I keep saying it, but I don’t think there is any football knowledge at board level, or above Martin. Theoretically Rasmus does, but it wouldn’t seem that way given his managerial appointments and transfer dealings in January 23. I appreciate this must have been recognised as they appointed two directors of football, unfortunately neither stayed the course. My perception is we are a bit rudderless in the strategic footballing side at the moment. https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/meet-the-saints-leadership-team

Are you suggesting they have been sounded out by us?
-
The issue isn't just Martin, the bigger issue is that no one above him has the slightest clue what to do about him or our situation. No one, I have no faith in them to appoint anyone better. It all feels a bit "Emperors new clothes" from the outside.

I find it impossible to comprehend that Dragan, or any competent business minded person, would accept relegation as worthwhile risk in their long term strategy. I would think that having had the somewhat good fortune to return to the premier league at the first attempt they would be doing everything they can to maintain that status and build from there.
-
If you were Dragan, what would you do?
-
He and Rasmus are a perfect pair , the spout the same psycho-babble.

From this quote and your previous one referring to “what you are hearing” sic. I am unsure what the inference is. Put this together with the purported leaks from within this week and it sounds very divided at the senior levels?
-
Who would be responsible for appointing the new manager, that is the scary bit?. If it’s Rasmus then God help us. We need a total rebuild on the footballing staff de of the business, that won’t happen anytime soon.

it’s also possible for “the whole to be greater than the sum of its parts”, the missing ingredient her is a manager who can get the team performing to their strengths and at their maximum. edit: do you not think Strachan in his heyday would not have had this squad performing infinitely better than they are currently?
-
I think Wade Garrett, above, articulated my thoughts better than I could do.
-
I’m not convinced you couldn’t assemble a somewhat competitive team from our squad, with the right management.

https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/up-front/id1683837570?i=1000641264985 The podcast is “up front with Simon Jordan” linked is the link to the Jesse Marsch interview. Well worth a listen. I haven’t listened to it back, but I recall him saying he didn’t come because the leaders didn’t have any clear direction, or something along those lines,

Strange admission, if he’s a good coach, then they must be the problem. …or good coach = good mate
-
It could be the tea lady, conversely it could be a “strategic” leak by someone of seniority.
-
The problem, it appears from the outside, is Rasmus, all the other issues you mention lead directly to him.
-
how ironic
-
He must be still in the "breaking it" phase, its the only possible explanation.

Are we getting a midweek one, following the Bournemouth debacle and Alfie’s tetchy interview and ensuing Echo article?
-
So does a member of my extended family, and he's on every register you don't want to be on. Being seen to be giving to charity doesn't neccessrily make you "decent", in fact it could be seen as self aggrandising.

The score line was pretty much as expected, what was unexpected was the team selection, positioning of players and the first half total capitulation.

What’s a bigger job than trying to get a win out of Saints?

He looked on the verge of tears when the camera cut to him a minute ago,

In Glen Hoddle’s brief tenure he would make changes after a few minutes if things weren’t working. The writing was on the wall before the first goal went in and yet nothing perceptible has changed.

It gives me no pleasure to say this, but Martin looks a broken man.
