  1. As The Kraken points out, prejudice can take many forms. At the time that term was directed at Chapel End Charlie, he was resolutely refusing to consider any opinion apart from his own and his six year old son's. Prejudiced? Possibly, but I don't think it has anything to do with race. Inflexible? Definitely. All he is really trying to do is prove he is right. F*ck knows why. Maybe his 6 year old son beat him at Trivial Pursuit.
  2. dune is not a skate.
  3. The Northam are pretty lively, as is that corner in the Itchen. I know Blackpool had us on the side last year. Couldn't we merge Northam and Itchen into one giant Kop?

    The Hobbit

Just back from watching this myself. Loved it. I'm left with no doubts about the overall quality of the trilogy. Too long? Please. I was ready for more by the end of it. Besides, I knew I was going to watch a three hour film. If my expectation was to be in and out in 90 minutes, then yeah; fair dos. Personally, I found it a pleasure to watch a film with the room to breathe. Not as serious as LOTR, but then, was never going to be. Freeman is excellent and as far as I can make out, doing Bilbo Baggins instead of Tim from the Office. Can't wait for the next ones.
  5. Just watched The Adventures of Tintin. I'd heard good things about it when it was released in the cinema. I had read a few of the books when I was a kid, but I wouldn't say I was a massive fan. It's an adventure film in the style of Raiders of the Lost Ark. The motion capture 3D is superb, as is the whole look of the film. It's laden with the sort of invention you see in Spielberg's earlier stuff, and written by Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish. They did an excellent job - the entire movie is strong and there are a lot of laugh out loud moments. The audacious action scenes had me chuckling at the sheer balls of it all. Fantastic film, especially if you've got a young nipper ( or big kid ) living in your house.
  6. I have to say young Andrew, I didn't have you down for this sort of thing. Oxbridge undergrad frittering the hours away by goading our south coast neighbours?
  7. Probably a bit pricey at the moment. We spent all our money on gear and can only afford Steve Brookstein. We're hoping he'll take payment in weed.
  8. Get a USB pen drive. Plug into PC. Copy the files over to the USB drive. Then plug the USB drive into the Mac, and copy all the files from USB drive onto your Mac.
  9. The people at the posh end of Bassett take exception to us rapscallion Flower Estate types appropriating the district name for ourselves. My view is that if they care so much, they can fight us for it. Daisy Dip. No tools from the Flower Estate lads. No pony whips or concealed ciabattas for the posh lot. Fair fight. Fisticuffs only rumble. Settle it once and for all.
  10. Turks, I don't go to many games. Where do they stand when I'm NOT there? I imagine they have some sort of half-time vigil for around ten games a year.
  11. Dude, you've had four pages of opinion.
  12. Not reallly just about the games, Sue. The screen resolution is low, and I believe the OP specified lightning quick as a consideration. Put simply, any work you can't hand off to the GPU is stuff that has to be processed in software. Not only that, but the Intel integrated stuff has a concept of shared memory. If the GPU needs to store more than the 128MB of dedicated memory, it starts bunging stuff into the slower RAM ( which other programs also need ). For anyone who genuinely wants a lightning quick PC, one of the best options is to whack an SSD in, at least as your boot drive.
  13. Don't shoot the messenger but that machine is only just above entry level. Low resolution, integrated Intel graphics card. I personally wouldn't have gone near it, even if I was buying for one of my kids.
  14. Think he runs his own firm. Laughing Zombie Tattoos.

    Jimmy Savile

Certain righties demonstrating the sort of sneering indifference that tarnishes that side of the political divide alert.
  16. Very much a question of culture. I kick around with a lot of tattooed people in North Carolina. Quite the norm there, and not quite the same stigma. I have none myself, but I sometimes toy with the idea. Know some people in NI that used to be quite hardcore, have markings to that effect on their arms so can never wear short sleeved shirts in a professional environment again. Can sort of understand that, but if it's just a form of expression, bit of a shame that the attitudes of judgemental nobbers keep decent skin graffiti under wraps. Btw, went to school with someone who is a very good tattooist. He works in Southampton and comes highly recommended. He has slowly been turning another mate into a Terminator.

Most gamers stock their portfolios using a combination of used, new and download titles. To have one of those options removed will hurt sales. Sony doesn't have to release loss-leaders. That's a business choice it makes. Their whole schtick is bringing the most technically competent console to market. PS1 = streets ahead of Saturn for 3D. PS2 was better than Dreamcast for most stuff, and of course was a DVD player. PS3 had completely new architecture and a BluRay player. Nintendo have just released the Wii U. Does 1080p no problem, and they make money on every unit. They have done since the GameCube, I believe.
  21. I think there is some truth in this. I got really tubby when living in Northern Ireland, but was eating a load of crap. Been fine since coming back to the 'Pool. My maxim has always been "if you can't see your own **** when going for a p!ss then you are probably too fat". Another thing that really helps is the configuration of my office in the house. It's upstairs, I'm up and down the stairs all day long. Good non-invasive exercise. Oh, and if you've got time, walk somewhere instead of drive. Bung a podcast on, time and distance fly. Don't become a runner though; you'll bore all your mates to death
  22. Doesn't the card collecting occupational of the CM justify getting another to cover suspensions and injuries? Quite a few of my NI supporting mates rate Davis highly. Is he the bloke that could step into the breach? Thought he was alright against Arsenal. I broadly agree with Flash though. Couple battlers would not go amiss.
  23. I've got real mixed feelings about it. I did not know about the sentencing (which I agree was very light). It's a very serious crime. I do think offenders should have the chance of rehabilitation. Continuing to play footy was probably his best chance of rehabilitation. Do you happen to know if the people convicted with him got off as lightly?
  24. On the whole Mboyo thing. The man's past is well-known. When he was 16, he was convicted for his involvement in a gang rape. I'm certainly not condoning it, but when he was selected for Belgium, the national coach said it was a case of "do we write someone off forever?"
  25. Back on topic. Interview with "Flash" Gordon Watson in the Echo. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/10140225.Ex_Saint_Watson__Adkins_needs_battlers_to_complement_his_creative_stars/?ref=rss&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter He reckons we need dogs of war to complement our creative talent. “We see the best of Ramirez when Adam Lallana is not in the team, as those two are very alike."
