Why would we be signing a new RB? We already have Tino, KWP and Bree, we should only need 2. I can only see us signing Aaron’s if KWP and Tino both leave which could easily happen, but doesn’t seem to be that much interest in KWP.
-
With the right additions and sales we will be top 2. Having Armstrong up top all season, and players who can’t play out from the back with a dodgy keeper we could easily finish bottom half. Pretty impossible to say right now, but I am confident with what the club is trying to do too to bottom, it will take time to align everything and bring in the right players to play the system. If I had to make a prediction now, I’d guess we might be bottom half after the first third of the season and finish strongly and get into the playoffs. Then who knows what happens in that lottery!

Sheffield Weds 1-2 Saints - Match Thread

Oh I completely agree, I have the same concerns as I did at the start of last season. Weak at the back and give cheap goals away, including a less than solid keeper. And a lack of creativity and goal threat. I think we probably need either Sulemena to stay or us to bring someone else in if similar standard, and we desperately need a new no 9. But we *should* still go up with the finances at our disposal. However if we don’t get the recruitment right, we won’t, and there is no doubt the first month will be tough with a bit of a mish mash squad. -
He sounds like a racehorse!

Sheffield Weds 1-2 Saints - Match Thread

Don’t think we should be worried about any sides this year. We have more money and better players than most, if we get it right we’ll go up. -
Best of luck to him, always tried his hardest, never downed tools, simply not good enough but that’s not his fault. Nice move for him, and I’m assuming he gets to play champions league too.

Just seen someone else has already posted, was on previous page

Think Monaco is most likely atm,

So basically: Bazunu wasn’t single handedly my responsible for our relegation, but statistically he was the worst keeper in Europe last season and a key reason why we didn’t give ourselves a chance of staying up. Having watched him all season, it’s incredibly difficult to disagree with those stats. Macca is also nowhere near good enough at this level too. Ultimately, we have no idea if Bazunu will be good enough this season, but multiple errors during pre season aren’t a good way to kick off the season. I was hoping a clean slate and some strong performances in pre season under the new management this summer will help him get some confidence, but that hasn’t yet. I have high hopes for him, but I am concerned that him giving away soft goals will cost us promotion.

I get the marketing, but why bother with the trees, black and yellow trim would have been classy. Always feel like simple is better personally and they’ve tried too much here IMO, still think it’s best of 3 though.
-
Obviously we have no idea of the details, but on the face of it this sounds like a shocking deal for Saints.

Mine arrived, can’t actually go though. So got 2 spare

If we’re going to go up this year, I feel we need a new striker, proper talisman striker who hasn’t been battered by recent seasons. I’m still expecting Adams to go due to his contract situation, and wouldn’t be surprised if Arma goes, but Russell seems to like him so maybe he can get him playing, Onuachu will probably end up out on loan somewhere. Sulemana who knows, same with Tella. But I wouldn’t be putting any money on any of those scoring 20 goals this season,
-
Would be a decent signing for them on a free. Good lad off the pitch too,
-
Will be fascinating to see the team come Sheff Weds match. Something like: Bazunu Tino Bednarek Stephens Manning JWP Charles Alcaraz Tella Adams Sulemena. Whats the chances?! 🤪
-
Mental that. Not old and has basically given up with his football career already. There was a footballer in there but just couldn’t get it out consistently enough. Good luck to him, but what a disappointment in the end. Hopefully we got some decent money for him given it’s Qatar
-
This guy could be absolutely phenomenal. Looks a fantastic prospect, genuinely really excited about this signing.
-
Surely we’d be better off just playing him next season and leaving for free than selling him for £5m?!
-
Irrelevant I think, they’re not signing JWP to replace Rice.
-
Haven’t seen it, but I would expect that will be the case. I think it’s very unlikely it’ll be white like that mock-up, why would they
-
Not that season he wasn’t. He just got found out in the prem cos of his lack of pace,
-
Cracking left foot. Him and Fraser Richardson/Butterfield were excellent full backs that season.
-
I think it was reported in The Athletic that the squad had a 40% pay cut. I’ve no idea if that’s everybody. However, it would seem odd to exclude our highest paid player given the fact it’s meant to give us more financial security if relegated. They can always offer him a new contract and new terms if they think they can afford it and they want to
-
Their family aren’t going anywhere. If he leaves he’ll be commuting from Winchester. He’s off to Turkey on Thursday, as you’d expect. “Will take something very special to lure him away”. My mate reckons Che and Adam Armstrong will also likely stay which is interesting.
-
I have a good mate who knows him and sees him quite a bit. It’s obviously not something they talk about much, if at all really as it’s none of his business, but what I’ve been told is that the club will let him leave if it’s worthwhile for the club, but he wouldn’t kick up a fuss to leave. He absolutely loves the club, and the area, and he’s very much settled. But obviously if it’s too good to turn down then he would probably go, (the likes of the top clubs). I don’t see him going to a Fulham or a Brentford. West Ham there is a draw because of the Europa League, but doubt the club would consider selling at the prices being quoted anyway,
