Football Special

"In the league" We won 5-0 with this team on boxing day 2023

Playing Swansea always reminds me of one of the greatest tv shows of all time

We're due a win then although i remember a good win for us there in 2003 league cup, bogey ground

Sounds like Quarshie might miss this game with an injury

And a 1-1 draw

We called him Iain Dowie Football Genius

Depending where you're travelling from it's probably still better to go direct to Waterloo on diverted train, as once there you can head to Waterloo East / London Bridge / Charlton, early ko so might as well drink cheap cans on the train, then pubs after. Going to Paddington you'd only have to head back towards Waterloo on the tube.

I met him once when he was working for sky, seemed a top bloke and spoke fondly about his days playing for Saints, always a shame to see things like this

Tickets already on sale https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/southampton-u21-vs-real-madrid-u21

It's kids half term so I'm going to take mine along, would be interested to know if teams are allowed to field some overage players like they can in PL2, would like to see Saints give a run out to a couple.of players who need minutes, Real Madrid might bring over Vini jr and Mbappe who apparently have always wanted to play at St Mary's

He was good, can't quite work it out but seem to 'notice' him more in the international games, feels like he's let off the leash a bit more and holds back a bit for us, probably tactical

You can definitely see the confidence growing in the side , hard to know how season will progress but there doesn't seem to be stand out favourites for promotion yet , will be good if they can challenge, extra spots definitely makes this season more interesting

Nice article that, he was well liked by our fans and I thought he'd been with us longer than that, remember watching him keep a clean sheet for Northern Ireland against England as well, think a game Chris Baird also did well in

Our scouts liked a Norwegian didn't they, Egil Ostenstad, Jo Tessem, Lundekvam, Trond Egil Solvedt , think we'd had Flo on trial and of course young Stig

Lee Todd was always going to struggle for us as they could never find any kit that fitted him, poor bloke not his fault nearly tripped over his sleeves

Decided to take the kids for a day out to Fratton and a top afternoon was had, always felt we'd win even at 2-0 down, good support in our away corner , looks like the 657 forgot to set their alarm clocks , no show from them

Shout out to Totton who also have a massive home FA Cup tie this Saturday vs Truro , it's last qualifying round so potential for a big tie next round

Always nice to beat them, lots of changes to starting XI, play them again in a few days with a stronger side hopefully another win

Disappointing but entirely predictable We already didn't look like we'd score enough goals to challenge

We should get 3000 at Charlton and Millwall though so that's decent for Saturday London pubs day out

I think QPR fans moaned they were giving away teams more than they had to (10%) so club restricted allocation to just upper tier, even though they hardly ever sell out at home.

They don't . Lower tier already on general sale to home fans, plus loads others available in home end

Yeah QPR is a terrible allocation, probably will sell out today to 10+

Yep we're stuck in a never ending cycle of criticism of SR as we're stuck in a never ending cycle of bad results, same old issues still unresolved

Interesting comparison, I find the whole turning on managers early on a bit odd but I'm quite old school, with the Jones example I remember fans going after him quite early on , just felt weird as I'd known how the club had persued him and persuaded him to leave Luton , was definitely a case where Sports Republic deserved the criticism more than him Anyway good to see Liverpool fans starting to turn on Slot, when they struggled to beat us a couple of weeks ago I thought the writing was on the wall for him
