When Adkins was sacked, opinions very quickly polarised. Many made bold statements about the characters of people who supported the decision. Some even said Stoke were a better run team, more or less the ideal role model for a plucky underdog like Saints. It's the omission that does my nut in, I think. The pro side yell "back to back promotions", but leave out all the cash we spent or the fact we almost threw it away. They yell "winning percentages!" in much the same way, once again forgetting that most of the numbers making that percentage up come from the Champ or L1. The dire start to the Premiership is glossed over.

To be perfectly honest, I prefer the post-Adkins MNF analysis, where Neville explains how we're ripping teams apart.
-
But but but.... Adkins only spoke in cliches because he was a tactical genius keeping the oppo at bay, right? Either that or he was so scared by the iron fist of NC that he was forced into them! So why is he doing it as Reading?

Not really a patch on the other figures, is it? What's the take on this? That people think its unfair that people get benefits because their wages haven't gone up? Yep, we're definitely doing things for ALL the right reasons...

They're the only party that stands a chance of unseating the current government under first past the post. They are not the only alternative. My personal belief is that true change will only come about when people are shaken out of their apathy. I already see that happening and it's a direct consequence of coalition policy. Might be a little premature to speak of revolution, but as I've said before - their policy has been near universal in that it negatively affects almost everyone. More people are realising the whole thing is a con. That the financial services industry we prize so much is nothing more than a casino, that our captains of industry fcked it all up and Joe Public is carrying the can. The privatisation agenda is also wholly obvious. Despite what you might think about the last Labour government, Britain didn't swing to the left when they come in. I suppose "nice" people and virtues were more highly praised, but it was a right wing government in all but name. We'll see whether the influx of new members into the Labour Party changes its character, but the last lot didn't do anything radical in terms of wealth distribution. They just borrowed a load of money and doled it out. The day is coming when socialist policies won't be funded by borrowing, but by brave political decisions. The penny will finally click that we don't have to live this way, that countries like Italy and Greece don't have to sacrifice democracy to be part of the financial system. When you've got a government in that is brave enough to hoover up all that spare cash or legislate on behalf of the many, then we can talk about alternatives. Whether the Labour Party develops the balls to do that, I don't know.
-
Why should someone complaining about the current government have to act as a cheerleader for the Labour Party? More specifically, what is the point in discussing radical solutions to our current issues if you pull it back to what the Labour Party will do?

Sure it's just a question of perspective, trousers. If you're a relentless apologist for an unpopular government, then I'm sure you can derive a way to say they're something else. If you're someone like my father in law, former paratrooper living in a 3 bed council place, having to pay the bedroom tax, then I'm sure it feels like a cut.

For a very long time, I wanted to use the Test Match theme music. I may still do that. However, there are tons of alternates. I reckon loads of people my age will go out with Flaming Lips "Do You Realize?", possibly the most provocative song to play at a funeral ( all your rellies suddenly checking blood pressure ).

It's an "impressive" haul of posts he's amassed in his first five months here, isn't it? Not one of them impressive, btw Glasgow will be along shortly to tell Bazza he is being bullied and that he is the best poster on the site.

Think the real problem is where the cuts have been made, trousers. They seem to adversely affect everyone but the super-rich, who have done rather well. The only reason they're getting away with it, for now, is that they continue to spread misinformation about where all the benefits money is going. I suspect that you'll only realise the true damage that has been done here when the underclass start viewing the middle class as aristocrats and there is an international border running through mainland Britain. I used to think that the Scots would vote to stay in the Union. Salmond's job has been made a lot easier by the incompetence and indifference of this government.
-
I was surprised too, trousers. Any tips on oppressing the underclass?
-
Yeah, you probably should have put this much effort into your OP, Crab Lungs Football Weekly has been very good lately. They seem to be impressed with us.
-
Believe it or not, this class warrior is actually a member of the Elite.

It's alright. 'Cos they're nicking my bandwidth, I replaced the image

It's very simple. The apex of international football is the World Cup. That happens next year. I don't care whether Lambo is a long term prospect. If he can help us at the World Cup, I want him there.
-
Well they had different examples. Trains run on time? Good thing. Murders and state-sponsored killing; bad thing. Not my view, but that was what Jimbo was going on about.

I see the thieving bastards over at not606 have robbed me Nige vs Poch graphic! They're even stealing my bandwidth, FFS

L'Equipe bang the drum for a Schneiderlin call-up

Lex Luthor before he gave up Hershey Bars to take up super-villainry. -
A lot of people said this at the time too. So er, where did he end up going?
-
They've just been talking about this on this week's Football Ramble. Savage isn't really a puzzle. He's employed because he goes off on one on 606.
-
Nope. Others will waste millions on punts trying to improve their squads and fail anyway. What's your assumption here? That every other team is going to get 3 or 4 Michus? Naive!

Which unfortunately, sums up the attitude of many in politics. You're treating the political makeup of this country like it's a team sport. You might as well make an impassioned case for Burger King over McDonalds, for all the good it does.
-
My dissatisfaction with the spinelessness of politicians extends to all parties. I'm not sure that every idea has to be about curbing enterprise. There are apparently 2M people smoking weed in this country. Instead of making money from that, we're spending money to stop them from doing it. And failing.
-
Oi, right wingers? What was wrong with my rent control idea? Oh, that's right. We're not allowed to touch that part of policy; along with tons of other "untouchable" areas of policy that would save the country billions. If there were genuinely no options, you might have the beginnings of a point. Look at all of you. "Wah, it's unfixable!". "Wah, nothing can be done!". Yes it can. Either you can't think of it or our politicians won't do it. It's a f**king good job Nazism happened when it did. With the defeatniks seemingly forming the bulk of this country, we wouldn't have stood a chance today.
