  1. Well, it certainly helped perpetuate it. Yuletide greetings to all! Have a pensive Christmas one and all.
  2. Yet without it there would be no Christmas.
  3. Religion is an odd one. Science proves consistently that there is so much beyond our comprehension, therefore the concept of a god or supreme being cannot be ruled out. Organised religion as we know it though is utterly driven by political means rather then any desire to encourage enlightenment (Buddhism notwithstanding.) The Agnostic route is surely preferable to one of complete disregard.
  4. Religion? The bare minimum for me.
  5. What a wonderful idea, and totally in the spirit of the season. A charity game with proceeds going to those less fortunate. It'll be a cash injection beyond the Skate Trust's wildest dreams!
  6. As distasteful as I find giving a 12 year old a smartphone......Samsung Galaxy Y or Lumia 610
  7. The Championship was only fun when we were winning. As a fan I want to see my club competing at the highest level it possibly can. The wins at this level feel more meaningful, the goals more joyful, the extra profile at rubbing shoulders with the best clubs in the country more satisfying. Premier League all the way for me.
  8. As I have from now until new year off work i'm considering getting this. I'm guessing it will utterly consume the free time I otherwise would have had, no?
  9. Bradley Wiggins, a man with actual personality winning the Sports Personality of the Year award. Makes a change!!
  10. It would be interesting to see what Nigel Adkins could do with him...
  11. Stop teasing, come on.....
  12. Regardless of why that information entered the thread, it did (Although the sarcastic initial replies to the thread show no credit to those who posted them and would obviously have baited the OP). The reaction to it was the most important aspect.
  13. And that is why you will not be missed.
  14. It's not the money that I would be critical of, it's how it was focused. Over twenty million on two attacking players, if they make the difference that keeps us up then fantastic, if not then questions would need to be asked. I would feel it would be the wrong to point the finger at just Nigel Adkins.
  15. Because he would probably say something along the lines of 'man up and buy some Bonjella.' It's easing off now, thankfully. Worst thing about it was that swelling was causing it to rub against my back teeth. So while it's still there, the reduced swelling is enough to make it more then tolerable. It's lasted a week now, not had one quite that bad before.
  16. Just watching a few Bond films on Sky Movies Christmas. I had forgotten just how good a bond girl Michelle Yeoh was in Tomorrow Never Dies. Hardly a classic Bond film but she really was excellent.
  17. Good to know. Then we are agreed that even if he cannot match what Norwich have managed then survival, let alone mid-table would be an achievement to savour, regardless of whether it has been outstripped by another club?
  18. That was under Brian Gunn. The manager who relegated them. They replaced him with the manager of the opposing team who crushed them that day, Colchester and never looked back. Poor management can ruin even a good team, with Lambert at the helm they never looked back. The Norwich team that day included Holt and Hoolahan. Players now competing and impressing at Premier League level.
  19. This is true, but their relegation to League 1 was a surprise, ours was deserved. They had a better and established base to build up from in the first place, we had to rebuild completely. Norwich's achievements have been outstanding and utterly unprecedented. If we could in any way emulate them, even considering the resources we have had to put into our side to facilitate it would be equally impressive. We would be only the second side in the modern era to survive after back to back promotions, simply because it's been done already shouldn't lessen the feat should it come to pass.
  20. Back on topic. Any manager that can take a team from the third tier to mid-table in the premier league in consecutive seasons deserves full credit. If Nigel Adkins can achieve that I would be extremely impressed and grateful. If it was simply a case of money then Leicester and QPR would be gunning for European qualification, to make the most of the opportunity is the key, the resources at your disposal simply provide the chance.
  21. There would quite clearly be reason. Staggering how vile some people can be.
  22. It makes you wonder. What role are the nutjobs to play if the very Skates we wish to educate are now 'getting it?'
  23. Football will be worth whatever the consumer is willing to pay. Not just the ticket, but the travel costs, the ancillary costs, everything. The problem is it cannot be quantified by just the game itself, unlike other forms of entertainment there is a large amount of personal identification and emotion that happens with football matches. Compare it to a film, where a two hour piece of entertainment costs about 8 pounds or so, football is a rip off. Yet I pay the season ticket costs gladly and just hope the club don't take the p*ss. I feel it is too expensive right now, but then that's how I feel about many non-league grounds too. (£12 quid to get into Winchester City, really?) £20 quid a game would feel 'fair' to me, but that is something I doubt we'll ever see.
  24. My thoughts to his family at this time. Terrible.
  25. By jove I think she's got it.
