would apply to the Middle East consortium interested in Pompey. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19543395
  17. [h=4]bluelagoon[/h] 6:04 PM on 09/09/2012 This is a bit of mischief. "It has been reported", as the News unfortunately puts it, but doesn't mention the personal source, which is Anil Bhoyrul (see his various tweets today). The magazine piece is at http://www.arabianbusiness.com/mideast-investors-launch-20m-bid-for-portsmouth-472349.html - Anil Bhoyrul works for it. Who is Anil Bhoyrul? The well-known confidante of and spokesman for ... Sulaiman Al Fahim (remember him? Remember his "reporting on Al Fahim?) - Bhoyrul left Britain and went to Dubai after - well, look it up on the BBC News Channel, 20 January 2006. It is truly amazing that the News can run this as a serious story, without telling us the full background as to where it comes from or asking what the purpose is of spreading this story now.
  18. Remember this from a previous page? Surely not
  19. Maybe Phil has set up a phoney consortium
  20. But will the cheats have to pick up the medical bill?
  21. And they can't replace the Hungarian who just got injured apparently - shame
  22. Pleasing to see that the new Conservative Party co-chairman is so adept at selective editing: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2200536/Tory-chairman-Grant-Shapps-removes-exam-results-political-gaffes-Wikipedia-page.html?ito=feeds-newsxml http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2012/sep/07/google-blacklists-websites-grant-shapps-family?newsfeed=true
  23. I'd forgotten I made that wager but I'm using the defence suggested by JWW
  24. It won't be anything to do with the city. It is within the borough of Eastleigh.
  25. He won a second gold tonight. I was hearing on Radio 5 Live that he plans to start to compete in Indie 500 - the experts reckon they'll be able to adapt a car for him. A truly remarkable man.
