For me, Downes really epitomises how bad our coaching and management is. He was actually a decent player when he arrived, ok not so good on the turn and can’t shoot, but he was very good for the championship. We’ve somehow turned him into one of the worst midfielders in the league. The formation & tactics just don’t help him at all, he’s not smart or mobile enough to play in a 2 or be creative. He can break up play and act as a metronome to tick the team over. But he’s being asked to do more than that; it’s just not working at all. (Although a lot of it is probably just caused by the fact that he looks like he doesn’t want to be here.) We should offload this window tbh. I’d love to see Manning gone too, ASAP

As well as desperately needing a striker, CB and midfield we are also in dire need of a left back that can play football. Seriously, how have we ended up so poor in every position?

Feel the same. Horrific yesterday. As bad as when we went to league one before, but with even more expensive and unlikeable players with no connection to the fans whatsoever. It’s all feels basically pointless until SR leave. Even if he pumps in more cash, they’ll waste it all over & over.

Yes, we wrote off the back end of last season. This season is our great season with 6 additional months to prepare for due to being relegated so early, so we can smash the league.

Sadly that’s a great post. Who will we beat playing like we did today? Or against Boro/Oxford/Millwall? Next 2 games are huge. Skate is massive anyway, but if we get beaten by Sheffield at home as well then we’re in big trouble.

Fellows and scienza A case could be made for Bragg. The rest I just think are awful, awful footballers that are league one level or below. (We’ll find out in league one next year)
