My biggest catering related disappointment was at St Andrews (Birmingham City, not the golf course!!) back in the early 80's. The footballing fare was a gastronomic treat ... a 3-0 win with a line up that included Keegan, Channon, Moran, Charlie George, Ivan Golac, Chris Nicholl, Stevie Williams and Nick Holmes. It was a bitterly cold January afternoon and the thought of a nice hot half time drink was very appealing. At the time Jasper Carrott was very big and his football story about a trip to Old trafford with Brum is a classic ... so imagine my surprise when we got to the front of the queue and asked for a cup of Bovril, only to find they didn't serve it ... and in my best Brummie accent I said "they ain't got no cowin' bovrill" ... as if the poor serving girl hadn't heard that line a million times already. It helps if you've seen the sketch of course!! A luke warm tasteless cup of tea was hardly a worthy replacement.

Guess he was lucky we kicked off at 12.15 and not 15.00 then!!
