    New TV advice

Don't know about the smart tellies specifically, but couldn't be happier with the Samsung LED I picked up last year. Took the bugger on holiday with me ( log cabin telly was minuscule ). Biggest surprise is how much modern tellies can do. After faffing about with loads of different media player options in the past, I can just plug a USB hard drive into the telly. Plays everything I've thrown at it ( divx, avi, mp4, mkv ).
  3. Sorry for the double post. Revenge? Ah, that's beautiful. Kinda implies that I was hurt by the furious barbs of Trippie Trap Trollie. My advice to you, sir? Be happier.
  4. Arf. Not really my recollection of events. Good to see you speak for the forum again, though.
  5. Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. I don't like being used as a salesman. I don't want any weight that people may have attached to my opinion to be used to sell goods. I paid the £5 subscription to be free of advertisements. I don't expect to become one. To be fair to you, I've seen this practice used on other sites - but it renders each and every one of them the Internet equivalent of a Home and Bargain. It's low-rent and it's cheap. Suppose it depends on the priorities, Baj. What are you here to do? Serve Saints fans or make money?
  6. I was going to reply to that one myself, but I thought "nah, someone else is BOUND to pick it up". Twelve minutes. I'm impressed.
  7. I think your point is fine without the specific comparisons, and perhaps a little diminished by them. The top teams argument is a good one, but most Saints fans have heralded the re-emergence of Cork into the squad and I think that one thing most of us can agree on is that we've seen both our play and players develop. I've never got the Guly hate; I've mumbled a FFS at the fella a couple of times myself, but then I do that with loads of Saints players. Especially this season Clyne is looking like a good buy; Shaw has seemingly solved our left-back problem and I'd wonder who'd think Punch the billy big boll*cks now? Lallana is a fantastic player; still got some improving to do, but has improved loads this season already. The chap's clearly got skill and technique. I just wish he had a bit more confidence in his ability to get them in from a distance. Different league; better defending, etc, granted. If only we knew someone who was excellent at banging them in from all over the pitch and was mates with Cortese, eh?
  8. I don't really think it's about blame, although I'll agree that the thread title is provocative. You'll often see a different dimension to a team when key players are lost. Bryan Robson missed out on Mexico 86, and we faltered against Portugal, but then picked up afterward. Doesn't mean Robson was crap.
  9. Indoor fireworks were crap. I think Balotelli was using the outdoor variety anyway. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2052207/Mario-Balotelli-house-catches-firework-let-bathroom.html
  10. The man decided to stage a firework display in his own bathroom. Playing for Saints could another of those crazy things he does
  11. FFS, trousers! Don't marginalise the boy at such a tender age!
  12. I need Windows. I wish I didn't, and I do actually like Mac OS. Problem is that developers will always see the Mac as a niche market. In terms of breadth of software, Windows blows all other OS's off the face of the Intel and variants landscape. Why is it a niche market? High barrier to entry is one. Your Mac is underspecced for the money. Fact. Every time I buy a new PC, I consider a Mac. Then I look at a PC for the same money and see that it has much better components in it. I buy the PC. I don't mind paying a premium for decent quality gear; but Apple take the p!ss on their stuff. Look at the 13 inch MacBook as an example. I don't know any other way to spend a grand on a computer and NOT be able to play modern games at 1920x1080. If there were any games to play.... All this suits Apple, but it's crap for their customers. Unlike the tablet and phone space, they seemingly have no interest in hoovering up the home computer market. They easily could, but I suspect the real plan is to cannibalise the laptop sector. Macs are great machines, but deep down, every Mac owner knows they are on the second best platform, third best once Steam properly lands on Linux.

Dunno. It's a mystery alright. I see different stuff on different clients too. On TapaTalk, it says the stain posted my "big fish" post. On the site, it's still listed as me. What were you using to access the site?
  14. It's typical Chapel End Charlie stuff, tbh. I don't think I've ever seen him concede a point. My take is that he wandered in here with what he thought would be a popular opinion, has once again made a fool of himself, exacerbating the situation with the usual personal insults that tend to pop up when he's under the cosh. I'm only really hanging about this thread until he speaks for the entire forum. He's used this power before. I want to see how it's done.
  15. You beat me to it. The bloke has made fecktons at Chelsea. Really depends on what his priorities are.
  16. Most laptops slow down because they're full of sh!te, Bear. Dust is a serious issue in computers, especially pronounced in lap tops. One of the reasons I like Dell kit so much is that the cooling system is well designed. You can clear out all the crap without having to get 90 things out of the way first. Check your vents. If there is no air coming out of the sides and your machine gets hot quickly, it's likely the cooling system is bunged up. One tin of pressurised air + screwdriver + service manual = job done. I'd advise anyone thinking about doing this to YouTube your computer's model number and the term "remove dust". Chances are, someone has already done it and filmed it.
  17. Unless you want value for money or the opportunity to play computer games around the time of the original PC release. Just providing balance, like. Definitely wouldn't get it from the Mac camp.
  18. I've made the point before, but I think they are horrible for a number of reasons. This is pretty much the only forum I visit regularly. I'm not one of these nobbers who moan about spending a fiver. Think the value proposition is alright. Fiver = no ads + full functionality. I understand the concerns regarding paywalls elsewhere, but let's face it - you ain't the Murdoch empire and bandwidth ain't free. That said, I don't like the idea of my posts being analysed and marked up with sales tags, especially 'cos I post a lot of links and a fair portion of my opinions are about pointing out the evils of unbridled commercialism. When it comes down to it, skim words is the practice of making money off user generated content. I'm not saying a brother can't earn, but damn dudes, use a bit of true invention rather than underhand misrepresenting tactics. Really is a deal breaker.

Did buctootim really post this? I ask because the stain didn't post the original. Strange stuff afoot at SaintsWeb towers.

Completely agree. The big fish have already got away imo.
  21. Not really. Right now my major interest is watching previously respected posters implode. You may qualify. I just need to find out if you were previously respected first.
  22. Don't encourage him, Bear. Serious question to the mods. Why on Earth did you think this might be a good idea?

    Arcade

Mr Logic head on. If user safety and integrity are infinitely more important than the arcade section, you're essentially saying that the Arcade section was of zero importance.
  24. F**k you and your insightful analysis, sir. Trippie Trap Trollie has already told us that his six year old says Guly is crap. All discussion should have ended there.
  25. One of the most annoying things about Lallana. I know he does so much good elsewhere on the pitch, but when you see a decent attacking move break down on the edge of the box with a workmanlike interception, you can't help thinking the leathering it goal ward might be the better option.
