Is 'Put it in the mixer' included in that? I don't like the whole 'if in doubt' idea, yes, it gets the ball clear but at best leaves you in only 50/50 chance of retaining possession and most of the time gifts it to the opposition. When in possession the opposition cannot score so to surrender it so readily in the name of perceived safety just feels so rash. If the tactical system and player awareness are up to scratch then hoof it out should never be the first reaction for me.

Ooooooooo, a very English attitude.

Or something....

Which is absolutely not how we are set up. The ability of our players to sustain our possession play though is another question entirely.

That would have been extremely harsh. He was our best midfielder for me yesterday and played a key role in a positive performance. Getting the full 90 minutes under his belt will be vital for his conditioning after being out for so long. My personal feeling is that a combination of the poor clearance from Gazza and subsequent poor control from Yoshida caused the goal, no one person is to blame.

That f**k for that!

Fingers crossed. Hope the kids thrives.

You're a hot vampire chick? Yeah, I wouldn't have expected that.

And you are the guy who refuses to wear football shirts out of fear for how he'll look......

I like the idea of a muppet show bar. Dalek ranting to no-one in particular about Hoddle. Turks and The Kraken talking to themselves. Two sides of the bar, the cult of Cortese's and Death to Nicola branches on either side of the room. Alpine Saint slashing his wrists in the bathroom while DellDays watches on. Bearsy writting a multi pluralled literary review in the corner while Papa Shango, Saint Scott and I type away more crappy match reports. Toyko putting the porn channel on when no-ones looking while Steve, St Chalet and Just Mike serve the drinks and make sure no-one's misbehaving. And all the beer paid for by members fees. Huzzah!!!

It's reassuringly familiar, i'll give you that.....

He made a good mid season impact with an already premier league standard squad, but I think I see what you're getting at. He wouldn't have the right building blocks to have the same impact now.
-
Completely agree. His style of fitness and organisation worked for us ten years ago, but now with the squad we have? No. It would be a poor fit.

David Prutton?

Certainly around the midlands they don't. Aston Villa, Coventry City and Leicester took on a few youngsters from the John Bryan League I coached in around Coventry and as soon as they were snapped up they couldn't play for their original clubs any more, the Birmingham FA and other local associations transferred the registrations to the pro clubs.

A necessary article in my opinion. It is a very effective summary of why he may not be us popular as would be expected for people outside of the club/fans of other clubs. My Coventry/Villa/Forest/Leicester/Plastic supporting co-workers and friends in the midlands are utterly bemused as to why some people wouldn't want him in charge considering the rapid progress the club has made and the investment his relationship with Markus Liebherr produced. My comments about what has happened before have general brought responses of "So-what? look at the league table!" A lot of it is still conjecture, but it's totally clear that Cortese has put a few noses out of joint, not that he should or probably does care. Not all managing directors are personable, it's whether they are successful that matters and for me he has been, 4th year in and we've hit our first sticky patch.... that's life!
