Football Special

I don't think it's that weak, just a number of teams focused on getting the basics right and not over complicating it, doing well because of that. Putting together decent hard working sides on a budget putting to shame clubs like us and Sheffield Utd in receipt of parachute payments and making a complete mess of it.

Need to launch a public inquiry immediately, this should not be possible, I'm sure we were told on here last season it was a matter of time until Derby's record was broken

I agree, Boro fan I know says he's not quick and won't do a lot on his own but can pick a pass and needs good movement around him

Tend to agree but we've already got enough wasters hanging around Staplewood , I'd like to think THB and Stephens will want to prove they can do better (they're not that bad) Look at other players we wrote off like Bree and BBD playing and scoring today

I like to judge things on merit , as shown in the image we currently reside 2 points above the drop zone and rightly so on form. Once the lads find a way to win football matches and move away from the relegation zone we won't have to mention it

Going to be interesting to see how those dropped players react, need them putting performances in to win their place back, hoping no strops and fall outs on the training ground

I think he deserves credit for making those changes, many thought he wouldn't drop Stephens and it was an improvement, problem is it feels like we're starting all over again with a new side needing to gel, massive next two games let's reevaluate after that

Wilder will get Sheff Utd going now, a draw most likely Tuesday I think , Still will not want to look at the table tonight

To be honest it's a relief he can't play against us next week , James Bree also getting a goal today Some big relegation 6 pointers next few days

Predictable result even with unpredictable line up, some good moments, bit of a freak goal to concede. First half I thought Stewart and Azaz looked immobile and Boro gradually realised we had nothing to hit them on the break with. Shame to not win having taken the lead

Could play Cedric at RB thanks to the he's our Cedric to the tune of She's Electric

Lots to choose from and need to find a settled team, any mention of Aribo or Edozie?

Got to agree, smells better

Has he actually had abuse or are they just assuming that's why he's deleted his account?

FFS Trousers sort it out , as bad as Sports Republic

Game will be replayed surely, will be amazed if it isn't

Some insight from the Boro fans , most comments seem fair enough, understandably cautiously confident. https://www.oneboro.co.uk/forum/topic/13992-southampton-v-boro/#comments I remember playing them away about this time of year in the last championship season, taking the lead and somehow managed to lose 2-1, going on current form a similar outcome seems likely

Old fashioned And RIGHT ✅️

Loads of tickets still available for this game , as usual mostly either side of the away fans, not surprising really considering our start to the season and the club classifying it as an A Cat fixture for pricing, not great value for money. Middlesbrough have sold the 2400 "basic" allocation with a handful left, but not taken full allocation so block 28 will just be left empty. Southampton Boat Show is on over the weekend for anyone who fancies buying a yacht pre-match, expect town will be a bit busier than usual.

A computer tells them what to do based on stats , age etc, Rasmus prefers that approach, not sure any actual scouting gets done.

Yes I meant as his Mrs does that particular job for sky i thought he'd be more comfortable, they can practice the interviews over dinner every night He seems like a sound bloke to be fair, hope it works out with him

That is correct. Just for the avoidance of any doubt, this is the order of the situation: Saints should have strengthened the goalkeeper position once Ramsdale departure was confirmed, Sports Republic neglected this and left us with inadequate options Of those remaining options McCarthy is the better goalkeeper but has no resale value so the club persist with handicapping us by playing a keeper who doesn't actually save any shots in the hope that one day they'll be able to recover some of the crazy fee they paid for a league one GK

He just doesn't seem quite right to me, doesn't seem comfortable in front of the camera which is surprising

Lol, good one,if Baz had made one of those saves I think we'd all have been in shock and unable to post , he's terrible as any Saints fan who attended in 2022/23 or 2023/24 can attest

Performance against Liverpool was good and certainly some players impressed, however I think it helped that Liverpool gave us space and we were able to attack them on the break. I expect Middlesbrough to follow Hull's blueprint and sit deep , also what Stoke did , need to find a way to break them down without them just waiting for us to lose the ball whilst leaving gaps at the back, getting the first goal would really help
