  1. Have you got any evidence to suggest that NA was a clear and competent communicator?
  2. How many of these threads end up with a bunch of judgmental right wingers spouting one line critiques of things they don't like?
  3. And yet he may still be proven right. The interesting thing about him taking the Reading job is that superficially at least, Southampton and Reading are similar. Hell, Reading even beat us to the punch last year - so at that point, they were officially better than we were. Were they though? All these questions and more will be answered to some degree by NA's appointment as Reading Manager.
  4. Blimey. Looks like Adkins has the Reading job. This spices things up somewhat. I am sure NA will feel he has something to prove. The media will be all over our clash now.

    Boris Johnson

I used to like Boris, but he's one of those characters that doesn't bear close scrutiny. C'mon Boris supporters! What's the big ideological idea that separates Boris from Dave? Why would he be better?

    Boris Johnson

Have you seen any of his dealings in London? What is your Boris-lust based on, hypo?

    Boris Johnson

I certainly wouldn't rule it out. Boris has enemies everywhere.

    Beef Jerky flavour?
  9. It's a personal choice, Turks. A lot of the people who have moved abroad like to keep schtum on the details, whereas other southern lads who've moved up North like to give it the large about their success.

    Boris Johnson

Seriously though, anyone who thinks that Boris would make a decent PM should have a look at that video. For anyone who really can't be arsed, it boils down to this. Boris is fine at giving criticism - p*ss-poor at taking it. That in itself is not rare, but it really did amuse me to see Boris speak for me and decide what I'd like Mair to ask him. I think Mair was doing brilliantly, thanks very much.

    Boris Johnson

Slight technical correction. I don't think that "owned" covers it. Time to whip out the much stronger internet version. Pwned (pronounce p-oh-ned, old-timers!)

Grilled by Eddie Mair. [video=youtube;ZAxA-9D4X3o] Hmm. Boris for PM? http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2013/mar/24/boris-johnson-interview-eddie-mair
  13. I'm not really for any of this weight-based stuff. I can see how, scientifically, it makes a certain degree of sense. It works on a fuel-cost-per-kg level, at least. However, as we've already discussed, there are plenty of factors that go into determining a person's mass, including height and the ol' fat-to-muscle ratio. The annoyance for the fellow passenger is actually your obese passenger; the sort that have rolls of flab that occupy adjacent tea tables. The in-flight attendants are normally good enough at sorting upgrades to help the perpetually crushed, but it can be a p!sser on a fully booked flight. If airlines are going to discriminate, then they should take a stand and ban obese people entirely. They could call the campaign "Pigs Won't Fly" or something. They're not really interested in that though. This is just a ruse to trouser more cash from people who probably feel pretty crappy about being portly anyway.
  14. The rubber has perished, apparently.
  15. Ah, quit your bleating. "Mwah mwah! I'm tall. I live in paradise where I am attended to by modern-day serfs. I spend all my time with celebrities. And yet, I have to sit next to people I wouldn't necessarily want to on airplanes!" Wha', you think none of us has ever taken long-haul before?
  16. Actually pretty good financial news for me. I'm just over 10 stone
  17. Is he being serious at the end? Upset because of what he got? Wuss.
  18. The Pompey hate has bothered me for years. Got quite a few real life mates who'd devote quite a bit of their time to hating Pompey. From my perspective, seems like another time commitment on top of supporting Saints and the fact of the matter is that I have stronger feelings about Saints fans who spend all their time goading Pompey fans. Yes, yes - I understand that a section of their fans were very gloaty when we were in the sh!t, but if you're having a pop at those people, you're essentially a reaction to a group of idiots.
  19. Not that I normally give a crap about the concerns of the longshank crowd, but doesn't this discriminate against tall people?

    Best intros

We listened to a lot of Floyd on a recent trip to the Lakes. I think it's something like 8 minutes before you even hear a vocal.

    Best musical climaxes

Ok, audience identified - I submit the following for your consideration.

    Best musical climaxes

It's a climax and an echo of that climax Blimey. What more do you people want?
  23. Inspired by RonManager's Best Intro's thread and informed by my own musical prejudices, I'm perhaps fondest of music with a rousing or genuinely well thought out climax. It's always annoyed me a little that an epic like Freebird doesn't have a recorded climax ( although I get why for that particular song ). Anyway, ball rolling:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MKECkPawhU

    Best intros

As well a kick-ass intro, also one of the best songs ever - although I wouldn't want to be one of Zach de la Rocha's kids trying to earn pocket money. At the start of the song, he says "Bring that sh!t in". Bit later on, he says "bring it back the other way". Consistency is the key to parenting, I feel

    Missing Lee!?!

Wasn't his work permit approved because he was an exceptional talent?
