It's not even mind games really. It's just a comment.

PFC123 is ok and I'm glad he's allowed to post on here. He's quite amusing at times. Mero, Mack and Linvoy's were good also but they have disappeared. I don't mind Ho either just for the laughs. At least this site doesn't ban Pompey posters unlike POL which does ban moderate Saints posters.

My Kindle lives on the shelf by the toilet. It's less expensive than potentially dropping the iPhone down the bog and ensures a chapter a day.

I think it would be fantastic to find a hoard of old treasure. But would I be honest enough to declare it all? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-somerset-17480016 Has anyone here ever found anything old and valuable in the ground or even in an attic?

The Saints Foundation has raised £1m for charitable causes over the last 12 months. What do Portsmouth do with charities? http://www.civilsociety.co.uk/fundraising/news/content/11887/southampton_football_foundation_raises_1m

I'm fairly sure that there would be many Portsmouth residents who would object vociferously to their council tax payments going towards a purchase of Fratton Park so I'd expect there to be a big argument before that happens.

Recommendations sought about book keeping/accountancy software
TopGun replied to TopGun's topic in The Lounge
Interesting. Thanks for comments. I shall do a bit of investigation into each. -
The News is reporting this morning that both Varney and Pearce could be on their way this week... Possibly has credence as Pompey have used the News previously to soften the blow of players leaving.

Yes, I'm not going to consider 'Pompeybooks'! -
A question for the SME owners and accountants on here. I've been using an older version of Quickbooks (2006) for time monitoring, book keeping, invoicing and VAT but want to get up to date. Quickbooks has done the job for me pretty well thus far as it saves me loads of hassle by keeping it all in one place but I'm wondering whether others prefer alternative packages and why?

Lol at Hayden Mullins: In the Portsmouth News, Mullins says: "It’s a sad day for me to have to go to another club to help Pompey keep going. All my best wishes go to all the players. It’s been a great time to be at Pompey for the period I’ve been here. I’m gutted to say goodbye really. I’ve got a lot of friends here." On the Reading website, Mullins says: "It's been a long time coming really, I wanted to play for the club being local and it nearly happened last year, but didn't really come about. It's a result I've always looked for and I'm happy to see how well Reading have been doing, I'm glad to be here. I'll try and back the boys up and if I need to fill in anywhere I will. I know the run that the club have been on, everyone knows that in the division, and Reading are the team to stop at the moment." I guess the PR officers at Portsmouth and Reading didn't work together on this one!

This is my understanding. Anyone who attempts to purchase the assets (i.e. Fratton Park) would have to accept that there is a Land Registry hold of £17m over it in place and owed to Chainrai. Although this is the part that TB has been talking about contesting because of the complicated Portpin/CSI relationship. I'm sure the £17m charge exists to someone though.

I bought Thomas Cook shares at 15p in January and sold on Thursday for 28p. Quite pleased with that.

Not really. We haven't scrapped one RN nuke since the first was commissioned in the 1960s. Why? There's nowhere to put the reactor cores. They're all sitting in Devon and Scotland quietly rotting away while the government continues to put its head in the sand.

It seems they might get lucky yet... Matty C is one of the regular posters on the News... Matty C - Friday, March 2, 2012 at 07:30 PM Have it on good authority that a South African diamond mogul is looking to wipe out the debt and pump in 25M straight away. Could be saved after all. Need to make some calls and update later. PUP PTID

But they still can't force King Kanu to retire

Some really crazy comments from Andronikou in the Telegraph also: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/portsmouth/9116030/Portsmouth-may-fold-before-the-end-of-Championship-season-says-administrator-of-cash-strapped-club.html However, a source close to Balram Chainrai, the former Gaydamak business partner to whom Portsmouth defaulted after a previous insolvency, confirmed to Telegraph Sport that his Portpin vehicle is ready to assume control again rather than to see Pompey liquidated. Chainrai claims the club owe him £29 million. The validity of those claims is the subject of a legal challenge but even if the valid debts are reduced he is certain to remain a significant creditor. Andronikou, who works as administrator to the club’s parent, Convers Sports Initiatives, said: “This club has got a better income than most of its competitors. "You can’t say it isn’t sustainable. We control 80 per cent of creditors and so we won’t allow them to trash the club. "We’re trying to protect the club and them.” Utter clusterfick as entirely aligned against Trevor Birch and clearly an attempt to prevent whatever minimal chance PKF has of selling distressed Pompey to another interested party.
-
In David Conn's Guardian article quoting Trevor Birch: "We will make contact with anyone we believe could be a serious bidder for the club," Birch said. "They will need to be prepared to make a major investment, because the wages of the players taken on means the club will lose between £8m and £10m next year. This is what it has come to: Portsmouth could go into liquidation." I would imagine there is complete disarray among the Pompey players about whether to agree to play for free for a while or argue that they are guilt-free because of the contracts signed. Clearly Kanu could do them a favour by retiring but it hasn't happened. Norris only signed for them after a deal was offered that made Ipswich say, "what is that about"... I think there may be some honest gents amongst the players but the disarray will cause them real on field hassle against Middlesboro on Saturday.
-
It's not going to happen. Trevor Birch has made clear that he has exhausted all possibilities of cash advances and the PL and FL have said no, essentially because that gives Pompey an unfair advantage that would be crucified in a court. It is really tick tock time before Birch has to fold the club.

New RFA Tankers To Be Built In South Korea
TopGun replied to View From The Top's topic in The Lounge
Well, it's quite entertaining. -
I agree with this as far as Wenger is concerned. He appears to want to buy young British value but then makes mistakes by buying lots of foreign players who seem to do little for Arsenal. I guess he is always under pressure to deliver results though. Robin van Persie has taken a few years to get right but he is great now. I wonder how much Redknapp pays (and takes) to just buy ready made players... Spurs have to be running a deficit in comparison to Arsenal.

Bombardier have to prove themselves rather than moan about losing out to Siemens. They have, as mentioned, gained a smaller train unit construction contract since losing the Cross Rail contract to Siemens. It keeps Bombardier in lesser work at Derby at any rate for a few years by when there will be new contracts let to replace the desperately old (and potentially unsafe) diesel commuter units known as Pacers that were based on Leyland bus chassis. There are lots of them all over the country on local services and they have to be retired by 2020 on EU safety criteria. Bombardier (a Canadian company, lest not forget) has opportunities in UK rail if it does it right. -

For right or wrong reasons, there's the answer to the OP's question.
