All Western Governments want (and need) is for this to be contained with the current borders. Everything else is just playing to the gallery, like 'call me Dave' and his 'sustainable cease fire' comment. As said, many of the major players in the world and ME would probably prefer organisations like Hamas (and their ilk) to be gone/severely degraded.
