Well, they're all calling for Guy's head now... http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/guy-understands-fans-frustrations-1-5704461#comments-area It's quite hilarious. They seem to think they will sack Guy and get someone like Warnock in his place.

Just usual tittle tattle. People making up crap for money and to get a reaction.

Some new organisation has popped up out of the woodwork - it looks like the Sellar Property Group have established a 2 foot wide ransom strip across an access to Fratton Park and blocked it with a closed gate. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/gate-remains-closed-to-fans-at-fratton-park-1-5700705 It makes you wonder who is involved with Sellar and what is the motive?

They say in Formula 1 80% is down to the performance of the car and 20% down to the skill of the driver. Does the same apply to the system introduced by MP and the saints players?

Agree with this. Will have some pleasure watching them go out tomorrow night.

Lol, apparently Champagne Iain lost the plot, went mental publically and buggered off early too! Is he starting to realise things we know?

Can't wait for the latest Neil Allen spin...

Sounds to me like they are hastily trying to sort out the loose ends (or maybe more) of payments due and are holding back on the FOI response until they think they have their ducks in a row. Perhaps a few calls chasing payment have been made to the PST!

Not sure you can remove what is public domain on the net successfully. Loads of cache sites will hold it if people want to go looking. -
Good real exercise for the crew. They spend thousands anyway keeping ships in port or floating around on ambassadorial jaunts.

An interesting titbit overheard by a Pompey fan this morning when in the Jacuzzi with some of the Pompey players this morning at Port Solent: http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/errors-ruin-craddock-s-return-to-pompey-side-1-5677013 Hi I'm new to this facility, so want to make what I have to say constructive towards the team I've supported for over 50 years. Season ticket holder, retired, Pompey through and through Today I was at Lloyds Gym in Port Solent, and after my work out spent a little time in the jacuzzi. Also there were 5 Pompey players all deleberating about the shocking performance. To a man they all agreed they were poor, but were blaming oneanother for mistakes. They were saying they thought they new where things were going wrong, but did not discuss with Whittingham because fear of being dropped, or told to shut up, also waste of time talking to club captain to confirm their thoughts to manger as he keeps very much to his self. This upsets me more then the 3-0 defeat, can I suggest the Manager and training staff get together and listen to what app players have to say all ideas and thoughts assist togetherness, I want my players to be able to hold up their heads and say we gave our all, and discussed where it went wrong so could be sorted next time, no disgrace in loosing but moral of players is key with ALL players, Manager, training staff together and united. Take this as ive meant it as constructive comment Rod Trouble at the inn I'd suggest.

Looks unanimous.

I may have mentioned this before but I was at an "RN wedding" about 18 months ago and spent quite some time chatting with the then Commander of HMS Tyne. He told me an interesting tale about fisheries patrol. Basically the RN divides it into east and west patrol areas (roughly North Sea and Irish Sea). Tyne had just been patrolling the west area and had been alerted to a Spanish fishing vessel which had a known past of potentially flouting quotas and set full steam to intercept it. As they approached they could see the Spanish fishermen chucking crates of fish into the sea and it was obvious that they had a load of illegal catches. By the time they boarded the vessel it had all gone and nothing could be done to prove it and impound the trawler. Apparently this is commonplace and the port authorities in certain Spanish ports look the other way as illegal catches are brought ashore.
-
If you look at where the RN might have to defend or attack with capital ships, the possible current and near future hostile nations probably don't have anything capable of causing serious damage. The MoD has one destroyer/frigate on rotation in the Falklands with perhaps another attack sub within a few days at all times. Plus 4 Typhoons/Tornados on standby always at Port Stanley. That's deemed to be more than enough to dissuade Argentina of trying anything as their naval and air equipment is pretty much no better than in 1982.
-
But are the new OPVs to replace the existing River class? I don't know the answer to that but it would seem that OPVs are needed more than ever for fisheries protection and anti-smuggling duties. It also needs to be recognised that while the RN has far fewer destroyers and frigates than before they are way more capable. I recall reading something that said a Type 45 can fulfill the combat role of four Type 42s in a "localised" scenario. So better tech means fewer ships.

If there are no ships to be built what else can be done? You can't keep empty yards open employing men.

I'm in the house building sector too with Bellway and Telford Homes. All looks good to me with faint worry about US Fed tapering but that's likley to affect most investment sectors for a while.

Job centres attempts to encourage folk to go back to work fails

As part of a power station construction I am involved with, it has been decided to recruit some of the local young guys who have no quals as part of helping in the local community etc. It is quite a rough area and you might think that it is an opportunity to some to gain some useful skills that will set them up longer term. Two started last week. One ****ed off at lunchtime on the first day and the other jacked it in before the week was up!
