  1. Thanks Wyn for your insights and yes sentence does concern a lot of us. We are going to come across many teams that will park the proverbial bus and we showed this year we have no idea as to how it can be broken down...so we pass sideways and go at walking speed. Hopefully there'll be some new additions with new ideas.
  2. I certainly remember Chaplow, well more his bald head! And Hooiveldt was not a proven failure in the premier league. Yes I'll be going to the usual half a dozen away games next season and in a weird way, already looking forward to it, and of course you support the players on the pitch, but I don't want AA anywhere near the team. He's been given enough chances already.
  3. Although Ankerson & Kraft were removed from Sport Republic Holding Ltd, surely they're closer linked to Dragan than Semmens - so the latter is the first to go. The old school are being removed but would Ankerson leave without Dragan also leaving? I get the impression they come as a pair.
  4. Yes, I was at two of those games and he was still easily the worst player on the pitch. And what happens if we get promoted? Unlike Rickie L who could compete in the premiership, this guy is a proven liability and no manager will change that. He is taking up someone else's space.
  5. And are there any leaders in the squad at present? Quoting S-Clarke: " I look back to 2011 and we had Kelvin, Fonte, Morgan, Hammond, Lambo down the spine. Now that's a spine, experience, leadership, guts and quality." Who have we got today? Yes, i'd like to keep Alcaraz, Sulemana, Tino, Edozie but that's not a leadership spine. My concern is we have 2 months before the next season starts. That's hardly any time to find a completely new spine and get them to gel together, so then it goes back to what SNsun says about evolution or revolution. I can see the club taking the former approach and with our losing mentality, we slip in to mid Championship table mediocrity or worse very quickly. It's a real catch-22. I'd be looking for a striker (perhaps from the lower leagues), a forward thinking midfielder and given the centre backs seem to be imploding (wouldn't be surprised if ABK, Salisu, Bednerek, DCC & Lyanco all leave), another experienced centre back (Jack S. possibly?).
  6. Thanks for this. Interesting read. For me, this is one of the most positive things I've seen or read about our club in recent weeks. The powers that be have been trying things - hiring a psychology coach to make the players more positive worked wonders! - they've just been making the wrong decisions. Perhaps they should listen to some on here who predicted chaos with the summer signings, who predicted NJ would be useless (even I predicted that) and who said one game against Chelsea should not mean giving the job to Selles to save us from relegation. But it seems SR are in for the long term. They're businessmen so at the very least they'll need time to recoup some of their investment. Now is an opportunity to start afresh and have a wholesale clearout of the negative sods that currently play for us. The concern is SR's motivation. It seems they've bought our club as a project and us fans don't matter. Their website looks like its been done by some junior school students. They've pumped hundreds of millions in to the club and even someone as wealthy as Dragan has taken the money from somewhere (probably another company in his empire) and will want it back. At what point do they say enough is enough?
  7. Depends where he's put down his roots but I agree, not quite on MLT's spectrum of outlandishness so would have liked to have seen him at the club in some kind of role.
  8. It was a good game, wasn't it? If NJ laid the foundations for Luton to play like that, under him, how on earth did our players end up playing like they did? Anyway, will be watching tonight for hopefully a similar engaging match...we will be playing one of the teams next season.
  9. Watching this game on TV, we need to move up three gears to be competitive next year. The touch might not be super good but the speed of play from these two sides is refreshing.
  10. Yep, Salisu a much more realistic shout for an early exit - especially after his twitter comments.
  11. Boring v exciting? 😉
  12. Perhaps a sweepstake on the first three out the door? My first three would be Diallo, KWP & ABK (Lavia will be later).
  13. Agree. Alan Ball saved us from relegation after being hired from Exeter. I really liked Hoddle. Both we couldn't keep hold of. And we can't compare PV to Koeman. Koeman had miles more gravitas when he joined us and was an inspired signing. So what that PV was a good player? He's also been a bang average manager. He couldn't get his team to score (sounds familiar?) and yet it took only a week for Woy to sort that team out. Can't see PV masterminding a team rebuild nor any of the other names usually mentioned on the manager merry-go-round. There must be a new Graham Potter out there somewhere.
  14. Comes across as one of the few that genuinely cares. Supported Ings well and he can see a pass. If we find a striker, then he could be a good supporting act - but suspect there'll be a few lower premier league teams sniffing around for him.
  15. He's taking the piss. Just fu*k off, Salisu. Think we should have a sweepstake as to the order they'll be out the door. My bet is this'll be one of the first.
  16. Never been to Plymouth's ground but it is quite a trek. Places like Coventry, Bristol City, Cardiff even Swansea are closer.
  17. RB didn't seem to learn. Was at Stamford Bridge when the players were all back slapping him for masterminding a win against an out of sorts team, but after that his tactics were the same every game even though we were losing every game. It was Ralph-ball without the press which made us sit in our own half with no ideas going forward. That said, surely the players should have had enough nous and experience to know what was wrong and change things. They've come across as a bunch that don't give a f*ck and that's what grates more than anything.
  18. Maybe you have a point. Even players like Jack Stephens and Lemina haven't looked bad at Bournemouth & Wolves. But no manager on this planet could make AA a footballer. Truly depressingly awful and my vote (and that includes thinking of the options Ely & Diallo!)
  19. Exactly - when you see the BBC website describe us as "tame", "muted" and "lethargic", a team supposedly fighting for premiership survival, you know this is total boll**ks. Just hope those in charge really don't believe the crap they're feeding us, because that would be of concern!
  20. Was it Barry Fry at Peterborough who put the whole team up for sale? Maybe it's old fashioned thinking but when you pay someone £1m+ a year, don't you expect them to at least try? This shower gave up over a month ago. I'd like to get rid of practically all of them (Alcaraz, Sulemana excused), but how do you rebuild? Get rid of the lot all at once? Or do you find a new manager, a couple of strikers and an attacking midfielder and keep the others? At least following Southampton isn't boring? This summer and who leaves and who comes in is going to be very interesting.
  21. Maybe a trumpeter signalling the start of the band procession by playing 'The Last Post'
  22. I'd also much prefer Jack. Lyanco is captain calamity. Gets caught out of position, can't hold the line defending free-kicks, not the best headerer, rash.....but you can't help but like him. There's certainly a lot of others I'd like to see the back of first. Plus, Bednerek will probably want out, there's something about DCC that's wrong but can't put my finger on it and with ABK & Salisu scratching the exit door to get out, we should keep him.
  23. Commitment sounds all wrong. Get rid. Want him out early, but how much more will we get than the £11m we paid for him? His stock was high 18 months ago but it must have gone down over the last few months. Reckon HarvSFC;s assessment is spot on with this kid. Too rich too quick.
  24. Watched a couple of games with Smallbone on TV this year and do like his forward intent. Can't be compared to JWP and similar to Tella, he still strikes me as a lightweight who can be easily pushed off the ball, but would certainly want him as an option next year. As for Tella, it's up to us whether he moves on and perhaps that depends on how much Burnley et al value him.
  25. Alcaraz will hopefully stay and I'd like Adams for the Championship but he will have his suitors and probably go. As for AA, this guy is truly useless. Against Lincoln he was the worst player on the pitch and i don't buy in to this thought process that he's good in the premiership. Lose him, keep Alcaraz & Sulemana, maybe Tella and find a striker or two.
