Yes, the bond crisis is almost getting to the point where something breaks again. The debt burden is unsustainable. Because successive governments have ignored economic reality, we are almost at the point where the IMF will step in and carry out bailouts and enforce austerity. The state is too big. Public spending is out of control. Our fiscal rules are a convenient nonsense - designed to kick the can of financial reality into the future. We need to get real … and take bold action to tame the growth of spending, push back a now totally over-bearing state and snap the British economy out of today’s high-tax-high-borrowing-low-growth doom loop - the result of myopic, counter-productive policy-making by successive governments for the last decade and more … But I guess people will throw insults at realists instead of listening, as usual 🤷‍♂️

Doing a little dance for anyone who invests in his precious hometown is the type of thing you see in corrupt dictatorships. Im not sure what Farage or Lowe have to do with this, but personally I want to live in a country where integrity matters, and corruption is rooted out, not rewarded. How this is handled has bigger implications than just football imo.

To be honest, the PM gig is a poisoned chalice. A succession of unserious people, with no idea how to fix things, hamstrung by an overly bureaucratic political system. No one is even talking or being honest about the real problems that the country is facing. All that they are doing is shuffling deck chairs on the titanic and pointing fingers at each other. Until people wake up to how unsustainable government spending is, things will continue to degrade, the left will continue to want to steal more and the wealthy will continue to flee. All of which will exacerbate the decline.

It’s not inconceivable that this is the end of Man City as a club. *If* other clubs are allowed to sue them for loss of earnings off the back of this, the damages would be absolutely huge. It would make more sense for them to fold and begin again. - ⁠They lose the appeal and sanctions are expulsion or a deduction that is functionally relegation. - The EFL will not accept the existing company (or only on punitive terms). - Damages claims + unpaid fines make the old company insolvent or not worth buying. - Owners are barred from putting fresh money in (or forced to sell the club). - Players and sponsors leave faster than a buyer can be found. Then the old company is a litigation shell and a phoenix in a lower division looks cleaner. I doubt it goes this far, but it’s not that inconceivable at this point….

You may dislike FFP, as do I, but those are the rules. Every other club signed up to them and followed them, stupid though they are. The fact city had free rein to spend what they like has distorted football. They have damaged football massively. This is much worse than what Pompey did because it was £900million pounds, systemic and went on for ages. Not sure what planet people are on. In my eyes it’s the equivalent of Lance Armstrong’s doping scandal. They performed at a level way higher than they should have been able to. Actually it’s probably worse, because they also weakened the opponents around them by buying their players, which they shouldn’t have been able to buy.

The crime is that the sponsors are all fake. The “sponsors” are actually just the owners injecting money into the club, through fake sponsors. Fake websites, fake staff, fake everything. lol

They stole star players from across the premier league and the world. They stole youth players. They stole trophies, dreams and memories from every other club. It’s absurd they got away with it for so long.

Their owners must be made to sell the club, at a minimum imo. Irreversible damage to the reputation of the PL. And the money side of the game has always been off putting anyway

We are past just a points deduction and fine, I think. Even if the PL do something as weak and pathetic as that (which I doubt, because they have to preserve the league somehow.. the eyes of the world are watching), every other club will sue city into oblivion. The precedent there is already set by Burnley & Everton. We are in uncharted waters here.
