    Moon landings

    Cheers for the clarification.

    Moon landings

As I understand it they are simply out of focus and as such fade into the background.

    Moon landings

Hence the importance of it during the cold war, but now? Just as much first strike damage can be achieved from Earth. If anything, the time you would have from lunar launch to impact would allow you to land a fair few blows in before they actually hit. (It took a rocket four days to get to the moon, from earth it's half an hour to anywhere.) And lunar lasers? The amount of power/precision that would require to form a destructive laser is beyond near technical possibility. Even an orbital weapons shield is highly improbably, so what damage would a laser realistically do from a distance many-many thousands of times further away?
  4. Christ, and she's only 42.....
  5. Perhaps his contact in the club that he regularly sees socially has finally unveiled the real truth to him.
  6. And sadly a hopeless white elephant. Drive past there often enough day to day and it is a great place for a stadium, but not a football club.. Northamptonshire Sky Blues has a nice ring to it in an McDons kind of way.....
  7. The money from the catering alone is not going to pay the bills. The club has unsuccessfully operated on sponsorship/merchandise/TV only income for the past 18 months, the area that gave-way was their rent. Their accumulated debt over that time, rather then 1.5 million would have been approx 600k instead on the basis of the new deal, the negotiations are as good as irrelevant when the loses are still crippling. Their fanbase is dwindling, they are unwilling to support a regime that is killing their team. Their income will only reduce as they stagnate further. Coventry City FC is a dead duck.
  8. It does at least involve the girl with worst irish accent in the world "Annie Doccccccc-eeertey," (Played by Emily Lloyd) getting her baps out. The only football film worth bothering with is 'The Damned United.'
  9. The article implies that the club knows not all season ticket holders would make the trip to Irthlingborough for home games, they have about 7,000 I believe and so it wouldn't work unless there is a large degree of drop out. On the basis that they already owe over a season's worth of rent the deal being offered is almost irrelevant. Coventry City FC is unsustainable at the moment regardless of stadium terms, the club is inherently insolvent. The City Council will not relinquish control of the stadium to a hedge fund as they know it would be asset stripped and SISU have made it clear that they will under no circumstances sell the club as it's progress up the leagues/selling on of local talent (such as Gael Birgirimana) is their only hope in getting their stake back. Something has to fold, and it won't be local government.
  10. SISU's next step into madness, moving into facilities that have claimed two (three at a push, Kettering don't have long as I understand it...) clubs already: http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/coventry-city-fc/coventry-city-fc-news/2012/12/11/coventry-city-plan-move-to-northamptonshire-92746-32403936/

    Scott Dann

Can lead to a few good surprises though. Was most disappointing 8 years ago when we thought that Dawson and Reid were in the bag....... only for Spurs to gazump us. Sometimes it can be better to keep things in the dark.
  12. Right, they should protect them then? That is what the financial controls are for, to ensure they can stop them spending themselves to death...... oh, but that is an obstruction of fair competition..... because naturally they are meant to be allowed to do whatever the hell they want, yes? No wonder they are so confused down there.
  13. Just shows how some people can go off on one!!! Brilliant!!
  14. Yes, his versatility is a key part of his appeal. Unfortunately he has a habit of being frighteningly inconsistent. Thankfully it was Guly at his best yesterday. For the impact he had he would have been good value for a goal but sadly his shot was straight at Federici. Just before the substitution my friend and I were discussing how impressed we had been with Rodriguez, his movement and work rate had kept Reading more then occupied, that Guly could more then match up to that was a great relief.
  15. He played well when he came on but we were all surprised/disappointed that he came on in the first place. Booing though? What idiots.
  16. Battered and bruised but strong and fighting.
  17. A couple of the lads I used to coach are now referees. One of the key things for them as youngsters was that they were getting paid a decent amount for taking part in games they loved even at Sunday league level. (30 quid to the ref for one game, cash in hand. Two games is easily do-able on a Sunday, so 360 quid a month cash in hand per month.) But after that novely had passed they keep going, they love the game, enjoy being a part of it and there is a certain kick in being part of the system that allows football to happen. The lads in question are not egotists, they do not want to be the centre of attention but it allows them to be a part of football, beyond the level they could have reached playing. They want to be fair and even handed and love it when they fade into the background when the football leads the way.
  18. There are some good pubs in Erdington, if you remember the name Holyhead it must be from the pub itself.
  19. Yep, good one. Did Marcus Hall ever play for our first team? They love the guy here.
  20. Danny Fox Jack Cork Ronnie Ekelund David McGoldrick Martin Cranie Yousef Safri
  21. A five minute walk from my place. Did you go to 'The Holyhead' pub at all? I'm guessing if you know the road and liked the villages you ended up in Allesley?
  22. Very good!
  23. Strachan! Come on man.
