  1. I think Connolly's Radio Solent interview after the previous game showed there are tensions between him and Barker. He said he didn't want to play behind the forwards but was available for selection and had been for some time. Plus he has been taken off the coaching staff by Barker.
  2. Interesting PDF if you GooglePortsmouth Community FC Financial Report that I had not seen before.
  3. The PST element was reduced from 57% to 52% recently following an injection of cash from their Presidents to cover work need at Fratton Park. The Alfie story and others like it indicate that the PST is doing a last push before the April cut off date to get more £1,000 pledges to bolster the PST element. Which is futile as they have exhausted the coffers of the fans while unbudgeted costs continue to rack up. I think it's relevant that the propaganda being put out and repeated by Factless Allen and co has altered the line in recent weeks from "community owned club" to "fan owned club". The News did a big piece about the HNW presidents a few days ago detailing who they are and how they are all fans of the club. Until then most of those 12 individuals had preferred to keep a low profile. Possibly a PR precursor to the HNWs taking a majority share in order to gain additional share ownership as they are forced to inject more funds into the club.
  4. The economic news today is good so it looks as though most of us may benefit over the coming months. Bizarrely I lost money today because of the news though as my Bellway shares took a hit. Clearly based on the possibility that the Bank of England may increase interest rates sooner than expected which may affect the ability of people to get mortgages. I think it's a short term market reaction and the longer term wider benefits will prevail overall and recover my immediate losses.
  5. My girl friend sat down on the couch next to me as I was flipping the channels. She asked,'What's on TV?' I said, 'Dust.' And then the fight started…
  6. Blaargh...vomit alert! http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/alfie-8-buys-1-000-pompey-share-1-5821259 Alfie, aged 8, buys £1,000 Pompey share They really are desperate to get extra cash in to prop up the 50% plus Trust holding. If Alfie's parents had any sense they'd have put the £1,000 in a child ISA account and let it sit there for 18 years.
  7. Beat me to it. Richie's just putting an insurance policy in place....
  8. So that's their sixth recruit of the transfer window and they've got rid of one and loaned one out to a non-league club for peanuts. New faces, same old Pompey.
  9. That's not quite the case though. £33m was turned from debt to equity and player purchases probably mean the overall Liebherr investment is closer to £60m. Nevertheless it would be a good profit.
  10. So says MSN. http://sport.uk.msn.com/football/liebherr-makes-saints-pledge
  11. They rely on timing to catch a few unsuspecting people who are about to take receipt of a parcel from Royal Mail/DHL etc or due money from Inland Revenue/Santander/Barclays etc.
  12. The obvious issue is that KL wants to sell up so there will be no continuity until that happens.
  13. So Pompey sign Wes Fogden on an 18-month deal. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-complete-midfielder-capture-1-5811048 He joins Daniel Alfei, Ryan Taylor, Nicky Shorey and Jake Jervis arriving at Fratton Park this month, while Shaun Cooper has been released and John Sullivan loaned to Cambridge. So on the weekly wage bill count I'd reckon: Fogden - £2,000 Alfei - £1,000 as loan contributions Taylor - £1,500 Shorey - £2,000 Jervis - £1,500 Additions - £8,000 Save £1,500 on Cooper and maybe £500 on Sullivan. Net increase of £6,000. That'll be about an extra £150K or so on wages until the end of the season.
  14. I like the point made above that a Thatcher Day would be universally recognised by riots and strikes. These uber right-wing idiots who come up with such ideas in Parliament really ought to be spending their time doing genuine work that helps the nation.
  15. Forgetting Porky Penny it seems Pompey are about to increase the wages again on an ex-Reading defender. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/former-premier-league-midfielder-training-with-blues-1-5803060 They have a fixation with hiring older players from higher divisions who have been released by L1 clubs. Suits me, let them get on with it.
  16. I was at Drax Power Station today - the largest CO2 emitter in the UK and western Europe. Nevertheless it generates about 7% of the UK's electricity and if it was shut now there would be power cuts in the UK. The management at Drax have no doubt that CO2 contributes to global warming / climate change. They have all the expertise that they have hired in. That's why Drax is trying to change.
  17. My 72 year old mum is hassling me to get tickets so that she and I can see the Eagles perform in Manchester later this year. IMO that's one for the team too.
  18. It's disappointing that Guided Missile is so blinded by the stats that he chooses to use. I admire GM for his views on most other subjects. It's telling that the UK government department responsible for these issues is named DECC - the Department for Energy and Climate Change. That isn't just a waffle name, it's recognition that the vast majority of qualified scientists in the UK and abroad accept that man made clime change is occurring. I undertake work on a regular basis for many of the energy generating companies in the UK. Every one of them is agreed with the consensual scientific evidence that carbon emissions generated by electricity production contributes to a global warming effect. DECC and the electricity generators choose not to employ people like James Delingpole for good reasons. They deal with the likely scientific facts rather than the ****** (did I really say that) perpetuated by deniers like Delingpole who lack any objectivity or peer-related scientific knowledge to claim otherwise.
  19. Pompey get behind safe standing bid http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-get-behind-safe-standing-bid-1-5797890 Peter Daykin, the Football Supporter Federation’s Safe Standing Campaign co-ordinator, said: ‘For Portsmouth to back the campaign is brilliant. ‘I have been watching football long enough to remember Portsmouth in every single division. ‘One thing that hasn’t changed is the fantastic support. They are a proper club. ‘It’s great to see the new regime has got on board with this.’ Well, a 10-year old remeber that as well!
  20. Same old nonsense really. A verdict decided on by an impartial jury who had access to all the available evidence. And a group of people with limited understanding and acceptance of the Rule of Law who claim an injustice. It'll calm down after the media has moved on.
  21. I imagine she's very familiar with standing around in dark alleys from the way she looks.
  22. PlayUpPompeyFanJake2011 1:07 PM on 07/01/2014 Cash (£500,000) + player swap (Fogden) + 20% sell on clause with Bournemouth would be a good deal for Pompey. Lolage!!! They might get £75K for Wallace tops as he is out of contract in the summer. Many of the buffoons are also unaware that players sales go straight into the debt kitty rather than for Pompey to pay new players. Being a fan-owned club it'll be interesting to see whether the board divulge whatever small sum they might get for him also. It's so entertaining.
  23. Gove is a zealot so he should not be in his position.
  24. I'm not sure the new management team has been told about the FL restrictions. Might have put them off.
  25. Portsmouth in radical footballing move as they outline plans for a scouting network. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/barker-wants-scouting-system-in-place-1-5787603
