  1. This maybe should be on the Muppet thread, but jeez does my blood boil when I hear this common (mis)use of marquee. It should be MARQUE FFS!
  2. LOL reminds me of my first ever ski trip when the instructor kept talking about my 'welly' ski. I eventually realised he was talking about the 'valley' (i.e. downhill) ski!
  3. Overuse of 'legacy' too
  4. Just been listening to an Australian commentator on the news. Why do Australians have to preface EVERY sentence with 'Look......'?
  5. I love all (proper) sport so I'm very much looking forward to the next fortnight and, naturally given my background, I'm very excited about the spectacle that will unfold tonight. From the few clips aired so far, I can see there's lots of dance so I'm one very happy bunny.
  6. This is a thought-provoking article I think http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012/jul/27/london-2012-time-to-find-out-who-we-are
  7. Aaaggghhhhh don't get me started! I loathe the very common use of 'going forward' - why not just say 'in the future'? And people who start an answer to a question such as 'why is such and such happening' with 'So.........' instead of 'because'. And finally - and many commentators do this when describing something that's already happened - 'He's passing cross field......' instead of 'he delivered a cross field pass'. Don't use the current tense when it's already happened!
  8. Are you enjoying your conversation with yourself?
  9. Indeed - and construction output is down 5.2%! We should do what we did in the 30s (apparently) and build our way out. There's a shortage of housing and building housing not only gives employment to construction workers but has a significant knock-on effect in so many other areas.
  10. My son used to fly to Europe very regularly and said a real scary moment for him was he visited 4 countries in 3 days and woke up one morning not knowing which country he was in!
  11. One of my daughters had one of these for her wedding (a cream one) but she hired it from someone in Buckinghamshire. It looked very cool.
  12. I think you may have mentioned this once or twice before.
  13. I pay my hairdresser (who comes to my house - doesn't work for a salon) in cash because I can't be arsed to have a cheque book. Also, it costs her to bank cheques. It's up to her to declare her income. But I would never trade cash in order to avoid paying VAT; that would be cutting my nose off to spite my face. I only trade cash for discount in shops.
  14. C'mon guys and gals - the 'worth saving' is leading by 60 to 40. Can't be 'avin' that!
  15. Great result! 10 out of 10 for stickability. I reckon you should hang in there for payment for your time.
  16. A number of the private healthcare providers have MPs on their boards / are shareholders.

  18. You mean this? [h=1]Server Error in '/' Application.[/h][h=1][/h] [h=2] A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. 19. There must be a wage bill soon
  20. Strange - I've just looked at the official site and that informstion is still there
  21. You mean Gideon Part-timer?
  22. S'OK! These public spirited souls have got a few pennies to spare http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-18944097
  23. Has this been posted already? Can't see it anywhere http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/football-league/bel-haim-a-symbol-of-pompeys-fall-7964168.html
