I've seen all of the video now. Samy is an odious little sh!t too. Ruled by his wife, but inexplicably proud. Still only about 2% as nasty as his missus, though!

The law is the law, and in this case, is designed to protect children from exploitation. That said, it has utterly failed in this instance. My grandfather, who is Pakistani, tried for years to impose a Pakistani style of living on his brood. He's very traditional, but I'm happy to say he's failed. My nan, who was born here, pretty much defeated him at every turn ( she used to keep pork products hidden at the back of the fridge, and she snuck all the kids off to a CoE church to get them baptised! ). I'm honestly glad of the intervention; my granddad is still a bit gutted about it, but the point he misses is that we're pretty well integrated. I mention all this because where people do succeed in maintaining their native culture over here, it often leads to problems. First off, any purposefully maintained native culture practiced in a foreign one is implicitly going to create an in-group/out-group mentality and little clusters of society that aren't fully attached to the rest of it, or have societal norms that are at odds with it. There are plenty of examples, from honour killings, people being spirited away to far-flung cultures to become wed in forced marriages. I'd argue that the root cause of all of it is a small scale clash of civilisations, traditional values coming up against Western values, with tragic consequences. People from that part of the world are very proud and very tribal. I have no doubt that in some households, a quiet form of racism is going on with regard to what kids are being taught by their parents. That they should marry within their own communities, that mixed marriages don't work, that Western values are corrupt and not worth taking on, and dare I say it, that the people of their native race are somehow better than the ones around them; self-veneration essentially leading to racism. It is clear from their actions that these men had no respect whatsoever for the women they groomed, otherwise I'm at a loss as to how they could have done it. It's definitely a racial thing too; all six of the girls were white. These were grown men who knew what they were doing. I'm not making excuses for the f**kers. However, I think it's important to recognise where such callous indifference is born. Ultimately it's the chasm between traditional Asian values, traditional liberal values and the fact that Asians try to apply those principles here. It's unrealistic to expect the same life if you are emigrating, even more so to expect your children to grow up and act like traditional Muslim kids in a society that is definitely not. This is not the first time that such a grooming gang has been arrested. The Muslim community needs to look within itself before this becomes a pattern that is impossible to ignore, and a collective stain on people of similar origins, if it hasn't already.

That's brilliant Tokes. buctootim and Verbal had better watch out! I do feel you've some way to make up on the latter though. Is there any way that you could perhaps construct an entire backstory for her, fuelled by enmity, filled with insinuation and the results of your own, fevered imagination? Also, could you forget any music that was made after 1970? Those two things and I think you'll have Verbs on the ropes.

They say that the customer is always right, or most of them do anyway. Meet Samy and Amy Bouzaglo, owners and operators of Amy's Baking Company Bakery and Bistro, who recently got their fifteen minutes of fame by appearing on Gordon's Kitchen Nightmares. He found them too difficult to work with and ditched them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=XQDtoHpAWhg#! They've recently rode roughshod into a social media storm when they took to the Interwebs to defend their reputation. http://www.buzzfeed.com/ryanhatesthis/this-is-the-most-epic-brand-meltdown-on-facebook-ever In fairness, Samy comes across as a nice bloke who is probably ruled by his d!ck. Amy is batsh!t crazy though. Posted here instead of the Lounge as I'm hoping for judgmental remarks, not serious discussion.

Ah quiet, Bazza. We are safe because we picked up more points than them, so many more that they can no longer catch us.

The start of the season was crazy. The whole Ramirez saga, the collective amazement over us not targeting players for our weaker positions - and most of that was before the season started. Our first games were encouraging in terms of spirit and the way we wanted to play, but the weeks without points because of a lack of ruthlessness or silly mistakes was tough to take. Learning curve, and quite honestly, one of the most uncomfortable periods I've ever experienced as a Saints fan in the Prem. Back in the day, the first couple of scrapes with relegation were a bit of a shock, but we knew what we were in for. After quite a few "nice football, shame about the results" performances, we finally got a win. Turned out to be a false dawn. November was dire. While it was good to see us climb out of the relegation zone, January was utter chaos - mostly due to the NA sacking. I can appreciate the opinions of those who think that the sacking was mishandled. It definitely could have been handled better, but I'm not convinced ol' Nige was as in the dark as we were, or at least pretended to be. I do think we've shown definite improvement under MP; not just the big scalps but the general desire to win that has been there for most of his games. I don't know whether that's sustainable over the long run, but it has been amazing to watch when we've clicked. Bossing teams; no respect - I'll have a lot more of that, please. End of the season has been a bit of a disappointment in terms of wins, but we've picked up some important points to get us over the line. Sitting here with the certainty of safety, it is nice to have survived at the expense of QPR, and absolute joke of a club and surely the final nail in the "'Arry's a good manager" coffin. I don't too think many people will be too disappointed to see Reading go, but I am a little gutted that Wigan have gone tonight - a far cry from my whining about them a few years ago. I'd like to see someone able to reliably shoot from distance next year. Not particularly arsed about whether that's someone boning up pre-season MLT style or a new signing, but I do feel it's missing from our game.

trousers is a good poster. Bit more to him than a few links, although I don't even mind those. Keeps the site bubbling along, innit. I see as him as the sort of right-winger that frets about where the money is coming from, rather than someone who fancies going on "peasant safari" in sink estates*. * I have no evidence that the latter actually happens.

I make no comment save for the fact that it is nice to have a ready made replacement in our new comrade from Gotham.

People have had a pop at you ages ago for saying that you were going to leave and never coming back, then coming back awhile later. Bit of short term crap flung your way at the time, but it's a million times better than getting yourself banned and having to sneak back in. It's the forum equivalent of being on the run, isn't it? Always looking over your shoulder. Not knowing what you can say. Always worried that you'll do yourself up with a slip of the key. Not for me, guv.

It's a good job that SaintsWeb abhors a vacuum. Every time we lose a poster of such esteem we seem to get another one a bit later who posts a lot like them. The beauty of renewal, isn't it?

How many times have you listened to it?

Nothing like the Dell days, eh?

I did not know that Bob Crow's position, and that of the RMT, is unequivocally for British withdrawal and an early in-out referendum. As everything he says is complete sh!t, according to some of our right-wingers on here, an EU exit must therefore be a bad thing.

Cameron's latest move is not legit. They're talking about using any means necessary to get the bill heard at Parliament, including the use of a Private Member's bill. Without any will behind it, the legislation will most likely be talked out of time and will never happen, allowing Cameron to blame Parliament for not giving the British people the opportunity to choose, then trumpeting the usual line that only a Conservative majority in the next election will get you a referendum.

Eight copies of this. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/1852250437/ref=dp_olp_0?ie=UTF8&condition=all My mate posted it on Facebook. I plan to either sell them or send them to people when their relationships break down.

Quiet, boatrocker.

Looks like it's definitely a real story. If the Beeb is to be believed, then it looks like the owners want someone else in to validate some of the decisions. Or of course, they could be looking to sell the club. Probably not worth putting your fingers in your ears over this. However this is resolved, it'll have an impact on the club going forward. Still a little concerned that we needed to borrow money at the beginning of the season.

Not quite sure I understand the "instead" part. I was recommending a tune fit for a playa. While your contribution is very interesting, and I'll probably listen to it again, not exactly going to be my "ho honeytrap". (how many have you snared with this?)

tbf, it was nice of them to wait until me ma had finished tidying up.

That's a question I've been asking myself all morning. Wouldn't normally post this sort of thing in the Lounge, but this is a very smart diversion that'll get your noodle working. http://geoguessr.com/ You get taken to five places in the world via Google Maps, and have to guess where you are.

Sir! Sir! I know this, sir! It was dune!

I haven't even seen the film and have a fairly good idea of what the twist will be.

If your comments on my political views are based on deductions from my posts, don't ever get into the investigation lark. I'd really like to answer this seriously, but find it impossible to do so. Unquestioning adoption of infowars stuff? Yeah, alright. I hardly posted any links myself on that thread. I may consider a wider breadth of material than yourself; doesn't mean I believe it or adopt all of it. Still, you are an amusing old sort. Keep up the good work.

Ah, c'mon. There are degrees, as you well know. All I'm doing is pulling Verbal up on his post content, which is a far cry from his creative writing.
-
Well, if I've contributed to the snarkiness, I apologise. Verbal needs to follow his own advice and read more. It's fairly clear from his reaction to my posts that he believes I'm a UKIP supporter
