Seem to recall a few on here pre-match saying Aribo and Les together in the middle would be a disaster. It was - but the rest decided to be shit too.
-
So many of the basics just weren't there. Suguawara jogging back instead of busting a gut when he's only been on the pitch five minutes. Terrible crosses, defenders not getting tight, poor control, it was pitiful. But the thing that made me decide they've all given up was the complete lack of communication on the pitch. I was pitch side and didn't hear a single word between them all game. Silence. Nobody wanted to say anything. A lack of ability is one thing but combine that with a lack of character and we will get plenty more 5-0 hammerings before the season ends. The club is a shit show. Juric has no chance of changing anything. He's arrived just in time to watch the patient expire. Sports Republic - I don't know which 'sport' it refers to but it ain't football.
-
The only nails were the ones RM hammered firmly into our coffin with each passing game. We were definitely alive at the start of the season - so it goes way further than being pissed off at the rate of decline. Back on topic - can't see us doing anything other than loans in January. No point throwing good money into this mess.
-
Going with my son who is excited about standing at a game for the first time. Oh to be excited about anything to do with Saints nowadays π 2-1 to Brentford seems likely.
-
We were better against WH, they were fortunate to get the win; but what this really comes down to is your expectations. I think most fans are just hoping for more fight and a few wins. Even that will take time given the shit show RM ran. Maybe Juric won't improve us but that's the least of our problems. I've no idea which principle you're referring to as every situation is different.
-
RM really has left us with plenty of scar tissue. In any normal season I'd be hoping for January transfers to improve us but there seems little point chucking good money at an impossible situation. A win would be nice though.
-
Exactly this. Not saying it's the only problem RM left us with but that final pass/finish in the final third is often instinctive; and comes from being in that situation on a regular basis. It will probably improve in the coming weeks as we push more into the final third but way too late to make a meaningful difference.

Travelling from Devon with my son for this one. Feeling a little more optimistic for at least a performance/fight, if not a result. Pleased to hear they trained yesterday, it's not like they've had to travel far today.
-
West Ham should have too much for us but I'm hoping for a great atmosphere and a gutsy 1-1. Will Charlie Taylor re-emerge for this squad?
-
A point. It's a point! Away. Worth feeling positive. Equals RMs entire away points tallyπ I'm going to see the WH game with my son who's back from Uni for Christmas. Finally a game look forward to.

I think we've all aged this season π

Maybe I've,not read this correctly but you seem to be implying Russell Martin wasn't at fault for our current position? If so, that's truly baffling. Maybe our players aren't good enough but he picked them and he picked the system they played. And to be honest, we only need to pick up 6 more points between now and the end of the season to show they are better without the moron. Low bar right?
-
Good luck to him. I hope it results in a few decent wins. Shouldn't be like this though - a manager coming in before Christmas yet knowing we're already down for fucks sake. Even in the difficult 90s we were always fighting to the last few games.
-
I have it on good authority the candidates today were: Gregg Wallace, Harry Potter, Ted Lasso, Father Christmas (can you imagine singing 'Father Christmas red and white army' - and the Ted Bates statue. Tough choice. I'm going to lie down.
-
No obvious patterns from us and players look disinterested. Oh well.
-
Weaker Liverpool team tonight. We know how that worked out for us on Sunday. I'd bluff the players and tell them the new manager is watching from the stands tonight in disguise π
-
Especially for the remainder of this season. π
-
I know very little about the names being mentioned and I feel a little bit panicked about the situation - so I'd argue I'm in the perfect position to sit on the recruitment panel π
-
No, he'll be interviewing for the Man City job. Pep will happily make way. A guttsy but ultimately futile performance from Saints. I'm going 2-1 to Liverpool.
-
Somebody will always want to manage a PL club, even in our position. Maybe the sensible decision is an experienced PL manager with a contract until the end of the season. Then review in the summer after we're likely relegated - but at least we might show some fight in games. Then again, this is SR so who knows!?

I'm really enjoying this season. I used to believe that you needed to score goals, keep clean sheets and gain points. Players had to play in the positions they had been coached to play in since the age of 16. They had to do tackles and so forth. Under no circumstances should they gift the oppo a goal per game, within the first 5 minutes. They were meant to try and entertain their supporters. BUT thanks to Russell Martin I now realise how wrong I was. Watching the other team outplay us is clearly the way forward. Who need goals of our own when we can enjoy loads of theirs. I can now laugh every week at the team selection. The one negative for RM is that we've collected 5 points this season. I'm sure we're all disappointed with that but I'm confident Russ won't allow any more of that nonsense. Can't wait for Liverpool on Wednesday. Fortune favours the brave!!! Love you all, kiss kiss.

I think you're confusing possession of the ball with being competitive. We've been competitive in very small patches in maybe three games but I'm genuinely pleased you look forward to each game. I always want us to win but I also want a manager who is flexible and understands when things aren't working. Remember that fans have spent decent money supporting the team and they deserve better than this shit show.
-
Bottom line is that his plan/style is not producing results and probably never will with this squad. His failure to accept that and then move on to an alternative that might suit his squad, even if it's temporary to try and keep us up, is a sign of arrogance and irrationality. Neither are good characteristics in a leader. All we can do is witness the slow motion car crash. Anyone got another comedy carol to cheer us up?
-
We should get Rudolph the red nosed reindeer in to the team. He can 'hoof' the ball.

Silent Night, 'Holy Shit!' Night The First Go-el (Scored by Spurs of course) Away! Not in to danger Not forgetting the three gifts we bring Spurs - goals, nonsense and Russhair
