  1. Midgets yes, but talentless no. They have the talent of being able to entertain morons.
  2. Got a lot of time for the Alien films myself, Charlie. Aliens is still one of the best action movies ever made, and holds up better than nearly every other contemporary released within a few years of it. With the exception of a couple of VDUs, even Alien still looks beautiful. I liked Salvation, but didn't love it. It's never going to get the sort of repeated play that T2 gets. Mind you, I was also a huge fan of 3. Sure, parts of it were a retread of the same formula, but the ending was fantastic. No matter what your misgivings about Salvation, it's still a lot more respectful to long-term fans than the Aliens vs Predator movies, especially the execrable AVP2: Requiem.
  3. This is also true in the world of Football Manager.
  4. I loved the guy that predicted the Rapture, twice - and got it wrong. That takes a giant set of balls.
  5. They are very popular with dogs, apparently.
  6. From the outside, does seem like a bit of a clusterf*ck, but probably worth remembering that these guys aren't the latest sheik to roll into town. Managing big sports clubs is their business, and to me at least, this looks like the implementation of plan A more than anything else. These guys have never really had their own man in. As Sour Mash says, it's going to be an interesting appointment.
  7. Respectfully, Ohio - that's more Gollum than Bearsy
  8. I'm with you, my ursine companion. Language is supposed to evolve, and while I would not employ your specific style myself, I would go to great lengths to defend your right to do it, perhaps even writing to my MP or cage-fighting a kitten.
  9. Winning is winning. Standard of opposition is always a factor, but Nige didn't manage back-to-back promotions just because he wasn't playing Premiership opposition. The bloke has a history of over-achievement - how many of us really thought we'd be in the Prem this year? Our run at the end of last season that kept Huddersfield at bay was immense. The noises coming out of FSG indicate they want a young, talented manager. Their MD went on record yesterday denying that they were only considering top level managers. Reports today suggest the shortlist could contain twelve candidates. The truth is that neither of us know what their selection criteria are. So far, the names being bandied about range from respected relegation specialists like Robert Martinez all the way up to Pep "leave me the f*ck alone for a year" Guardiola. The club got into hot water today for tweeting fans about their opinions for a new manager, although they claimed it was for a fun feature (quite why they are expecting fun out of the mourning Dalglish lovers is beyond me). Whatever. Twelve candidates looks like a scattergun approach to me. If their aim is to get 4th, then Martinez, Rodgers are absolute gambles too - and they're talking to them.
  10. I applaud the fact that you keep up with the comings and goings of Gibraltar. When will you make the step up and cover a more populous area, such as Eastleigh?
  11. As I said on the other thread, if Liverpool are looking at Rodgers and Martinez, they'd be mental not to look at Nige. He's won more than both put together.
  12. McFadden is the only one I've heard of. Rest youth/reserve players?
  13. What percentage of celebrities wipe their own arse? Of those who don't, do they have butlers, robots or something else? Perhaps a well trained animal.
  14. Brilliant. I have a May 28th deadline. Don't have to do that now.
  15. Everton have just released six players: James McFadden and Marcus Hahnemann, Adam Davies, Connor Roberts, Aristotle Nsiala and Femi Orenuga.
  16. Liverpool to interview 12 candidates for manager's position. http://www.football365.com/news/21554/7763295/Reds-To-Interview-12-Rodgers-Not-Keen
  17. Good piece, Chris - just commented. Lot of rumours can't be helped. Some can. I'd like the owners to give some statement as to their intentions. That'd scotch the Saints for Sale thing.
  18. Brendan Rodgers just turned down the opportunity to speak with LFC about the vacant managers job.
  19. Well, possibly Here's one of this nutjob's tweets:- Nigel Adkins has just flown back from Boston after being interviewed for the vacant post @LFC. Good call.
  20. According to Santander, their UK operation is insulated from events in Spain. People are protected up to £85K anyway, right?
  21. Some dude on Twitter ( @phillywan.ka - no dot ) is banging on about Adkins going to LFC, tweeting journos and suchlike. Anyone who'll listen, basically.
  22. Gotta hand it to him. 462 posts from absolutely nothing is rather impressive.
  23. I really hope he does, mate. He was quality at Newcastle and Liverpool weren't really playing in a way that suited his style. Bit of a gamble for the Euros, but is in banging form. Could become a legend if the gamble pays off.
  24. I agree, but Martinez is in contention and the Liverpool fans are saying exactly the same thing about that. "Can't believe we sacked Dalglish for Martinez..." Fair to say that the board are making decisions over the objections of the fans.
