  1. ha ha jonathan ha ha. for your information the highlighted bit is precisely waht did actually happen and I wa subliminally hinting at it without even realising. Doing 'it' on a boat is quite a unique experience that i never realised, you get a surreal slow rhythmic momentum going and in a strange hypnotic way it slows the whole process down and enhances the experience. mrs h quite literally rocks. I am so looking forward to next week, so looking forward to it.
  2. Well, mrs b you know what you have to do then don't you.. This car was made for you and sometimes these opportunities come around at just the right time. i can se you sat in that little beauty, roof down, wind in your hair, James Taylor on the stereo thrashing down the country lanes of wherever looking gorgeous. If I had the money I would buy it for you I really would. Treat yourself. Go on you know you want to.
  3. Bells eh? For whom do they toll?

  6. There must be another word that describes it better than a simply 'fun', it's much more than that, it really is. This evening I have reserved her again for next weekend, I have also booked 4 tickets to watch saints beat MK (****ing) Dons at their NCP carpark stadium. We are moored about 15 miles from MK and I will be travelling through that long wet tunnel again plus a couple of locks on Saturday morning then jumping on a bus for the final streetch. I plan to be celebrating another demolition of my favourite, least favourite team on Saturday night at The Boat Inn, Stoke Bruerne. Mrs h, 2 x Grandkids, bestest mate, his wife and son in tow. It will be fun. Pic of said Boat Inn to follow. NB I shall be flying the famous Saints JPT flag again, which must surely now be as famous as the tatty old 'Dubai saints' rag that DP carries in his suitcase. COYFR's
  7. We have to remember that QI is an entertainment prog not an educational one. Trust me fhs, I just checked with Wiki and can confirm that all I have writted is true (according to some anonymous person somewhere on the web), so there!
  8. JB, last year there was an almighty battle between Lennon (Neil) and Rupert Lowe to break the 100 mill mark. Some bright spark apparently set up 10 PC's with some fancy software working right through the new year holiday and Lennon was left in RL's wake. Very childish imho and totally un-called for. ;-)

  10. Not disagreeing with the font that is Steven Fry but I am equally confident that my teachers at school knew their stuff too. QI uses many sources for research but at the end of the day it is down to some spotty herbert sat in front of a computer to decide what the facts are. My history teacher, Mrs Herbert, actually lived through the black death.

  13. I know a little about this rRnR young fella me lad. In times gone by when the country was suffering epedemics it was a common fear that people might be buried alive. So you are not alone in that one Anyway, some people worried for there loved ones fate couldn;t risk having the diseased body hanging about in the vain hope so gave them up to the 'barrow'. When the loved one was put in their coffin the family would tie a piece of string around their hand and pass it through a hole in the coffin lid and attach it to a tiny bell hung above the grave. Hope you're keeping up here? Anyway, apparently this is where we get the adage 'Saved By The Bell'. And that my friend is what in the modern World we call a F A C T. Jilly, this is actually something that mrs hamster asked (and witnessed) when doing her nurse training. She spent a day at the Crematorium, a day at ther morgue and a day at an undertakers! Yes, they do cremate the whole coffin and body at the same time. In fact you will find that unless the family specifically request them the handles fixtures etc are not even made of metal, they are some sort of tough plastic. The wood is also composite and even those lovely pine boxes are just basically chipboard/MDF. Bodies are not necesarily cremated as soon as the curtains close either, the average 'time' is about 80 minutes and at Southampton they have four 'ovens'. After the remains have cooled down they are sifted and any heavier metals like hip replacements, screws and plates etc are discarded. Jewellery like rings necklaces etc are you will be pleased to hear left with the other ashes along with gold fillings. It is a very respectful process and I hope this does not read as being too morbid, I can assure you that I would never treat this matter lightly and hoe the info is taken with the respect that it is written. I personally could never do that kind of work but thankfully we have people with the mettle and decorum to do it. Respectfully hamster

  15. Why do you not sell the lot and buy ONE decent car? ;-) Fwiw to prospective buyers, I have actually seen mr landford's car collection and can confirm that they are all nice tidy examples. Well looked after and well loved. And with the summer just around the corner I would highly recomend a convertible,, they do say that a motorbike is the next best thing but imo nothing compares. (my usual 10% mr l?)

It warmed up pretty quickly so I opened the side hatch to thow a crust to the quacking ducks outside. I was greeted by this: Now that was one of the best moments of the whole week, gorgeous isn't it..
