Ah, but instances of abuse or neglect in the public sector are less (I'm assuming) than in the private sector. Also, the public sector is naturally better placed to act and act quickly; there is not the focus on financing remedial measures in my experience. Anyway, this whistleblowing department is not the underlying problem, we are talking about the causes in this case and one of the causes is without doubt paying unsuited people low wages for a job that is undervalued. I'd say that an army of carers being paid a couple of quid less an hour than their ps equals saves a lot of money, the balance sheet is more important than the bedsheet. Whather we like it or not these situations show the clear problem in privatised care homes.

/\ because BB, I've been invited to 2 parties this Saturday night. One is on the 3 rd floor of a luxury apartment compled, it's a christening and wouldn't be appropriate to get drunk on such an occasion. The parents (unmarried lesbian sociology students) like a snakebite, that's why I thought a can for me and a can each for Siobhan and Petra. The other party is a 'coming out' party on the 24th of Shirley Towers. My mate Dave is a scaffolded, a lot of his new 'friends' are in the building industry. I was thinking that climbing all them stairs is gonna knackered me out. I'm probably gonna be the best looking bloke in Shirley, let alone Shirley Towers, and expect to get a lot of attention from other guests. If the inevitable happens I would much rather be inebriated if I'm honest. Also, I have recently learnt that cider gives socialists like me super-human strength, so I'll have a fighting chance in Shirley, which if I'm honest is my preferred option as I am more comfortable in the company of men. Parking wardens are striking in Southampton

I note that The Swan Centre has introduced charges for Sunday parking now, yet another backdoor tax on everyday living. -
How well do you get on with Tge other residents. Of course if in Thornhill, Mike Osman would **** in the lift. Having said that, he would never drink 24 cans leaving himself ****ed ip, he could drink one can and give the remainder to a good local cause like St James shelter ... tfic

UK's biggest residential care provider in serious financial problems: http://http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13611766 IMO opinion the only 'profit' from care should the moral and ethical. Recent initiatives like 'personalised budgets'' direct payments' and 'self directed support' sound very good in many ways like ability to choose but therein lies a problem, currently, as I understand, anyone opting out of the current system IS NOT PERMITTED to purchase local government services, therefore a percentage of their assessed entitlement must go to paying any private companies shareholders their dividends. It's plain crazy, i know for a fact that some are scared, and rightly so, of leaving the bosom of state provided care. It's promoted as offering people 'choice' but is clearly farcical if you remove the best care provider from that list of choices. Apart from a wealthy minority our parents, grandparents, sons and daughters ad infinitum MUST have nothing less than our 100% assurances that we, the people of this country, will provide for them at whatever cost. After all, the current 'money-go-round' system ensures that WE are the accountable ones, exactly as it shod be in a modern caring society. People are free to disagree with that of course but unless you fall into that 'wealthy' category, you leave the system at your peril. If it's an informed choice then good luck to you but the most vulnerable should never be sold off to the lowest bidder. Grrrrr....

But that wasn't what I asked though was it. Any chance you might answer the question please? Anyway I meant to say 'cider' in both scenarios so although very interesting it's a moot point.

What would you rather do: Lug 24 cans of cider up 3 flights of stairs or Lug 3 cans of cider up 24 flights of stairs? I'm just curious, thanks.

Why do people not like the Sky idea? Make it freeview (with ads) or PPV without. It's simple and it would work. They just need a fair share policy IMO where by all match revenue is shared equally between participating teams who are all required to be registered charities or nfp.

Whatever your opinion of those Vuvazela's a lot of people not linked to FIFA made a lot of Kruger from them, from the high street poundland to the street hawker in Jo'burg. They getmy vote. F O > F I F A

In all seriousness I'd have Nic Cortese heading up any new governing body. His ideas, albeit controversial to the minority of Saints fans, would be great for the game on a global basis. All participants representing their country do it for nought and the eventual winners receive a nice watch? That should be incentive enough IMHO: 'Grandad, tell us that watch story again please, and what it was like to sheik the hand of the great man who saved Soccer from the jaws of evil' 'Well nipper, it all started back in 2009 stood in the Centre circle of the home of the modern game....The Friends Provident St Mary's Bowl....' I reckon he'd do it too b

The only organisation with enough clout and resources to take on FIFA are Sky. Murdoch could easily afford to smash their empire and he is ideally set up to provide a superior product for the member countries and customers alike. One problem with this idea though is that we'd have less corruption at the cost of ad breaks. I could see loads of benefits though; cheerleaders, foot long hot dogs, goal-line technology and best of all, the return of The Albion Band. SSWC (Sky Socca World Cup) finals would be held at Wembley each and every four years with the host nation getting a bye.
