Yeah, probably - but that's one of the benefits of pontificating on Internet forums; judgmental is part of the package. That said, we do have a free labour market where people get to pick their professions and employers. I've turned down a number of jobs because of ethical considerations. I certainly wouldn't be a Home Office enforcer. They seemingly have no problem with it, so I don't think it's entirely off-base to suggest that some might enjoy the authority / getting to harass foreigners.
  2. Another Prism related story, pilfered from another site:- What happens when a wife is searching for information on pressure cookers while her husband, presumably an outdoors man, searches for backpacks? http://news.yahoo.com/google-pressure-cookers-backpacks-visit-feds-140900667.html The goddam FBI, that's what!
  3. Do you reckon LFC fans will be calling each other bin dippers in the Kop?
  4. I do not watch any other leagues, but feel I should. It's a bit like saying "we really must go to the theatre more often" every decade. I quite like the idea of becoming a bit of a nerd on an obscure, but easy to watch league. Any suggestions?
  5. I know who Southampton's gayest man is. He goes by the handle of Big Gay Dan, and bears an uncanny resemblance to Stone Cold Steve Austin. There have been numerous quips made about "bottom lines", etc.

You're entitled to that view, mucker. I don't share it. This has been an interesting thread anyways. I like ant's points about the lottery ticket we all won by being fired out of a womb in Britain, but am somewhat less happy to see some of the more inhuman attitudes, like holepuncture's classy "vermin". The sad thing is, I bet his only crime is saying what a lot of people think anyway. I've encountered the Home Office before; they're not nice if you're the target of their attention. Look at the people ragging the lad out of the Nail Bar. Do they look like fine upstanding compatriots, or a couple of fat f**ks getting to throw their considerable weight about? At least the illegal immigrant hasn't let himself go! They look like pigs to me. I resent my taxpayer cash going to feed their fat, trough-seeking faces. I find it amazing that this is the publicity shot the Home Office chose to promote themselves. Fat f*cking stormtroopers? Whatever next? ant's right though. We have all won the lottery by being born here, even if you're born without a pot to p!ss in. Free education, health, an expectation of safety when out and about - we take it all for granted. Contrast that with some of the poor bastards that have made it here, and I can't blame them for trying, not even the economic migrants. Most people want to improve their own situation through hard work. We happen to live in a country where that is still possible.

Mate, just cos you can't play, don't knock the entire team.
  8. Saw this vid on Facebook; this sort of thing crops up a lot there. Also, in Peter Kay's entire act.

You tell him, Sour Mash. Illegal immigrants shouldn't be working in our Nail Bars. The Home Office, who do the fine job of arresting illegal immigrants in Nail Bars, should definitely make sure the public is aware of how their money is being spent. Look at those Home Office staff go! Very impressive work for men their size.
  10. The missus sent me to Argos to get a sofa bed. Both Vita models were going for 185UKP, so I snuck in the 3G model. Was going to get one this year at some point; going to get a PS4 later in the year so the integration will be nice. Oddly enough, I almost took it back this morning. The bugger kept on erroring out on initial setup. Took ages of searching to find a fix, but after an update, everything has worked nicely. I'm not a fan of the proprietary memory cards, but after the piracy that plagued the PSP, can't blame Sony for wanting to provide some obstacle, even it is a pain in the arse for the consumer. The biggest card I've seen so far is 32GB, at a very poor cost per gigabyte. With all those negatives out of the way, let's move onto the positives. While it's a bit of a stretch to say it pays for itself if you own other Sony hardware, there are generous terms on a lot of the Sony games out there - e.g. buy once - get for both platforms. Very good looking machine, and a hell of a lot more ergonomic than my first PSP. A lot of the rough edges have been smoothed out, and it actually feels like something you could keep in your hands. The screen has a weird texture, but holds up nicely. Remote Play, the ability to get your PS3 screen on your PSP, is a bit of a gimmick though. Hardly anything works. Overall though, a much welcome addition to the console collection, one which'll be even handier when PS4 rolls into town.

  13. Every warm-blooded creature in this house apart from me is female and prone to monthly madness. If they seem particularly mental, I flat out ask them if it's their time of the month. I have never been wrong when asking this.

    Zero hour contracts

Sadly, you're right. However, I always thought that one of the implicit trade-offs of working for a firm and sacrificing the chances for a fortune was being looked after by the large, powerful entity that you produce for.
  15. More details. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/jul/31/nsa-top-secret-program-online-data Interesting to see their implementation. Bit chilling though.

I take it you no longer want your apology, dune ol' buddy ol' pal.
  17. Deppo claims to have three active usernames on SaintsWeb, Bear. Mind you, not all of his Twitter feed is what you'd call accurate. But yes; very much a SaintsWeb fan site. They do love to talk about us.

    Zero hour contracts

I'm already in the world of the self-employed. I weigh up the potential rewards against the sacrifice of my rights. For me, the calculation is a no-brainer. I'd expect some rights if I was working for a firm.
  19. Imagine a job where you have no contracted hours! Sounds delish on first glance, but in reality, it's a short-cut to not having any stability or rights. This story hit the news earlier in the week, with Sports Direct in the firing line. According to this article in the Guardian, even Buckingham Palace is at it:- http://www.theguardian.com/money/2013/jul/30/buckingham-palace-zero-hours-contracts Implications of zero hour contracts, lifted from the article. the contracts leave staff without guaranteed hours, sick pay or holiday pay, and make it difficult to get a tenancy agreement, credit card or loan because proving regular income becomes impossible.
  20. I still have an open friend request from Glasgow. Fella got unfriended after claiming he had too many friends. Go for it!
  21. Well, not multiple active accounts anyway. C'mon Brettamie! Dish the suspish!
  22. Didn't you have a little period on there where your agenda was to list the posters that had multiple accounts on / were ruining SaintsWeb?
  23. Don't worry Turks, if it ever slips my mind, I have a fair idea I'll be reminded
  24. Don't mind Nick at all. Don't always agree with him, but been a decent enough egg on the UI.
