I'd not mind someone at the club who could set standards, and have the drive. that would not only get us back up, but make us stay and push on. With the model of making it clear we're a stepping stone, rahter than a destination, that might take longer or need to get players in who don;t just look to the future, not reason why it can't be done. Getting that person, without them being a world class bellend seems to be a harder thing to achieve though.

I'd not be surprised to see him do very well at an interview, with his data analytics, porjects, focus on yout development, and defensive press. Some interview clips and the game where premier league players cheered that he wasn't Nathan. How it goes form there is anyone's guess. That's not jsut to do with him, but every club has so many variables. He was consistent here, so it's a case of being given enough time for those tactics to work, and hope he has the squad for it. He could do well, vanish into obscurity or bounce around a few clubs across a number of leagues. Time will tell.

Still with us on our Bring Back Mick Channon campaign though? ๐ I get that there's always a bit of rose tintedness to these things, but ... well, no.

"As part of the agreement, Southamptonโs menโs and womenโs training uniforms will feature EcoWatt branding. As the Saints strive to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030," Our relegation is but the first step in getting us to those more energy efficient district leagues. ๐

That one crossed my mind. But if the fee is known, then other clubs may well feel that they can get other players more cheaply, and talks stall when we adopt our former stance. It's not likely to please any of us either to see the first player out the door for a significantly lower amount. But then, I don't know how much SR have to recoup in the summer to offset the relegation or if we have more leeway with our owner's deeper pockets. If we only get Tottenham style bids for our players who have time to run on their contracts, do they have to go? Or can we just get as much as we can for the load of others who are nearly out of contract or shown not to be worth keeping. Spin plates, spin.. ๐

Absolutely. But tough to be pushing those premium players, we expect to go to big clubs, while at the same time holding out for the biggest possible fee. ๐ Welome to SR's Football Auction: accepting bids for premium players - to end of June; Want aways - to mid July; Squad players -end of July. Lunatic final offers up to a week before window SLAMS shut only. If only everything were nice and organised. The future's more likely to be... Rasmus: I know fans will be disapointed that our smug predictions of getting a striker in, have not materialised, while we've also moved on Che. But we're sure the random 11 remaining squad members will fit into our their new positions along with the 12 promoted under 18s and do their very best for the new manager. Whoever that happnes to be and whenever they happen to arrive. ๐

Larger deals may take more time to put together, or bigger clubs first few choices don't work out. Just our luck we get big offers very late on for the likes of ABK and Salisu and we've already sold Lyanco and Stephens, leaving us scrambling around for replacements ourselves. ๐ Of course we don;t have to agree to those late offers, but we probably would. So, there are lots of plates spinning, and the club have a duty to give the new manager every chance. It may be that we have to put bids for Lyanco on the back burner, until we're sure if he's going to be needed or not. If we agree to every deal coming in, we could end up with gaps in there (which would come as no shock to any of us) at the end of the window.

"My priority is to get to a place where I feel that the club believes in me straight away and where I can be allowed to develop a project that can be taken to a new level. I want a place that trusts my plans right away. There is an ambition to deliver results, but it is also about time when you want to establish yourself at a new level.โ He does say "club" when talking about not being believed. Does that refer to us chatting to Marsch or others? Does he think he should have got in after Ralph left? He was part of putting the plans in place with Ralph. I imagine there being tension with Jones, but wonder how he feels he wasn't supported. Apart from SR's incompetence in putting a squad together just like his predecessors. His wanting time rather than results actually matches SR's guff. While both are out there working on projects to take things to new levels, actual competitive people will be actually winning games to achieve just that. Even if it failed, his profile is a lot higher having got the job with us. A job he'd not have got had SR not been clueless and desperate. I'm sure he can tell other clubs good reasons for it going wrong, that aren't his fault. The quote is already well down that road. And the showreel of consistent press interviews will look good, even as they defied reality at the time. Oh, so he is coming back after all then? ๐

I'd have thought we'd be parting with ABK and Salisu before Lyanco. Very possibly Bednarek and Stephens (to B'Mouth) too. They're no way of knowing when offers are going to come in for anyone, but I was seeing him getting matches next season. If he's keen to leave, and the offer suits us then fine. But if he'd like to stay, I'd rather him than a few others who clearly don't.

They should have just left the spokesperson outside, to see if that made it a bit clearer.

The Nicola Sturgeon Appreciation Thread
Holmes_and_Watson replied to Guided Missile's topic in The Lounge
Not a good weekend for glorious former leaders. Trump indicted, Johnson quits before he's pushed, and Sturgeon now arrested https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-65871857 Sadly there are many questions regarding the investigation, the timescales (this was raised 3 odd years ago now) and the closeness of the police, lord advocate, attorney general to the ruling party. So, despite this step, things these people consider to be inconveniences, like truth and justice, may mean we never know the truth and they may never get what they deserve. -
Martin gets to pick from 3 ultrasound scans, for each position, who SR are sure will bring in massive sell on profits in the future. ๐
