  1. Hey - great idea!
  2. If they're to cut down on swimming events then you could argue that they should also cut down on 'running' events
  3. 'There are issues around.......' No -'there are issues'. And if it isn't bad enough when people answer a 'How are you?' with 'good', it's even worse when they say 'good, good'.
  4. It's all I would have expected
  5. Dunno - I'm watching the game, not the faces (or anything else).
  6. One of the Dutch girls (accidentally) heftily swiped the side of her head with her stick. Her very blonde hair went very red

  8. Hey you're smart I can't find any case law, but common sense tells me that they would incorporate the club as a plc or at least a limited company in order that they can't be held personally liable for any dereliction of fiduciary duty or, indeed, insolvency / liquidation.
  9. Not if it's a PLC I don't think
  10. And I'm sure I speak for the entire forum when I say that it's a shame your spelling is no better than your wit.
  11. Nah - not half as intellectually stimulating as this forum.
  12. What on earth is the boy going to do now? I mean, he doesn't really have a life outside TSW , does he? (and before we start on pots and kettles, I have an excuse - I'm retired )
  13. Oh I say! :D
  14. We looked into this. We have BT Broadband and it's absolutely fine but when we enquired about BT vision, we were told we'd need a bloody huge mast on the side of the house to get catch-up and movies on demand. Did you have to have a special mast, Dune?
  15. Thanks for the thought but I prefer my own racing bike. Nice idea though. No doubt you could find work there too - be one of the blokes propping up the competitors. Although, on second thoughts, maybe not as the riders leaning on the support have to lean to the left.
  16. Good gracious! So that's G4S, A4E - two companies failing in one way or another to carry out work previously done by the public sector! And this government is, apparently, planning to sell off our Blood Plasma services to a private contractor, along with other parts of the NHS. http://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/save-our-blood-tranfusion-service This fills me with confidence - not
  17. That's what the 'conversion rate to 90%' means, isn't it?
  18. Clare Balding has just said it takes 7 years to train a horse! I don't understand how the scoring works at all, but I just love to see the ballet, as you say.
  19. I just love the dressage - amazing stuff!
  20. No more do I, and I hope that came across in what I said earlier. However, and I think this might be of some significance, athletic events are more weight-bearing. It's common knowledge that swimming is one of the best forms of exercise because it's NOT weight-bearing. I think all athletes will compete if they can because of the sheer joy and experience of taking part in an Olympics. If you managed to hear Oduwo just now, you'll know that he's not up himself at all - far from it.
  21. Just a thought, and in no way minimising the astounding athleticism of any of our competitors, but maybe those three disciplines put less strain on the body?
  22. Of course, that's not what it's about. Here's what it's all about in reality http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2012/aug/06/unpaid-work-scheme-benefits-rebate
  23. I fully expect Dune's pigeon to mirror his politics - veering only to the right and therefore going round in circles.
  24. The Aussies were bigging themselves up before the Olympics started, saying they were going to beat us in the medal table. Currently they are in 16th place with 2 golds
  25. Surely this has to be balanced by the 'trickle up' effect? Those not getting pay rises / having to pay more for less / being made redundant not being able to afford to have a mechanic service the car as often as before?
