Prediction: FIRST PREM MANAGER TO GET THE SACK?
jasonb replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
I don't suppose the smug git will be too bothered. Isn't he on a 10 year contract?? Paid in full thank you very much :-) -
I wonder what McMenemy offered Keegan all those years ago... Obviously his money back for the light bulb but what else??? The project was alive and well back then I would argue. Kids and some senior pros coming to the end of their careers. IMO I don't think that transfer will ever be topped at SFC. I'm now indifferent to this guy signing. Really wanted it to happen, will be chuffed if it does, but not overly bothered if he doesn't sign. Only want players who want to be here.

Haha numbnuts.. Haven't heard that in years :-)

God knows I want to believe MLG... And the 'rumoured leak' that Pochettino has spoken to the player today almost convinced me he was going to come here... Bloody great that we are in the frame for these players tho.. Lest we forget where we have come from.
-
So has he knocked us back again then or what? I thought we had given him until Wednesday to make his mind up??

Awesome, as many have already said, I haven't celebrated an England goal since I don't know when. My visiting sister got the full leap in the air, fist pumping, screaming like a banshee celebration. As if this man could get any bigger a legend at our club! Pure class from the man. Professionalism and modesty in spades. England would do well to have a few more players like SRL on the plane to Brazil.

and his misses gave birth this morning... a day he'll never forget I reckon! Well deserved Rickie!! Saints legend!

My thoughts too: http://www.caughtoffside.com/2013/08/08/werder-bremen-deny-receiving-bids-for-marko-arnautovic/ I saw a tweet (I know I know) this morning saying we've had a £13M bid accepted for him.. probably horse-manure like so much recently but this is the place for speculation so.. EDIT: Forgot to post the tweet link: I'm no expert on the legitimacy of these tweeters.. for all I know this guy above is a known WUM but I'll leave that up to the resident experts here to shoot me down...
-
What about this Marko Arnautovic fella.. reading reports on the interweb that we've had a £13M bid accepted... Everton also interested in him.
-
He's been subbed... as you were.

From the reports I'm hearing on the wireless a certain Andrew Surman is doing everything but bloody score!! A few decent chances gone begging...GO ON NIPPER!!!
-
Moussa Sow would be a great signing IMO. Pace to burn, finds space really well, great technique, brave with his head, near post, far post, finds space (again), razor sharp onto through passes. All this points to no chance of us getting him. However, if I were to allow myself to dream a little.. I'd say Gaston would love playing with him (sic)... if they could get on the same wavelength we'd have the final piece in the jigsaw... PACE in attack.. and not a headless chicken kind of pace either re: Mayuka.

Defoe chatting to JRod on the training ground day in day out and latching on to the end of our lovely moves at the weekend for a season, maybe two... yes I think I'd go for him. As well as being known for developing youth we used to be renowned for bringing in veterans who had a year or two left to complement our youth. Seemed to remember doing okay with this setup.

Reports in Brummie mail that they hope to get the deal wrapped up later this week. He'll do well there. I personally think a player with his ability and a massive point to prove, let alone needing to get his career back on track would be useful to Saints.

Scott Sinclair going to West Brom is annoying.

The one thing these threads have in common is how shocking my memory is. I remember the guy obviously but I can't remember results or games like many here... Must be an age thing. Saying that. I may of chosen, subconsciously, to obliterate those wilderness years.. Or I was getting wasted at games back then. As you were

PRE-SEASON: Southampton vs Beşiktaş - (17:30 BST)
jasonb replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Whoa... Major, major statement... I've waited half my life to hear those words... I sure hope so Alpine... I surely do.. Case was my favourite Saint growing up.. A real enforcer and protector of the youth.. Combined with tremendous passing ability.. Cor.. I'm salivating at the thought. -
Exactly the case with my nine year old. I'm from southampton born and bred. Moved away to the midlands for Uni and then further north when I met my wife. Now live in Manchester which is a football mad city as we all know. The pressures on my boy to follow one of the two teams here is huge. Initially from my wife's family who are all reds. However, through his own choice he has followed his dad and is a saint. The nipper even wears his shirt on own clothes days at school... You can imagine the stick he gets! Luckily he's red-tag Tae Kwondo so has no probs dealing with non-believers :-) Good thread btw

This about sums up my gut feeling too. I think we need a fast striker to seriously improve us. I'd take Defoe in a heart beat, despite some reservations I've read on here.
-
Can't argue with that!

Not really a disgrace including both those names in a sentence where I am making comparisons and discussing those players. Really now, is it? My point still stands that MLT was also a lazy sod at times too.. I remember groans about him as much as Gaston... Maybe you can't remember them but they did happen. Time has enabled most of us to forget those shocking performances and only remember the match winning 'unbelievable' moments. I'm not knocking arguably our greatest player but the comparison still stands. These players can be divisive as is being proved correct in this thread.

Good post! Whilst Gaston has a long way to go before he reaches MLT legendary status; it is worth remembering or indeed highlighting (for the these new breed of idiot super fanboy forum WUMs) that MLT was also lazy, ineffectual and down right crap sometimes. As most of us recall, MLT was also unplayable on his day, maybe even a genius. Ramirez could be great. Time will tell. A more settled player may yet prove to be the match winner we all (I hope) want him to be. The only players we should be selling now are the not so good squad players and those who want to leave. We've spent too many years shooting ourselves in the foot.
