  1. We need to do what Sunderland and Forest have done. Go up with a team suitable for the Championship and then buy 20 players suitable for the Premier league. Even if it means a fine or points deduction it is worth taking the hit
  2. The idea of building a team over a couple of seasons sounds ideal. But I am not sure it is possible to do that now, because players like Fellows and Azaz have not come here to finish mid-table. So come the summer we could be losing our best players and rebuilding again.
  3. The referee had a long hard look at the assistant expecting him to flag for offside, but he didn't. This was this assistant who the ref later over-ruled on a throw when the ball had gone out right under his nose.
  4. What will really annoy me is that this lot are likely to go out and play well at Liverpool and just lose narrowly. What happened seconds after kick-off - what was the freekick to Hull for?
  5. Was I the only one embarrassed by the special Portsmouth themed video shown just before kick-off and the Beattie flag? Its the sort of tin-pot behaviour that we might expect from the Skates and not unlike what happened at Brighton in 2011. The club should be above this sort of thing, especially as the most likely outcome is to wind up the away fans even more.
  6. What I have said to West Ham supporters I know is that Fernandes is a very good player, but far from the level needed to transform their team
  7. Ramsey has got a red card for a very poor challenge. Yet we have see worse challenges on our players not get a red card.
  8. Generally, throughout the 1980s the capacity (according to Simon Inglis) was just over 25,000. Although the 80s was a time when football crowds were reaching all-time lows. I was at Villa Park in February 1986 when the crowd was 8,456 and at Chelsea on Easter Monday 1987when it was 11,512. I was also at the Dell in October 1969 when the official record of 31,044 was set against Manchester and that was unpleasant and dangerous. There were probably many more for Channon's testimonial.
  9. Not in the same position. But I will raise you Maitland Niles
  10. This is absolutely going to be 1-1. Saints to score first and Watford to equalise very late.
  11. Feels a bit like Theo Walcott to Arsenal. Went too early and never achieved his full potential. He made it as a decent footballer, but with better handling and attention to key aspects of his game like shooting, he might have been world class.
  12. Spurs away quite recently lost 2-1 to 10 men. But we were at it back in March 1986 when we lost 1-0 away at 10 man West Brom - who were relegated that season. I seem to recall we missed a penalty as well.
  13. The view from West Brom fans is that he failed the medical. Also Rudoni has been out and about in Leamington Spa and made it very clear he is not leaving Coventry.
  14. I was really hoping I could get through this window without hearing the term "war chest".
  15. Surman when we beat Barnsley 5-2
