  1. Come on Alps its not like you to hold back, tell us what you really think of him ;-)
  2. Maybe there will be two boxes next to each other: Ex Diretory/Directory and EX EX directory - Lowe and Co in one, and Crouch and co next door - might be a little tense though? ;-)
  3. The reason he does not have the universal appeal that his legacy SHOULD command based on his footballing successes with saints is sadly because he did get involved in the whole politicking ever since he left the club. His opinions ARE valid and he has the right to express them, but by taking his line and speaking very publically through the media, he entered the 'game' and therefore those who maybe did not agree with his opinion naturally became suspicious of him. This does not in anyway belittle his history or achivements but for some its bound to have dented his credibilty as an elder statesmen of the game - Ted never got involved in all that political stuff publically, even if personally he may not have agreed with the way things were being run during his last years (that is speculation, as i dont know his thoughts on the Lowe years) - thats I think what some have an issue with. The problem then is that those who are critical of some of Lawries recent comments and stances, are themselves criticised for not appreciating all he has done for it...which is not the case... but those achievements do not mean you have to agree with everything he stands for now or believe everything he says as gospel... he has been known to use some of the same hyperbolic rhetoric that has become urban myth without any foundation - the highly emotive 'where has all the money gone' being one of them... If that is a question he really wanted the answer to, he only needed to read the annual audited accounts - possibly a better source of a straight answer than asking it rhetorically in radio and Echo land... once you enter that game, you have to accept that not all will blindly follow your thoughts just because you were our greatest ever manager and brought about our greatest successes.
  4. I can understand those who are still a little hesitant and waiting before wholeheartedly endorsing the new regime... I did exactly teh same when Wilde first tunred up... the difference though for me now is that is a COMPLETELY NEW set up, no baggage and no pished off shareholders sat on the outside ready to cause trouble and plot because they have been unceremoniously dumped. Of course what we have heard so far is only words from Herr Liebherr, but they are words that ae far from hollow because they echo the way he has built and devloped his industrial business - steady growth, graft and commitment without stupid risks or 'looking for a quick buck' - long term planning and a strategy build on considered thought rather than knee -jerk reaction to appease fans - I think ML knows that a big name (who would have been expensive) may have generated a few extra ST sales, but the crowds will only return long term with success on teh pitch who ever is in charge. We are bound to have set backs and mistakes are bound to be made along teh way and only time and results will determine whether Purdue was the right choice, but thats football and sport in general and part of the reason why its so compelling (and frustrating) for fans - there are simpy no guarrantees. Mr Liebherr, I like your style ;-)
  5. not sure keeping everyone happy is possible, there will always be someone who will find offence ... or misery ...or something negative... ;-)
  6. Whatever UP, I just wonder had someone else suggested this whether you would be so...whats the word... ? maybe I'm just being paranoid... If you want to turn a simple suggestion into something else, go ahead, but if you are suggesting the REASON for it was to look good as oppose that being a by-product of it then thats rather misguided - the fact I said it would show a bit of class was not the reason for suggesting it, which I suspect you know...
  7. ;-) LOL - just left him short of approx 2.5 bill do you think he'll notice? '
  8. Seems to be handling sainst as he would any other part of his business and thats led to a 2.5 million fortune so I have to say my trust is 100%! Great start, Great stuff
  9. Look its no different from being proud when our club does its charitable bit - supporting MS with Danny etc, its not a 'need' or 'issue' (as you insult) but a very simple thing that demonstrates that footie fans .... oh feck it whats the point As for UPs 'Dianaesque' comment.... This in not some public outpouring of grief for someone we dont know, just a 30 second reminder from a bunch of scroats that football fans can call you a **** one minute yet can transcend above that on the things that really matter and show some fecking support - hardly a major issue is it?
  10. thing is you cant blame the players, they just get a mike stuck in their faces and have to give the positive line whatever - its the journos asking these daft questions... Steve the thing about playing for places though only works for players who actually want to play v happy to sit on backsides and take the money... I hope Rasiak is committed because if he is, he will get a hatful (or should).. Lallana just needs to get fit.
  11. Thats a no then? ;-)
  12. Nail on head - its only really the very top managers that seem able to achieve at all clubs - and even some of them dont manage it - combination of factors - IMHO WGS took over a pretty good squad that just gelled and peaked at teh right time - take Beatties 23 prem goals that season, and the pairing of Claus and Killer with Bridge and Mazzer - all just seemed to work out - and which of those did WGS bring in? I think with Charlton, for Pardue it just never worked out - no different from WGS at Coventry so lets hope he can do teh business and uncover a few few hidden gems - not going to be easy, but It about tiem a manager was given a decent proper contract as we have now... gives confidence and stability, now just got to deliver - the challenge for him should be that after 3 yaers we should be challenging for Prem promotion - a tough objective but achieveable.
  13. It was as they say just a thought, but like so much seems to get blown out of all proportion... and what was all that boll ox about the Army? see what I mean...
  14. ? WTF ? missing the point really....
  15. To all those you rightly point out he nothing do to with us, etc....that is kind of teh whole point... its about showing we are not just an insular bunch of inward looking fans, but respect the wider football family - we have had our gair share of **** lately as a club, and have just about come out of the otherside following a huge dose of luck - but we should not forget there are those less fortunate in the game than us we more serious stuff to deal with...
  16. Strange, was not immediately overwhelmed, but when you think about it, for D1 and -10 points its a bloody good appointment - almost a bit of a coup. PS. Re Strachan velocity joke.. he mase a bit of a basic scientific error, as velocity can be low/slow as well as high/quick... ;-)
  17. Feck... what did I start? Jeez it was just a thought about showing us as not a bad bunch of fans who can see beyond the ends of our own noses and acknowledge that maybe we can take 30 seconds to share a bit of our luck around... Suggest this is locked....
  18. Surely WGSS or SOWGS or WGavS?
  19. They are not suddenly alright, but a be honest we would never have 'hated him' if he had been banging them in for us - taken a few of teh opposition out wearing a Saints shirt... Should have known this would have degenerated as a thread... just thought that when alls said and done we are Lucky - lucy to have a club, lucky to have our health, lucky to be sitting in the sun on Saturday knowing life and the futures good... Taking 30 seconds to just let someone know who is well known in the game that we appreciate our own good fortune, but can still reecognise that there are more important things in life than kicking a ball around, was just a thought that it might just show we are decent fans with a bit of class and maybe give JH a bit of a boost. As to the the army debate, please thats for another thread. This is about football and players, not the politics and tragedies of armed conflict..please.
  20. Oh well... Thought we woudl show our class by recognising that there are challenges and issues more important than football especially as we will rightly eb celebrating our clubs good fortune in surviving...
  21. This is a footballer and we will be watching football - so cant see the objection really?
  22. True - but we are at a football match and this is a footballer hense the link - and we have been kinda lucky lately, might get us some credit with the foottie gods if spread a bit of that around... and its just a decent thing to do IMHO.
  23. True he resigned from the Leibherr board to focus on Mali, but he is still in effect part owner of the Liebherr group so you could sy they are still partly his machines - dont you just love a good crane thread?
