  1. Yep. We also had this one around 07/08:

Well, you feel that taking so many players who are not the finished article (this can mean all young players.... they are all by definition still learning) is a mistake in itself, the polar opposite to this is the QPR option of signing big name established talent. As we well know, neither system is perfect and the middle grey area is probably the best route. Personally, for me of the two extremes its better to sign only players that have the potential to get better then ones that will only get worse and also lose their value (and the club millions) in the process.

This applies to the mentality of so much in modern Britain. It's also why so many industries have a skills drain as no-one is willing to take the time to nuture talent. Better to sign players that can improve beyond their current capability then take the QPR option. But yes, the best way may be somewhere in the middle if you want immediate payback.
  4. Well, if the current ruling parties had the free reign to implement everything they wanted then it really would make for an eclectic living environment! Thanks to our political processes nearly everything we get is a compromise.
  5. Ironic in that they are working together? Such is the notion of a coalition.
  6. Actually, it's part of political principle towards the right wing to not have state regulated media, while I understand the ramifications of not following the enquiry he is at least being consistent. A split in the coalition over this is not a surprise. The Leveson enquiry did state that all parties were too close to the media, not just the Conservatives.
  7. Because in the rebooted Star Trek Universe the events of that episode have not occurred yet. Therefore they are just normal star fleet officers at the start of the new film.
  8. You have to start thinking in 4 dimensional terms Alpine.
  9. Not bad for a few days collection, but in the scheme of the takeover.... so wide of the required mark.
  10. I do get the feeling that the tide is changing down there. About time!
  11. Very much this. It certainly didn't work when I was over in Malta.
  12. A nice bit of publicity, just nice, nothing more and i've had freinds contact me saying they enjoyed it, people who don't care less about football and only made the link because they are aware of my slight obsession for Saints. It's raising the clubs profile in a harmless and mildly amusing way. Seriously, where's the harm? And you are right, the over-reaction makes no sense.
  13. Such anger and recrimination over a dancing dog in a suit! Hilarious!
  14. The rumours I have heard are that it will be Gary Mitchell (Benedict Cumberbatch), with his partner in crime Elizabeth Dehner (Alice Eve) also making an appearance. In the context of the title "Into Darkness" it makes sense and the dynamic of Kirk's academy friend obtaining superhuman powers and becoming corrupted by his new found power should make for a gripping story if done correctly. The intesity of Benedict Cumberbatch in the role could be spectacular.
  15. There really needs to be a 'little evils of socialism' thread to balance this out.
  16. Well, only two..... although having said that......
  17. Ah I see...... How do you feel about modern coaching methods?
  18. I dread to think how you felt during our previous time in the top flight, games like this happened all the time!
  19. Had it been picking and choosing from across the entire season you would have a point, however this is 4 games unbeaten now in a row. The trend is unquestionably upward.
  20. Special boy. Obviously your opinion doesn't suit yourself either.
  21. Sticky please mods? Shaw for me, worked tirelessly, getting fitter and sharper with every game.
  22. Is Alpine owning two accounts now?
  23. Really..... really no. Would have made spending the 7 million Jay Rodriguez look sensible. He is not ready either.
