  1. Its not apathy, it is the question of where does this stop? Are you so star struck that you believe that it is your duty to support him at the expense of other causes. Frankly i dont blame the club for not selling the LJS stuff, because they have commited to a certain cause and they are not going to dilute it with another, which would then lead to other causes asking. I have a work based charity, The Piam Brown ward in Southampton, which i do golf days, collection boxes etc. to raise funds, I also have a personal charity Save the Children, I contribute and feel better for it, and it allows me to disregard any other (with the obvious exception of spur of the moment contributions like the Poppy appeal) with no guilt. I can turn students (earning money and not donating) away at my doorstep or charities ringing my company with a clear concience. As for the minutes applause, if it happens i will join in, I do not argue that it is a good cause, and a minutes applause hardly hurts if you feel that it is not against your principles (I did not stand at Blackburn when the Queen Mum dies for example), but my original point was, why are we always persuaded by fans (who just seem to worship anything red and white striped) thay we should be doing it, as I said, consider the fan who has been going for 20 years more of a Saint than some bloke who has played for us a couple of years.
  2. dont worry mate, i am fcking loaded anyway, once my SRL bet pays out!
  3. whoooosh, that one went over your head son.
  4. not sure England have ever looked better (in recent times) than under Hoddle, could be said the same about us (exception of WGS) and of course he did some crap jobs elsewhere, but i feel that he would do the job here. Lets face it, Lowe should never have bottled it first time round, and we wouldnt have had that c Redknapp.
  5. are you having a laugh?
  6. Next Permanent Manager Outright Glenn Hoddle Odds 33/1 Stake 10.00 Potential Returns 340.00 I dont neccessarily want to see the back of NA, however i just feel that if it is done, the Hoddle should be the man to take over, and so i have put my money where my mouth is.
  7. It is really about the long term ambition of this club, the realistic one - not CL ****** etc. If it is about evolving playing attractive and entertaining football ala Barca, bringing through 50% of your squad/team from the academy but only achieving EPL status year in year out, then fine, stick with NA. Let him run this club, top to bottom and develop it into a new version of say, Everton. However, it the real ambitions are bigger than this, then I would say work should be done now to bring in the likes of Hoddle. I am not a big fan of Hoddle, mainly because he is a knob, but he can play football, sort the defense, has experience that NA will never get (probably), and I think he has done the big jobs etc. cant see him coming here and f-king off after two years, will probably want a little more stability, and i think he would jump at the chance. If it means get rid of NA and bring in someone like Peter Reid or Gordon Strachan - whats the point?
  8. sorry, should have explained what happened after Nichol got sacked.... c'mon, I am presuming you have been around for a while, have you not noticed a pattern with our managers? In fact, is Adkins the longest serving since Nichol now anyway?
  9. two choices, stick with him, and hopefully come back stronger ala Man Utd/Ferguson or sack him and spend the next 10 years getting good and bad managers, the good ones get better jobs and he bad ones get sacked.
  10. sure i will get slaughtered (by people who cant understand English and subjectiveness) for this, but; as much (and i am a father) as I cannot contemplate what they (BS and Mrs) went through, and what great work they are doing in raising money and the profile for the charity, what has a minutes applause got to do with it, and why are we not having a minutes applause at every opportunity for every tragic event that happens - what makes a footballers story special over say, 4 soldiers killed in Afghanistan or even a Saints fan (been going for 25 years etc. more regular and commited than any player), who loses a child to cancer and does a charity bike ride or run etc. to raise money for a fund, does his child, or himslef get a minute's applause at SMS?
  11. what, so Hitler wasn't a cvnt? My point was, why would you suggest that, on what basis? Its a reasonable question.
  12. you suggested he was a cvnt
  13. first bit is irrelevant, and the answer is no
  14. whats is it with this Horton Heath guy, is he for real, or just trying to be as big a **** as one or two others on here?
  15. why would you say something like that? Thts on par to the skates accusing him of being a nazi, same thing really, groundless and irrelevant.
  16. you'd get a few quid at Huntleys! Though dont go back in if you have forgotten anything..
  17. Jeez, thats rich, going on about racism, from you!
  18. Who was playing from Saints?
  19. loads of clubs are playing players out of position, De Silva at City for example - if he is good enough he can still impact - the question is, is he good enough?
  20. OK. see, thats whats confused me, you have made a completely logical and sensible post to the OP, its very rare on here!
  21. so what are you saying then? It makes sense until you mention last weekend, which sort of undermines your logic?
  22. What a strange reply yourself - at what point did i say it took Chelsea and City 2/3 years to play well? Their objective was to win the league, and it took that long for the players to settle in to the pattern (with a stable management), play as a team and actually achieve it. Not sure what our long term objective is, clearly we have not bought players to win the league, if our only objective this year is to stay up, then you would hope that it wont take our players 2/3 years to achieve that! As for these people that go on about pre-season, i dont recall Rickie Lambert being here at pre-season when we bought him and he didn't turn out bad that season. How people can expect a team to achieve much in pre season (aside from fitness) is beyond me, clearly not quite as astute as others perhaps?
  23. How long did it take Chelsea and City to win the EPL after they first bought their teams, 2/3 years - theres your answwer
  24. This is the time to be the club we should be, as the adrianfc post, what will we get from sacking Adkins. Its quite clear that the defence is not good enough, he would know that but we do not know what went on during the summer to counter that, I would imagine for whatever reason (and it is not because we chased one player around Europe - what a a naive view that we spent 24/7 for a month or two dealing with one player, God, some people havent got a fking clue) we missed some targets, Buttner for example. Do we shove him out now and bring in, I dunno, a 'done the rounds' manager or do we stick with, know that he is tactically a good manager, that the likes of Saints are not going to get Pep or Fabio, so work with someone who can take us down maybe, but take us back up stronger. And that would be the same for some of the players too, they might take us down, but they can bring us back stronger. And who really gives a **** if we go down? Mainly the people I see around me that I have never seen before perhaps?
