  1. Back OT, best bands I've seen live. Energy: Skid Row. Seb Bach's voice fell to bits, but they were still great. Intensity: Probs Metallica. I saw them three times for a reason. Best debut: undoubtedly Thunder, a band that managed to charm the pants off all of Donington when they opened 1990s show. Fidelity: Yeah Yeah Yeahs. They play and sing very well. Wall of sound award: Arcade Fire. Seeing 13 musicians recreate studio form is bloody amazing. They also rearrange a lot of their songs for live performances too. Best all round band: Iron Maiden. They love being on stage, never seen them do a bad show, big theatrical props that impressed the f**k out of impressionable teenage me. Real crowd pleasers too.
  2. I love AC/DC, especially the Bon Scott era and Back In Black. I often think I was born 20 years too late. Would have been awesome to have seen that line-up. Saw them headline Donington in 1991. Great gig, and I have it on DVD. My only problem with AC/DC is that Angus hogs a lot of the limelight, reducing Brian Johnson's chance to be a frontman. Still amazing though, although it's telling that they only play around three songs written after Back in Black. Bon Scott was a story-teller, and he was dangerous. Whole Lotta Rosie, possibly their finest song, is all about the quality of sex with large ladies, while Squealer is downright disturbing. There'd be outcry if that song was in the charts now. Genuinely think he was the only one keepin' them real. Master of innuendo, too. Big Balls is genius; I whack it on in the car, chuckle like f**k and insist to my family that it is merely a song about ballroom dancing. I am 37 years old.

What are you planning with this character? With the whole Labour Party angle you could slowly cross the floor of the house, berating as you go. I'll forward you some Labour Party North West emails so you can engineer authentic grievances. There will be massive fecking plotholes (naturally) but I think it could be a go-er. Also, next time you go abroad, don't muck about with any of this passport malarkey. Just reference your 9 month old not606 account. I'm sure that'll do.
  4. Hypocrisy is bloody handy at times. Jack Dee said that, so it must be true.
  5. Gently does it, sir. However, do keep posting up your experiences as you progress. It might encourage others!
  6. Mark the day. Dig Dig has started thinking Just joshing like.
  7. Yeah, as soon as Cortese sees this Nige will be up crap creek. Miltonroader07's word is law.
  8. If you have to ship a manager mid-season, January is the time to do it. Besides, haven't we got a transfer committee?
  9. Been done. Perhaps have a piddle in Cortese's petrol tank instead?
  10. Actually a fair enough hypothetical question. If there is any managerial movement, then it's more likely to happen this month than next. Personally, I want to see us beat Villa tomorrow and start climbing the table. RDM is a weird one. The cup double looks amazing on the CV, but AVB was responsible for much of that and well, he was managing Chelski. Not exactly short of decent players. I think most would be cautiously optimistic.
  11. You can't ban Bazza. He's an award winner over at not606. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/187376-The-2012-Not606-Awards
  12. Haven't read all of the thread, but apparently Vlaar is to return to the Villa side (source SSN).
  13. The original motives behind closer European co-operation was to prevent another world war, plus all that bulwark against communism stuff back in the Cold War. Apart from the odd civil war, notably after Yugoslavia was broken up, the continent has been at peace for almost 70 years. Massive respect to those who helped rebuild Europe after the end of hostilities, but it speaks to your point about organisations having a finite life. Would Europe sleepwalk back into war without the EU? Doubt it. Historically, the EU has done great work, but I feel its time is coming to an end. The Common Market has a lot of advantages, and the very existence of a trading bloc would have smoothed relations in a pre-Internet time. For those who defend the EU, indulge me with an answer to this question. Where next? Hard core believers in the project would have political union. The eurozone countries are already well on the road to this, what with fiscal compacts, etc As a Dad with a couple of girls, I have enough trouble reconciling the needs of my nearest and dearest. The PM is never going to please all the people all the time, so I do wonder how the integrationists plan to make a functioning "country" out of so many different elements.
  14. Succinct post, Sergei - and one I agree with. The EU needs us more than we need the EU, despite the persistent noise from some of our European partners that Britain should shut up or get out. Problem is, even renegotiation will still see the average Brit facing the same problems. The US wants us in. Business loves a labour market of 500m people. The potential benefits, such as the ability to live and work anywhere in the Union, don't seem so great when so many parts of the Union, us included, are having enough trouble finding work for their native citizens.
  15. When I say "we" I refer to my status as conspiracy nut job, not my nationality. You are mistaken, but more so than you thought.
  16. He had a good go, bless him.
  17. Alex Jones doesn't represent the American mainstream. He's famous for running a bunch of conspiracy websites, not even that respected amongst (ahem) "moderate" conspiracy nuts. I wish we had better representation
  18. I have to say, there was an element of doubt when I laid down my Labour North West email subject title challenge. I've been wrong before. Humble pie is a dish I'm used to, and hopefully, my consumption of said dish has garnered a little respect in a restaurant that largely serves a menu of "never wrong" meals. I posted the specific "show me the email titles" an hour ago. Given your prolific posting statistics, I'd have expected a smackdown by now. Think the next character through, dune.
  19. I did. That's why I was provisionally intrigued. Thing is, Miliband's email was widely reported across national media, so that on its own proved nothing. That's why I asked for Labour North West email subject titles. We should both be getting emails from the regional party. There's evidently no problem with your email account, as you got the email from Ed. Three replies from you so far yet no response.
  20. I think you've done really well, dune. You fooled buctootim. You go home with that no matter what happens. You f**ked up the grand prize. It happens. I think you've entertained a lot of people. I always liked that about you.
  21. Opportunity to kill pap missed. Case closed. Welcome back, dune.
  22. Barry - you have the opportunity to give me the biggest xxxx off ever here. Labour North West email subject titles. That's all you need, kid.
  23. Not yet, but I am provisionally intrigued. Sort a couple of Labour North West email subject titles out, and we might be in business.
  24. Couple of Labour North West emails?
