  1. I guess we are on Sunderland's preferred buyers list
  2. Can I add to the mix Paul Jones. Brought in by his mate David Jones and displaced Maik Taylor, a fine player who could easily have been our keeper for the next decade. Jones was absolutely brilliant for half a season and then became complete rubbish.
  3. What is there to hate about Clarke? Hat trick on his debut and 36 goals in 82 games. How I would love a forward who could do that for us in the top division now.
  4. Kenilworth station which opened in 2018 cost £12 million. That is a bog standard station with one platform serving a single track line, probably not unlike what would be needed at St Marys, so the cost would be similar.
  5. A factor might be in how he has been treated along the way and played frequently on the left. The way he was dropped for the new best thing Livramento was disgusting
  6. If KWP goes to the right club there is still an outside chance of him going to the World Cup
  7. I live not far from Coventry. And bizarrely they actively discourage people from using the Arena station on matchdays as they don't think it has the capacity to cope. So one asset that would be really useful they don't use. And last time we played there in the evening I had got my ticket in advance and they cancelled the train at the last moment
  8. And his first goal was at home against Villa, not Notts County
  9. Saints will have a points deduction before Leicester
  10. Mark Hughes. Totally arrogant. Too lazy to play as a striker and dropped into midfield where it was above him to track back. Wasted chance after chance trying to score worldies when an easy goal was on if he passed.
  11. Maybe we should restrict it to players who were on loan and then didn't sign permanently? One that is often overlooked is Justin Fashanu - scored 3 goals in 9 games. And I believe he was our first loan player to score for us. Real shame he didn't sign permanently. Maybe his life would have worked out better in the more stable environment of Saints.
  12. I believe it was down to the condition of the ground in that area in terms of what weight it could bear.
  13. That is a reasonable point of view. But it didn't apply to Spurs who just dumped an extra 20,000 or more on to the existing traffic infrastructure, resulting in absolute chaos in trying to get away after a game.
  14. From what was said at the time, the foundations would be a problem with expanding the Itchen. The 32,000 capacity wasn't set by Saints, it was set by the council who were concerned about the impact on traffic flow. I went into this in some detail with Andrew Cowen at one of the supporters groups meetings they used to have. They did discuss building the ground with a higher roofline, leaving empty space to fill in when we proved to the council that the volume of traffic can be handled (although as someone frequently caught in grid lock trying to get past West Quay I might doubt that). But then they decided it would look odd - like MK Dons stadium used to look - and would give the media something to berate the club about as to why the seats weren't added.
  15. Terry Paine used to regularly serve customers at his fruit and veg shop at the bottom of Howard Road.
