  1. Perhaps a sweepstake on the first three out the door? My first three would be Diallo, KWP & ABK (Lavia will be later).
  2. Agree. Alan Ball saved us from relegation after being hired from Exeter. I really liked Hoddle. Both we couldn't keep hold of. And we can't compare PV to Koeman. Koeman had miles more gravitas when he joined us and was an inspired signing. So what that PV was a good player? He's also been a bang average manager. He couldn't get his team to score (sounds familiar?) and yet it took only a week for Woy to sort that team out. Can't see PV masterminding a team rebuild nor any of the other names usually mentioned on the manager merry-go-round. There must be a new Graham Potter out there somewhere.
  3. Comes across as one of the few that genuinely cares. Supported Ings well and he can see a pass. If we find a striker, then he could be a good supporting act - but suspect there'll be a few lower premier league teams sniffing around for him.
  4. He's taking the piss. Just fu*k off, Salisu. Think we should have a sweepstake as to the order they'll be out the door. My bet is this'll be one of the first.
  5. Never been to Plymouth's ground but it is quite a trek. Places like Coventry, Bristol City, Cardiff even Swansea are closer.
  6. RB didn't seem to learn. Was at Stamford Bridge when the players were all back slapping him for masterminding a win against an out of sorts team, but after that his tactics were the same every game even though we were losing every game. It was Ralph-ball without the press which made us sit in our own half with no ideas going forward. That said, surely the players should have had enough nous and experience to know what was wrong and change things. They've come across as a bunch that don't give a f*ck and that's what grates more than anything.
  7. Maybe you have a point. Even players like Jack Stephens and Lemina haven't looked bad at Bournemouth & Wolves. But no manager on this planet could make AA a footballer. Truly depressingly awful and my vote (and that includes thinking of the options Ely & Diallo!)
  8. Exactly - when you see the BBC website describe us as "tame", "muted" and "lethargic", a team supposedly fighting for premiership survival, you know this is total boll**ks. Just hope those in charge really don't believe the crap they're feeding us, because that would be of concern!
  9. Was it Barry Fry at Peterborough who put the whole team up for sale? Maybe it's old fashioned thinking but when you pay someone £1m+ a year, don't you expect them to at least try? This shower gave up over a month ago. I'd like to get rid of practically all of them (Alcaraz, Sulemana excused), but how do you rebuild? Get rid of the lot all at once? Or do you find a new manager, a couple of strikers and an attacking midfielder and keep the others? At least following Southampton isn't boring? This summer and who leaves and who comes in is going to be very interesting.
  10. Maybe a trumpeter signalling the start of the band procession by playing 'The Last Post'
  11. I'd also much prefer Jack. Lyanco is captain calamity. Gets caught out of position, can't hold the line defending free-kicks, not the best headerer, rash.....but you can't help but like him. There's certainly a lot of others I'd like to see the back of first. Plus, Bednerek will probably want out, there's something about DCC that's wrong but can't put my finger on it and with ABK & Salisu scratching the exit door to get out, we should keep him.
  12. Commitment sounds all wrong. Get rid. Want him out early, but how much more will we get than the £11m we paid for him? His stock was high 18 months ago but it must have gone down over the last few months. Reckon HarvSFC;s assessment is spot on with this kid. Too rich too quick.
  13. Watched a couple of games with Smallbone on TV this year and do like his forward intent. Can't be compared to JWP and similar to Tella, he still strikes me as a lightweight who can be easily pushed off the ball, but would certainly want him as an option next year. As for Tella, it's up to us whether he moves on and perhaps that depends on how much Burnley et al value him.
  14. Alcaraz will hopefully stay and I'd like Adams for the Championship but he will have his suitors and probably go. As for AA, this guy is truly useless. Against Lincoln he was the worst player on the pitch and i don't buy in to this thought process that he's good in the premiership. Lose him, keep Alcaraz & Sulemana, maybe Tella and find a striker or two.
  15. If Leeds, Notts For & Saints all ended up on 33 points, there's a high probability Saints would have the best goal difference of the three. And Everton would have to finish on 32 points. So Forest is a 'massive' game after all 😀
  16. Yep, didn't miss a trick there. Still reckon we should go fishing in the lower leagues for strikers with potential and find another Ricky Lambert. Once we're in the Championship, this is the perfect chance to find and attract the right players.
  17. When we were relegated 2004/5, 34 points was enough to stay up. Looking at the remaining Leeds, Everton & Notts For fixtures, there's every chance that 33 points would be enough to stay up this year. Is there a positive mindset pill our bunch could swallow before they play Forest on Monday? Can someone mix up RS's wardrobe so that in a fit of pique he doesn't travel to the game? Like Saint86 said, this should not be a year to be relegated.
  18. Makes sense he wants stay. He's only been at the club a few months and settled well so it represents a chance for him to build a good reputation. Could depend on how much we get when we sell Lavia, KWP and the like because I think SR will look to recoup some of their investments this summer and they may decide to offload anyone who'll turn a profit.
  19. Yes there's no stress on this game. Fair play to all those going - it could have been a crunch game but not now. But the stress is only just beginning. The summer departures and arrivals will dictate our season in the Championship and our powers-that-be don't exactly inspire confidence that they're going to get the manager and new players right.
  20. I agree we need a new manager before the transfer window but would also suggest our more successful appointments in recent times have been managers from overseas - Poch (no, not that one), Koeman & Ralph were pretty inspired choices.
  21. I agree. S-Clarke always provides well reasoned posts and this is spot on. Sort the spine out. One attack, one midfield general, one defence is the spine (so we need to find an attacker!). Then, target the players we're going to keep and encourage them to stay (like last time, Rickie Lambert went with us from League One to the Premiership as did Lallana & Morgan). Given the likes of Lavia, ABK, Bednerek, KWP will probably leave, I hope we can keep Alcaraz & Sulemana. SR must recognise they've spent a lot of money on a lot of crap. We have to offload these players. Unlike Newcastle who haven't changed the team wholesale but are constantly evolving with additions like Isak, Pope, Guimaraes, we can make major changes but we have to get them right. We'll have the comparative financial clout in the Championship to buy in good players but what's worrying is they're offering new contracts to players like Ely.
  22. And I'm seriously concerned that we are offering contracts to Ely, Diallo etc. This is a chance to rebuild around a small nucleus and get rid of so much dross. Alcaraz & Sulemana will hopefully stay, but the players we have at the moment could see us bypassing the Championship.
  23. Good to see the substitutions have had the desired effect 😒
  24. Is that the three tragic most substitutions in Premier League history?
  25. Agree with this. MLT carried us season after season, JWP hasn't. Yes, he tries hard and is a set piece specialist but he is limited and not forward thinking. Seven/Eight years ago, he came up and pre-match gave my son his training vest and you remember stuff like that but he's not a natural captain and if he leaves, I'll wish him good luck but won't feel that's a massive dent in our prospects.
